Mood swings really aren't fun.

As she blushed, Sabriel stuck his tongue out slightly, finding her blush a bit amusing. He smiled, obviously feeling less depressed than he had earlier. When she said that she wasn't, he shook his head. "Don't put yourself down," he said, but didn't say another word. He didn't want to push to change her mind, either. He doubted she had received many compliments since her friends left... well, that was definitely going to change, he would make sure of it.

When asked what his powers were, he bit the inside of his lip. "I can teleport through shadows," he said with a smile. Like always, he didn't mention the second part of his power, since he rarely used it. "What about you, Ella?"

The child blinked as the cat ears and tail appeared. They hadn't been there before... alright, this was confusing. He stuck his tongue out back at her when she did it to him, laughing slightly. He didn't mind it, really. When she said she was a shapeshifter, he nodded. "That explains the ears and tail, then," Sabriel said, more to himself them to her, but it wouldn't matter to him if she decided to comment.

He laughed again as her tail touched his nose. "Enjoy having a tail?" he asked, thinking the answer was slightly obvious, but feeling the need to ask her anyway. "Anyway, cool powers... I imagine that shapeshifting is fun?"

Sabriel laughed again when he saw how red her face was. Like her, the boy hadn't laughed this much or had this good of a time in a while. As her tail poked his nose once again, he decided it was time to 'fight' back, and poked her arm with his own tail. As her tail went back to her side, his did as well and he quickly stopped laughing. For the first time in a while, he had an actual friend. It was a good feeling.

".... Maybe someday we can practice together."

The thirteen year old nodded. "Sure, that sounds like it would be fun," he responded with a smile. "When do you wanna do that?" He then noticed her looking up, and just at that moment realized how dark outside it had become. He knew he should be leaving to go back to the academy, but he didn't care. "I should really be going back... but, I won't," he told her. "I'd rather stay out here with you, to be honest; you're the first friend I've had in a while, so I'll risk getting in trouble. It's not like we're gonna get lost out here or something, right?"

((OoC: Ok.))

—————————-

"Maybe we can tomarrow afternoon...after...lunch?"

The boy nodded happily. Oh, wow, he actually had plans for once! He would actually have something to do tomorrow instead of lay around in his dorm all day and wander around aimlessly. He knew Nicolas would be pleased that he had made a new friend, though he may get teased a bit because Ella was a girl. Older brothers could be such a pain. "Alright, sounds good to me!" he said. "Where should we meet? Is the lawn ok?" It seemed like a good choice. The place was close to the school in case anything went wrong, and he didn't think too many people would be out there; not when there were more interesting places around the place like the forbidden area.

Sabriel smiled when he noticed her cheeks go red after what he had spoken. However, when she said that she felt the same, his face turned a slight pinkish color as well. "Thanks," he said.

"And I highly doubt we can get lost. I mean...it's only the wilderness. And the stars are already appearing."

He nodded in agreement as she said that. "Exactly. Plus, I brought a flash light in case it gets too dark... just as a precaution, you know?" Sabriel smiled and pulled the small tool from his pocket. Well, at least if the stars disappeared because of clouds they would at least have a light.

"So... ehh..." the thirteen-year-old paused, trying to think of something new to talk about. "Alright, be warned of the lame topic coming up. What's your favorite band? Yeah.... I'm not fantastic when it comes to thinking up interesting things to talk about... sorry."

"The lawn is great!"

He blinked, but definitely understood her enthusiasm. Sabriel hadn't had plans with anyone outside of his family for a long time, either. Now all he had to do was hope a mood swing didn't occur to ruin everything. He doubted it would, but his moods could change so easily at times that it couldn't be told when his mood would change next. When she corrected herself with a more calm answer, he laughed softly. "Ok, good," he said. "I'll see you there tomorrow. And don't feel bad about being enthusiastic about it." Her correcting herself and looking away had pretty much told that she was embarrassed, so he wanted to assure her that she didn't need to be.

"Heheh, thats pretty genious stuff right there."

Sabriel laughed. "Oh, yes, indeed," he said.

When she said that she liked Evanescence, he grinned. He liked Evanescence too, though he had never listened to The Used before. "Evanescence," he said with a smile when she asked what his favorite band was. He was glad that they had found something else in common. It was tempting to break out into song, but he wouldn't. Ella's ears would probably start bleeding, since he wasn't exactly talented when it came to singing. "They're awesome. Haven't listened to The Used before, though."

"Okay, I won't."

Sabriel returned her smile. It was weird that she responded like that... well, at least he thought it was. Just the way she agreed and listened... maybe all people were like that, but he didn't honestly know. He didn't spend too much time around others, after all. He threw the thought away and listened to what she said next.

"but it's also kind of hard core, you know? I don't listen to it that much anymore, I'm kind of sticking to Evanescence...comeon, sing something!"

The thirteen year old nodded when Ella said that they were more rockish. He was caught off guard when she said to sing something, and his face went completely red. "W-What?" he said. "No! No, no, no, I-I can't!! I'm not good at singing!" After a moment, the embarrassment went away and he sighed, deciding he might as well give in. It couldn't hurt... right? Besides, the cat-eared child was having fun, a sing-along might add to the fun.

"Fine... but only if you sing too..." he said with a slight grin. He was not going to sing alone and make her laugh at him.

"EEK!"

He laughed at her obvious sign of not wanting to sing. Well, if she wanted him to sing, she would just have to deal with it and do it too. He really didn't want to sing by himself, and besides, he didn't know what he even could have sang. Sure, Evanescence was his favorite band, but he didn't exactly know how well he could sing along to them.

Once she started singing, Sabriel offered a soft smile of reassurance. She really wasn't that bad in his opinion. His ears weren't bleeding yet, after all. Once it was his turn, the thirteen year old took a deep breath, and opened his mouth. "Wake me up!"

Well, so far, he didn't sound like an idiot. Then again, it had only been three little words.

Once she started laughing, an eyebrow raised slightly. What was so funny? It's my voice, isn't it...? Sabriel thought to himself. However, he couldn't help but start laughing as hard as she was. Laughter was contagious, that wasn't his fault. Even if she was laughing at him, he supposed he didn't really care. He had a bad voice and he knew it.

"T-that was g-great!"

"Haha, it was!" the boy agreed, nodding. "You have a really good voice, you know." He hoped she didn't think too badly about her voice. If she did, he would have to whack her upside the head. She wasn't bad. It was still only his opinion, though.

"Don't worry, you sound really good actually. I'm laughing at myself, I guess."

Sabriel smiled a bit when she said he was good. "Thanks," he said, deciding not to argue with her. Once she said she was laughing at herself, he poked her arm lightly. "You're good too. You shouldn't laugh at yourself, you know." The thirteen year old offered a small smile, wondering if she would believe him or not.

"Well...not really...but thanks anyways!"

He smiled. She did seem to have trouble accepting compliments. He did too at times, though, so he couldn't really say anything. The lack of being social and his slightly low self-esteem had caused it, really. "You're welcome," he told her with a smile.

"Why not, Sabe?"

Sabe? It seemed she figured out his nickname. He had forgotten to tell her earlier... oops. At least she had figured it out on her own. Anyway, he needed to answer her question and stop thinking. "Well, I meant, like..." he paused. "Don't laugh meanly at yourself, yes, there, that's my wonderful self-correction." He rolled his dark golden eyes at himself. "And it seemed like you were laughing meanly at yourself... I don't know. I'm gonna stop talking now."

That hadn't made any sense, had it? Sabriel sighed inwardly, doubting it had, but he had put it as best as he could.

"Ehhhhyyaaaa no! .... Don't stop talking please...it's...good when you talk."

He blinked at her screech, eyebrow raised, and smiled softly at her second, calmer statement. "Well, I'm glad at least one person thinks so," he said. It was slightly more to himself than to her, but it was still loud enough for her to hear and reply to if she did so choose.

"I don't have much self confidence anyways."

"Me neither," Sabriel said.

In attempt to start a better subject, or, at least something random that might last for a while, he decided it was time for random questions. "Guess what, Ella?! It's RANDOM QUESTION TIME!!" he exclaimed, throwing his arms into the air for extra affect. "Alright. If you were in a lake full of fish, what would you do?" It was a weird question, and had absolutely nothing to do with anything, but that was why this was called random question time.
