Once Chloe sat down on the bed, it didn't take very long at all for Izziel to show pretty clearly how he was feeling in his body language. He was closing himself off, drawing his knees up and resting his arms on top of them. Did he know what she was referring to? Of course he did, and that obviously did little to dispel the obnoxious sense of shame he felt.

He was quiet, only for about forty seconds at most, but that was enough time for the silence between them to become uncomfortable and heavy. When he did finally speak, Izzy didn't look at Chloe, instead fixing his attention back on the same spot of the vacuum he'd focused on earlier. "I know what you're talking about. I don't, however, exactly what is wrong with me."

His brow furrowed slightly, thumb tracing over some of the lace of his skirt. "It's not like I go around wanting to be negative, like it's some outlook I just opted into. I don't want Dalia to feel bad, or you, or anybody that isn't an asshole, but there's just this...it feels like something isn't there that's supposed to be, and there's just this bitterness and anger in its place. I don't want it, but it follows me everywhere, and at this point I just don't know how to be fucking happy and that makes me want to scream." Izzy had lost his composure slightly towards the end, talking faster and with more animation than usual, but that was quick enough to fade. "...I'm sorry. Can I get my punishment now?"

That answer just made her heart sink. "Izzy..."

She didn't say anything for a moment. She thought, for a moment how could she even punish him? After all the abuse he'd been through, far more severe than anything Chloe was willing to do, for things that weren't even his fault...

She shook her head. "I'm glad you told me all that, actually. Because... I want you to be happy. And even though I might not know how to help you with that, it's a good thing to talk to a therapist about. They should be able to help." She hoped so, at least.

"But... do you think it would help if I punished you?" This was a serious question. "If I were to do something, like... grounding you, or taking away your TV and computer privileges when you do something bad enough. Would you behave better?" Chloe had her doubts, honestly, and this was some territory well outside of the standard parenting advice she could find.
