Settling back down with a pleased expression, Letty felt rather self-assured when she managed to convince him to tell a story. She was an excellent negotiator. Leticia was rather impressed that he was from a noble family. Did that mean he was something like a knight, or even a prince? That would be neat, to have a whole prince as your friend. Even a half-prince would be okay.

A curse! It was sounding more and more like a fairytale by the second. He, the firstborn, had a curse placed upon him. Obviously, it was by an evil witch of some sort--"Will true loves first kiss break the spell?!" That seemed more like the best option, and Letty had half a mind to go out and find a whole host of potential suitors. "Shall we go out and make you kiss people? To find out! Maybe that's how it'll go away!"

Leticia rather liked his story, and hoped very badly that he would eventually have a happy ending to it. Of course, after he kissed his true love, it would probably turn into a happier ending.

“A what?”

Félix did not expect, at all, that sort of question from Leticia. To him, it sounded preposterous that true love could fix anything in his life. Félix was sceptical of whether he even believed in true love. The idea that love could come in some sort of purified, supernatural form was built on the basis of old wives' tales and wishful fantasy.

But more importantly, it was thoroughly embarrassing to consider. Félix lacked the pigmentation to hide any blush on his face, and his cheeks lit up like red stoplights. “I-I don't think it works like that. Not that I've tried, but... the difference between my story and fairy tales is mine is real.”

“On the other hand, don't you think finding true love often results in a happy ending? What about you? If you found someone you truly loved, all your worries might wash away.” He didn't think life was so simple, but he did not want to be so cynical toward Leticia when she was trying her best to help him.

Growing up, Letty had been a firm believer in the idea of a perfect romance. After school, on days when her horns had been mocked, Letty had flopped into bed and imagined a prince riding up to her door and sweeping her away. Of course, around her 12th birthday, she ended up facing the fact that a prince wasn't likely to come and rescue her. That didn't stop her wild fantasies, anyway.
"You should try it! You can't say it doesn't work if you've never tried it, right?" Maybe even if he was lucky, it wouldn't be a frog princess that he has to kiss. She heard that frog lips were slimy and sort of gross.

"True love always results in a happy ending! It's science!" She made that last part up, of course, but he didn't need to know that. Love could be science. Maybe. "I dunno. Sometimes it seems like ... A waste, to believe in magic and true love, and such things. But at the same time, it has the power to give people hope, you know?"

Her insistence was a little infectious. But really, Félix was simply not one for True Love. He was more likely to let it pass him by without notice than to chase and find the one. Worse yet, he imagined his grandfather might just picked one out for Félix instead, and he'd be obligated to marry whomever Jean-Pierre Tenebre liked.

“I'll give it a shot. Once I find the right girl,” Félix may as well promise. It wasn't like he wanted to go through his whole life not having kissed someone, anyway.

“I hope you find true love yourself, too,” Félix grinned. “If I wasn't born with powers, I might never have known the supernatural and magic even existed. Now there's a whole new world, and a whole new hope for us.” He wasn't sure that included the magic of True Love, but at least it would keep Leticia's spirits up.

“Here's a promise – I will look for true love, so long as you look for it too.”

Leticia bounced in place, satisfied that he agreed to at least have a go at finding true love and potentially breaking the curse. She frowned, however, when he wished that she find true love too. To be perfectly honest, she had probably given up on finding any kind of love. Not many people enjoyed being headbutted when she was mad at them.

His words did make sense, anyway. If someone could have an interdimensional pocket in their chest, then why couldn't true love exist? "Okay! I promise!" Perhaps even unicorns and fairies and elves even existed, too! The prospect of going unicorn hunting was an exciting one, and her mind immediately veered off the track of love. "Do you think unicorns exist? Let's go find a unicorn! Have you ever seen a unicorn? Do you think they're born with the horns? I wonder if the mothers have issues birthing because of the horns ... Hey, do you think unicorns really have healing powers?! Maybe there's even a couple unicorns on school grounds! Let's go look, can we look?!"
