Rai
He was watching Sofia, waiting for her to do anything as a wolf. And as he was, the guy who he had just greeted stood in front of him. He was bothered by it for a moment, but then he realised that this guy was interesting too. He was a devil.

The devil told Rai that was in a dangerous situation, but it's not like Rai hadn't realized that already. Is that a question? Or do you want to say something about that? He asked the devil.

Sofia snorted and shook her fur, pacing back and forth now, her ears folding back in agitation. I am as in control as I can be right now. Back off. I will not hurt the boy. Her tone conveyed her frustration as she sent the thoughts to the lion. Sure, she wanted to hunt. She was hungry, and so was the wolf. However, she wasn't so desperate that she was going to let the wolf spill human blood. She was a little more civilized than that.

Exasperated, she focused her thoughts on the boy again. You are safe. I am in control and I will not harm you. The fact that you are not afraid is both surprising and helpful...my wolf does not want you.

Dire could not help it. He stared at the human boy in outright surprise. Is this boy...is this boy daft? he wondered.

When Sofia spoke to him, the demon knew that this was a lost cause. There was not, and had never been, a need to intervene here. Sighing, the demon finally dropped the aggressive mask and sat down, round ears twitching. He stared at Sofia with a passive gaze.

Wolf child, he said, I...apologize. I meant only to protect the boy. (Lie.) The quickness of the switch between attitudes would have given a normal person motion sickness, but Dire was used to this. Though he wasn't used to his plans being foiled so fast but...(Really, what could one do?)

So the boy was not a potential meal. Unfortunate.

Dire yawned, mostly to show how calm he was. Werewolf, are you still going to hunt? I wouldn't mind watching, as I've never seen a hunt before. Might as well get something from this even if it's just information. (He didn't know when personal experience of a were hunt would come in handy, but it might be good information to have.)

The demon withdrew completely from the girl's mind, and didn't enter Rai's either. Talking was no longer required here.

  • Rai had some weird look in his face. He wasn't sure what was going on, but he knew one thing for sure, ....That's amazing! The demon sat down and talked to sofia through telepathy, which he couldn't hear and had no idea was going on. He watched them, waiting for any to do something.

((Yo wit, if ya want dat contract thing, ya can ask ma char. Not sure if I'll agree though, I've no idea (real me, not char) wut dat contract is, but he (char) will probs think of it as something fun unless it really isn't XD))

The lion finally stood down, causing her wolf to relax just a little. She wasn't the best at scenting lies yet, and this demon was so skilled at lying that she almost didn't detect it. There was something that made the wolf's hackles raise just a little at his statement, but she did her best to just ignore it, assuming it was just the way that the demon had ruffled her fur.

She blinked at the lion. Had she been in human form, she would have frowned. It was strange for someone to be asking to watch her hunt...and she wasn't sure how she felt about it. Had Caius been here, she would have deferred to his judgement, but he wasn't, so she was on her own for this one. She and her wolf both weighed the options. It didn't quite sit right with her, for some reason, but she couldn't really figure out why. There didn't seem to really be much of a downside to letting the lion watch her hunt, assuming he could even keep up. Even for a werewolf, Sofia was fast.

I...should not hunt until the boy is safely out of the area, she finally decided. She knew better than to hunt with humans around, humans that could suddenly turn into prey when the bloodlust took over. Sofia sighed quietly and directed her thoughts at the human. Boy, I advise that you go home, she told him. I cannot hunt while your life is at risk.

The demon blinked lazily. If his safety is of concern, I would gladly watch over him while you hunt, he murmured to Sofia quietly, barely pushing any presence in her mind. Dire curled his fluffy tail around Rai's feet in an imitation of comfort. Then Rai would see he was a good devil and could be trusted around others. It'd be good to have an innocent on his side once in a while.

Dire was strong, but his trump would be useless against a were and a human. If things went downhill, he could always just bail and leave the boy to the wolf. Not his problem if the situation escalated too quickly. Besides, Dire thought with dark amusement, it would be fun to see guilt eat away at the werewolf once she realizes she killed her friend.

But that was probably just a fantasy. No need to get his hopes up. Just watch the human boy and try to make sure the wolf doesn't kill him.

((Lol I don't think Rai should have made a contract with Dire, tbh. It would almost certainly end in death;; ))
