She shrugged, not liking the turn the conversation was taking. "I said I didn't care. Why would I? I've no reason to want to impress you, look capable in your eyes." She finally decided she was tired of her ebony hair getting in her eyes, digging in her pocket for a scrunchie and flipping the hair up in a ponytail. "How long have you been skating?"

"Umm...about a year or 2." said Ian happy that they had gotten off the subject of her being blind.

"Oh?" Veronica started, not able to think of anything else to say. See, this is why you don't talk to people, she reminded herself. They're boring!

Veronica frowned at nothing, answering herself mentally. Perhaps it's just me that's boring. Others seem to love human contact, don't they?
She realized Ian was waiting for her to say something else, finally shrugging and questioning "So, why'd you get stuck in this dump of a school?"

"Got expelled from ym last one.." he said with a shrug as he swung his skateboard back and forth with his feet as if he were riding it while sitting.

I wonder why. Veronica rolled her eyes yet again, wishing more of the students could be people she'd like hanging out with. Whatever 'hanging out' really was... She'd never really tried it, and quite honestly had no particular desire to.

"I'm here because it was the first place my parents could find when they found out the whole... Power thing. Weren't happy to learn I'd been hiding it from them all this time..." She laughed humorlessly, listening to the sound of wheels against concrete. Mental note: buy skateboard. The whole thing was becoming more interesting to her by the second.

No powers? Veronica raised an eyebrow. "Why were you sent here, then? This school seems to put basic education second to anything involving powers... It seems you'd get a much better education somewhere else." She started to add 'If you don't mind me asking', realizing that she didn't really care if he minded or not and remaining silent.

"Hmm. So it's a wishful thinking sort of arrangement?" Veronica retreated into thought, finally sighing and mumbling "It must suck," quietly.
