Izziel stood in front of his bed with a bag held under his arm, staring at the two other new purchases from the mall laid out on the sheets. A black skirt with lace accents and a complementary grey top. Though he was experimenting with styles of dress, he hadn't changed his preferences on neutral color palettes. Glancing at the time to make sure he'd still have his privacy for a bit, the imp spent a brief minute changing into his new outfit, or at least part of it. From the bag, he pulled out a black pair of tights, blinking at the unfamiliar garment and struggling over a couple minutes to get them put on.

Now, the intimidating part came. He emptied the rest of the bag on his desk, some relatively basic makeup, albeit a complete mystery to him. Izzy set his phone in front of his mirror on its side, pulling up a number of video tutorials online and following their instructions as best as he can. It was difficult, even with help. He made a few mistakes, having to start over, losing track of time, but most importantly he actually found himself having fun.

Chloe found herself in a position that still felt uncomfortable to her. Acting like a mom to an unruly teenager. When she first summoned Izziel, first started setting her plan into motion to save him from hell, she never expected that this is where it would lead her.

But here she was. She was responsible for him now, and his behavior lately had been a bit inappropriate. She had been putting this conversation off, talking to another parent or two, getting some advice before finally, she walked up to his room.

Knock knock knock. Before he could say anything, the door knob started to turn, and the door slowly began to open. This gave him a window, at least, to say something if he needed privacy. If he had the resolve to speak up.

"Hey, Izziel. Can we talk about something?"

She didn't see him yet, but if he didn't speak up in the next two or three seconds that would change.

By the time Chloe had arrived back home, two things had happened. Firstly, he had finally finished putting on his makeup to a point where it did actually look pretty good. Secondly, he had unfortunately completely lost track of time. So, when his doorknob started turning while he was appraising his work, it naturally startled him, causing a bit of a miniature panic.

Rather than calling out for her to wait a bit, or saying anything at all, his first instinct was to try and quickly hide all the makeup on his desk. He hastily started wrangling most of it into the bag from the store...most, because in his hurry he managed to knock a nearly full container of powder blush onto the carpet. As it spilled, right as Chloe would have seen him, he let out a quick and panicked "Fuck!", and promptly froze when his eyes fell on her in the doorway.

The sounds from Izzy's room only made her worry and open the door faster. What was going on? Was he okay?

When the door swung fully open, she found him wearing a dress. Face covered in makeup. Spilling his blush all over the carpet. She just sort of froze there for a moment, staring. Processing.

Just as the silence was starting to get uncomfortable, Chloe knew what she had to do. A slight gasp, and then: "Izzy! You look so cute! Beautiful, even. Where did you get that dress? It really suits you." All complimenting, all supportive. Maybe even a little excited?

The carpet could wait. So could everything else.

In contrast to the more natural (for humans, at least) color of blush that he had knocked over, the color that tinted his cheeks was the most bright neon pink that Chloe had probably ever seen on his face. Izziel wasn't exactly sure how to react to Chloe's enthusiasm about how he looked, brushing some of his straightened hair out of his face and still finding himself frozen.

Izzy found himself instinctually smoothing out and straightening his skirt, entirely forgoing any sort of eye contact for the time being. "...Thank you." He fidgeted a little with the now empty bottle he'd spilled, turning it over in his hands and curling his toes. "There's a shop at the mall that I've..gotten a couple things from."

Right. Chloe remembered the feeling that Izzy was probably feeling. Overwhelmed. Maybe a little euphoric, too, but - maybe getting that carpet straightened out right now wouldn't be such a bad idea after all. Just to give him a second to breathe.

It also occurred to her where Izzy was probably getting the money to buy this stuff: doing other kids' homework for them. This was one of the things Chloe needed to talk to him about, had been intending to talk to him about. But she had new priorities now, and she was shuffling them around in real time; the homework situation was becoming a lower priority.

"Hold on a second. I'll be right back with a vacuum cleaner. And - well, something else. I think you'll like it. I'll be right back." In a fraction of a second, she was shrouded in darkness, then her silhouette seemed to quickly fade out of existence.

Soon she would be heading down the hallway with a vacuum in one hand, and a small rectangular container of blush in the other. "You can have this blush. I'm not using it, and it sort of matches the color you actually blush in a little better than what you have on. So you'll get a lot better use out of it than I could."

Izzy's brow furrowed deeper while Chloe talked, watching her fade out and going to sit on his bed. He no idea why, but in stark contrast to his typical apathy, he felt like something about all this should embarrass him. He felt vulnerable and exposed, even with how obviously supportive Chloe was.

When she returned, he glanced briefly between the vacuum and the makeup she was carrying and eventually gave a stiff nod of thanks. A few moments of uncomfortable silence hung in the air once again, Izzy rubbing at his arm and staring down at the reddish pink powder on the floor. "...So, you don't...think that this is weird? Whatever this even is?"

Chloe was getting the vacuum plugged in now, but she wouldn't start it just yet. At Izziel's question, Chloe thought for a moment before saying: "I don't care if it's weird. Gender is weird. If you want to wear clothes that girls usually wear sometimes, that's great! They look cute on you. And hell, if you decide that you'd rather be a girl than a boy, I'll support you in that. Or whatever else you want to do with all this."

The slightest hesitation, and then: "You know, I was actually born as a boy. I became this way because I wanted to be. So... if anything, this just gives us another thing to bond over."

Izzy focused on an arbitrary point of the vacuum as his center of vision, listening to Chloe talk but still not quite on board with the whole eye contact thing. What she was saying both made sense, and was hopelessly confusing, especially the whole notion of actually being a girl rather than just dressing like one. Of course, being called cute again didn't do much to let the neon blush on his cheeks recede, all of his body language indicating that he was experiencing a healthy mix of embarrassment and mild discomfort.

When Chloe mentioned how she had been a boy before, however, he finally glanced upwards. Thinking back to the discussion he'd had with Maddie the other day, he debated mentioning that someone had told him that before, but opted not to in case Chloe would view it as a breach of privacy and be upset by it. "...Huh...I mean, I know that transitioning is a thing, of course. I just haven't thought much about any of it." Looking back down to the stain, he furrowed his brow, fidgeting with the hem of his skirt a little. "Honestly I have no idea how I want to approach any of this. It's a lot of new feelings."

"I don't think anyone does."

She turned on the vacuum, and in a matter of seconds the powder was all sucked up. It was a remarkably quiet vacuum cleaner, though. It made an annoying noise, sure, but it didn't bother the ears that much, and people in adjacent rooms might not even notice it.

Her tail snaked around the cord, tugging it out of the wall socket.

"At least. I didn't at first. But I figured out what I needed eventually, so feel free to talk to me about it if you ever want to. But..." Chloe sat down on his bed "I actually wanted to talk to you about something else, first."

Deep breath. This was a long time coming, but it was hard for her. She was just too damn nice to him, wasn't she? Just like everyone said. Always with the kid gloves, treating him like his emotions were fragile and delicate. Meanwhile... well, one only needed to look at how he was behaving. How it was making Dalia feel.

"You've been making Dalia miserable. I'm sure you noticed her storming off to her room a lot when you're around. That's not a her problem. You've been antagonizing her a lot, and you've been pretty rude to her and to a lot of other people while she was around. People tell me it's even worse when I'm not around. When I made a place in our home for you, I didn't want to act... too much like a mom, if that makes sense? I didn't want to boss you around a lot. But you're making it really hard for me to justify that. So..." Another sigh. "Look, you have to stop acting like that. Do you know what I'm referring to, Izzy?"

She had a followup question. "So, what's going on? Why do you keep antagonizing people like that?"
