Sofia gave him a startled look. "I, uh..." she scrambled for the right words. "That's not a very good idea. I could hurt you. Probably kill you," she told him solemnly. She didn't want to scare him off, but maybe it was a better idea if she did. "The change...happens when the moon gets full. It calls to me, like...a silent song that only I can here. It pulls my wolf out of me whether I want it to or not. The shift is very painful."

She kicked a rock from her path, watching it roll away. "That's why I have to be home when it happens...so I don't hurt anyone." It was kind of a lonely life, being a werewolf. She had to keep people at a distance. Caius was the only one that she allowed herself to get close to, but only because she knew that even if she did attack him, he could defend himself very well.

Don't worry about me, I will be fine. He answered her. It could've been scary, but it's not like he was smart enough for fear anyways. So, we wait the full moon? It seems were the only ones here, so you can transform here if you want. He was getting really excited. Just to think he I'd going to see a werewolf for real made him too excited to stand in one place. Luckily, he was walking with Sophia, not sitting.

Sofia shifted uncomfortably and looked up at the sky. The moon glinted at her through the light canopy of trees that stretched over the hiking trail. Its song called to her, stirring the wolf. She swallowed. "I suppose I don't have a choice at this point," she told him. The canopy thinned out and she stopped, the moon staring back at her. "You should...really get out of here," she gave him his final warning, swaying as her pupils dilated under the moon's gaze.

She dropped to a crouch, bracing her left hand against the ground and crying out as the change started to take her. The wolf woke up and tried to push to the forefront of her mind. She fought with it, begging to keep control. Her joints popped as the gruesome transformation began, fur stretching over raw skin. It took several minutes, but when it was complete, the black wolf with distinctive white markings stood hunched over in the pathway, silent aside from her ragged breathing. Then, suddenly, she tossed back her head and sang back to the moon, her deep howl lifting into the air.

Nah, don't worry about me. I'll be ok... Maybe. Hahaha He was starting to realize how stupid he was, but that didn't make him any smarter, it was just funny. Then she started transforming...

She seemed to be in pain. Are you okay? He asked. Transforming must be painful.... He continued watching, pitying her a little. Then she had completely transformed. Is that what a werewolf looks like?He was amazed by that, she looked like a horse, not a wolf, in this form. He watched, expecting her to attack him. But he wasn't scared, not with that stupidity of his.

There was something in the wind.

Dire rose, ears flicking. He'd sensed something off in the peacefulness of the night, some sort of alarm that told him something. Something was off. Not enough to feel dangerous, but enough to let him know humans could die, and that maybe he should slink off.

The demon narrowed his obsidian eyes and scented the air. Werewolf...and a human?

Darkness was quickly taking over the twilight, and a gleaming, full moon shone overhead. That explains it, Dire thought absently. A shifted were could definitely spell trouble, and the wolves were notorious for their hunts. He turned, ready to head back to a safer area...

Oh but the howl. It made something inside him want to growl back.

Maybe...maybe if he saved the poor human's life the mortal would want to make a contract with him. Dire grinned. It was worth a shot.

He turned again, this time heading over to the source of the howl.

Sofia's wolf was unsettled by the fact that someone unfamiliar had watched her change...and had been present when she'd been weak and exposed. The wolf growled, and Sofia growled too, staring at the boy who was now much smaller than she, her hackles raised. Her paws sunk into the packed dirt beneath her, leaving huge tracks as she stalked slowly towards the boy and scented him.

Sofia fought to keep herself in control. The wolf wanted to eat him, to feel his bones crushed between her jaws, to smell fear on him...but the lack of fear made it easier for her to calm the beast inside of her. Sofia kept the forefront. She was hungry, but she must not take that out on the boy. She reasoned with the wolf until it settled grumpily.

Using her telepathy, she scolded the boy. I could have killed you, she sent the thought directly to him, staring at him quietly. She sat herself down on the pathway and sighed. She would hunt soon...as soon as this boy's curiosity had been sated. Caius would have never let her hear the end of it had she killed somebody.

He watched, slightly smiling, as he was being smelled by the wolf. He was no longer doing that for his curiosity, it was now for fun. He just a child, and a weird one. It didn't feel wrong for him to be standing there watching the wolf. Or maybe it did, but still, he wanted to watch.

Then he was scolded by a voice in his head similar to Sofia's. Yeah, why didn't you? Oh wait, how do you talk without using your mouth? He asked her. That was all he thought about right now, not that he should run away.

A few minutes later, a devil arrived. Hey there! Rai greeted him before he continued watching Sofia. He didn't notice that was a devil, he only wanted to see how Sofia would behave as a wolf. Maybe he would watch the devil instead if he had realized what it was, but he hadn't.

Dire stalked forward and narrowed his eyes. Was the child not afraid of the were? The large, female wolf right in front of him? The demon huffed. There was still a chance to form a contract, but it would be much more difficult without him playing hero. He could still try.

Without speaking, the lion slipped itself between the human and the werewolf, massive body maneuvering to shield the boy. The human had called out in greeting, but there was a more pressing matter at hand.

He glared at Sofia, lips pulled back, baring his fangs. You. Why are you so reckless, out and about on a full moon? Are you still just a pup? Dire's dark, pupil-less eyes bored into the blue of the wolf's. Who is your alpha? Why are they not watching you?

Sofia struggled with the wolf as another creature appeared, unable to suppress another growl as he moved himself between her and the boy. She backed up to give herself room to maneuver should she get attacked, letting the wolf ready herself for a fight. She showed her teeth to the lion, her muzzle wrinkling as her lips curled back. It was only slightly bigger than she was. If this came down to a fight, she had a decent chance, her wolf told her.

I had no choice. The boy distracted me and then wanted to see the transformation. I told him it was dangerous, but he refused to listen. Please stand down. I am in control of my wolf, but only just, and you are threatening us. She sent the thoughts to the giant lion, her muscles tensing up beneath her jet black fur.

Dire considered his options.

If he wanted to form a contract with this boy, he'd need the human to be motivated to do so. However, the werewolf currently posed no threat at the moment, though she was barely in control. Should he risk aggravating her? The demon didn't know the strength of the wolf and had never fought with a werewolf before.

The risk was too high. Dire spared a quick glance at the boy, barely shifting his dark eyes. For a non-contractee (as of yet) yes, the risk outweighed the prize.

The demon pondered. There was still a way.

Boy, Dire began, his imposing voice suddenly filling Rai's mind, urgent, we must hurry! Your friend might have been able to control her wolf before, but she is quickly losing he grasp! See how she bares her teeth? See how she growls?

He leaned forward, mirroring the defensive pose of the were, quietly snarling. The broad shoulders of the lion blocked Rai's view of Dire's face, and the demon used it to send a flash of canines at Sofia.

The pull of the moon is too strong for her. She was going to kill you if I hadn't intervened, Dire lies. His voice is steady, showing no clue to his deceit.

Quickly turning his mind onto Sofia's, the demon takes a moment to goad the wolf. Perhaps it was too much, but he couldn't resist. Pup, he hisses, so young, so stupid. Do you honestly think you'll be in control for much longer? Do you honestly think you can resist the urge to hunt, to kill, to feel the rush of warm blood beneath your teeth?
