Nebula nodded. "Yep, exactly." Humans were emotional creatures. There were people out there with immense potential that never went anywhere because they hit one bad wall. It was Nebula's job to help humans through those struggles.

"Personally, I think sometimes lore needs to be given up for fun gameplay. There's a balance that should be maintained and a smart developer can maintain it. Sucks when your timezone prevents you from enjoying a game, though. My biggest problem was when a new feature came out and everyone jumped in, so it's easy to get a group no matter what, but as things die off the feature is harder to play. The early downsides are that so many people jumped in, sometimes servers were completely full and single-player features were hard to complete when everyone else was doing them at the same time."

Nebula didn't care that she was rambling. She found someone with the same interested in games as her and she was taking full advantage of it.

"Balance was really a common complaint, specially in regards to classes, even more because most of the 5th season's classes were Premium ones, such as my own, and didn't have any lore to them. Never paid for mine, since as a GM I had to test. Needless to say, Fox Illusionist is OP with spellcasting-oriented builds, and add Luck and you get free dodges. Last I checked some developers left and others joined, they have rebalanced most dungeons now, The Crafter Tower is getting an expansion to add a village of metal golems, and fox illusionists are getting a Luck nerf and small encouragement to go melee when low on MP in the form of drain touch.", Neon was clearly amused that Nebula was here with him, discussing the same things.

That confirmed it. Nebula wanted this boy as a friend. He was too interesting to simply let go. Nebula's court wasn't like many others where they would kidnap humans, but Nebula was starting to see the appeal.

"Don't mean to go off topic, but we should trade phone numbers. I'd love to be your friend! I haven't met many as interested in gaming as we are. The only other one I'm friends with is a pretty popular streamer in the Narrow Reality: Jazz Aubron, also known as PixelHazelNut."

"Ah, right, phones!", Neon went on and drew a torii on the ground with his paws, creating a portal to his room and diving right into his Neon Dimension, and didn't take too long to come out in his human form, with his phone in hands, exchanging contact info with Nebula as the portal closed behind. While getting hers, he stopped for a moment, thinking at one of the earliest things he was told...

"Maybe... I cheated death somehow without knowing by exploiting a glitch in reality?", that was quite an amusing way to work around his fear of death, "If so, that probably means I can't do it again, or else I'll die for real.", and of course he would still need to fear death anyways.

Nebula looked on in awe as Neon disappeared into his portal and returned. Nebula didn't pull out her phone to trade numbers. She simply explained that she stored his number in her files before telling him her number.

Neon's change in behavior told Nebula that she was about to hear something philosophical before he spoke. "Why do you think that? Who said people can only be reborn or resurrected once? Probably best to not test that, but, y'know, with all the immortals here, anything's possible."

"If I died and became a ghost... Then I became an yokai because I was a ghost but not conscious of dying, and people made me into an urban legend, if I follow that line of thought... I'm a Modern Yokai in the most literal sense. ... And no, of course I'm not gonna try my luck again. I don't want to die... Again.", at least Neon was now aware of what he had become between then and now, even if he still looked a bit sad or shaken of the realization.

"Well, no point in moping around, I guess! If I died once, that's that, it's time to move on with my new life!", thankfully optimism kicked in really fast too.

Nebula had trouble following Neon's train of thought. It's not that it didn't make sense. He was a modern yokai. That was it. It was that she wasn't worried about dying like a lot of pixies. It wasn't anything she found too concerning with the long life she was allowed to lead.

"It's good that you're staying so optimistic! An optimistic viewpoint can keep a person ambitious and continuing to work. I wish I was better at this, though. Sounds like I dumped a lot on you. I barely have any experience with death. The closest I've gotten to dying is my battery running out and needing someone to get me home and charge me up."

"Hm, not your fault, really. If anything, I should have accepted it sooner, but my fears got the best of me until today. As for running out of energy, geez, that sounds like when I crash on the bed after a long day of training my powers and overexerting myself. Perhaps it's similar for you too, when you exhaust your reserves you pretty much fall into a long slumber.", for a moment Neon thought about it and came with an idea or two for Nebula.

"You could isolate part of the battery to run in "low power mode" and simulate drowsiness, I think final 15% or 10%, and perhaps use the "sleep time" to organize files in your memory, that could possibly create a simulation of dream. From where did I take the cyber dream idea? Heheh, I had that discussion for the Technos Castle's characters mid-development. For lore that would work well, they say.", and of course he was taking it from his memories.

Nebula nodded along to Neon's advice. "Yeah, it's sort of like sleeping. Difference is, I don't wake up if I'm not plugged in and charging, and I'll get slow and sluggish as my battery runs out. Oh, right, and I can't dream. I have to be awake to organize files. My files are easy to organize anyway. Heh, I guess androids really don't dream of electric sheep." It was a cute idea, but ultimately useless for Nebula. "Hm... Someday I might try to dream. I just never found a use for it like humans do. I don't want to let dreaming distract me from work either."

Nebula's dorm parent had told her that she needed to relax. To learn to have fun and not worry too much about work. Taking that advice was difficult, to say the least. It was in Nebula's nature to continue moving and working. To sit still and do nothing felt dangerous.

"All your gaming talk got me wondering. Have you tried any of the virtual reality games here? I've played some back home. I wanna know what VR is like here. I know it's way more developed than what humans have in the Narrow Reality."

"On the plus side, you can at least sleep. I got used to pulling all-nighters as a ghost, so feeling the need to sleep again after so long was more of a shock. A shock and crashing on the bed for almost sixteen hours.", his neon energy tail shone vividly as it waved back and forth. Now he was taking the fun side of his whole backstory and bringing it up, "Hm... I know that when I feel "stuck", unable to think things well and it's late at night or I can power nap, I do so. Every now and then I have weird illogical dreams, but at other times I dream of what was bothering me... And solve it in my dreams."

Nebula bringing up VR made Neon reminisce for a moment: "Last I tried I played it every day, told my friends I won it in a competition, and could hardly stop playing it. It was fun to escape from reality and see places from the game in detail. Helped diagnose some flaws better too! But ever since I appeared here, at most I've been to the arcades. ... Ah! I just noticed I took it easy again! You know my whole story after all!", and a hearty laughter to reassure that he was fine.
