Ian woke up and looked at his alarm clock. It read 6:00. he decided he'd just egt up now. he put ona pair of black slacks and a black and white checkered shirt and looked out the window. The sun was creeping up over the horizon. Ian grabbed his skateboard off his bed and ran outside. he figured that eh hand't rode at the school yet and he wouldn't get in trouble now sicne teachers weren't up.

he ran down the hall and stopped as a teacher walked by. he put his board behind his back and smiled politely and then continued runnign until he was outside. At first, he just rode aroudn a bit, but then he started jumping off benches and down stairs hoping he wasn't making too much noise.

Veronica had been up since five.

Not that she'd especially wanted to get up. She'd had a vaguely unsettling dream involving the handful of students she'd met so far, and didn't want to go back to sleep in case it might be a reoccurring sort of thing.

So she was aimlessly walking around the almost empty school grounds, humming quietly to herself and wondering if she should do this more often. She was wearing a comfortable black skirt, paired with what she'd thought was a green shirt but what was actually a still pretty dark purple. She'd bought the two shirts a few days ago, and had yet to mark them so she wouldn't make such mistakes.

At exactly a half-hour after six, according to her talking watch, she happened upon the spot in which Ian was skating, listening for a few seconds and wondering if she should sometime try it. She'd be good at it, she knew, but it had always struck her as slightly boring, so she'd refrained from figuring out how to do it until now.

But she was bored now, so she sat down under a nearby tree, propped her cane up where it couldn't be knocked down, and cocked an ear in the direction of the boy to listen to him skate.

((OOC: is she blind?))

Ian continued to skate aroudn unaware of any other person ont he grounds. Finally, after a few minutes, he went to jump down a set of stairs when his wheel got caught on the rail stopping his board and sending him to the floor. He sat up and leaned on the stairs for a second holding hisshoulder that he fell on. Wasn't broken, but it hurt like hell..

Veronica raised an eyebrow when she heard the boy fall, standing up and stretching before walking over to him. Maybe I shouldn't be trying to learn from him... She stuffed her hands in her pockets, looking down at him for a few minutes before finally speaking. "It's not broken. You didn't hit the ground fast enough, and the angle was wrong. You weren't balancing your weight correctly to account for the..." She trailed off, rolling her eyes beneath her sunglasses. He probably already knew...

She sat down beside him, offering a polite smile. "It sounded like it hurt, though. Are you ok?"

ooc: Yep, she is.

OOC: thought so, context clues, but then I went and read her profile.

Ian looked up at the girl. Guess someone was up, he thought. "yeah, I'm fine." he looked at her cane and sunglasses and instantly knew, she was blind. "My names Ian." he said.

Veronica tilted her head to the side at the sound of the boy's voice, smiling lightly however much she hated herself for it. "Veronica. Nice to meet you, Ian." She held a hand out sideways for him to shake, glancing over at the boy so he'd be less uncomfortable. "Why're you out this early?"

Ian shook her hand. He wasn't bothered at all by her beign blind, he actually thought that it was really interesting. "I woke up, didn;t wanna go back to sleep, so i figured I'd come skate before the teachers are out to yell at me." he said with a smile.

She nodded, remembering she'd left her cane over by the tree bench and motioning it to her hand. "You're good at it. Skating, I mean," She offered, laying the cane down next to her. "I've been thinking about trying it myself," She laughed shortly, having no doubt that he would join in at the idea.

"Hm. that's cool." said Ian, "Well, it might be kinda hard...because...you know.." he tried to put it simply without making her feel bad, then added, "But I'm sure you could pick it up with some practice!" he said.

Veronica rolled her eyes behind her sunglasses, running a hand through her hair abesent-mindedly. "If I had a skateboard, and hadn't been listening for less then twenty seconds, I would prove you wrong." She sighed, knowing it wasn't his fault that he assumed she wouldn't be able to but still getting annoyed at it. She'd got only three or four hours of sleep the past few weeks, and it was making her even more irritable then ever.

"But I don't, and I haven't, so I won't. And you'll just think I'm in denial." She turned her head in the direction of the rising sun, enjoying the warm feel of it on her face. "Not that I really care."
