Very few things surprised Fe, but this revelation did. Although, she was not one to become overly excited about things either, and so Fe quite simply quirked an eyebrow questioningly when Purity mentioned he was a singer.

"Really? That's rather interesting," she remarked casually, "And just what do you sing? Jazz, pop, folk, opera?," she asked very curiously, having a somewhat difficult time reconciling the idea of this nervous soul to one that sang on the internet.

"It is also a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Morey," Zoraida remarked politely, pleased that he appeared to know who she was. "And no, we have not met before," she said as she took a glass of wine from a waiter who stopped by them with a tray of refreshments.

"It's curious that you mention Grovefire Manor," she admitted pleasantly. "I had been looking at a property closeby, but ended up buying something a little closer to the ocean," she admitted. "Actually, it's right on the coast," she chuckled.

Taking a sip of her wine, Zora motioned to the sculpture, it was of two handpainted winged fairies dancing near a sapling. It seemed, for some reason, not to be quite his style. Something in her suggested a deeper darker association, but there were so many people in the room at the moment, Zora's sense of evil and darker things was on high, and so she had chosen to ignore it altogether.

"Were you looking for anything in particular?" she asked Colten curiously.

Colten smiled in return for the politeness and causally gestured to the waiter that he was not interested in wine at the moment. Apparently they had assumed that he might take a glass since Zora had, but Colten would wait until a little bit later to take a glass. When he was good and ready.

"I suppose some do prefer to be by the ocean. Personally I find my late step-father's family home to be exactly fitting for my needs and taste. But then not all demons are too fond of water," he ruminated with a hint at something graver hidden in his polite tone. His mother had been hurt quite badly by water of the holy variety, and it seemed that even within the last months a similar thing had been attempted in the Academy. That weighed heavily on Colten.

She was absolutely right- the fairies were not at all his style. Of course she might not have realized it with all the people around she would have been completely unable to tell whether he was evil or not. He was definitely a demon though, and he and his family had a very well documented history of supporting demonkind on the island.

"I was hoping I might find a few things of a... darker nature than this," he chuckled as his tail flicked to accentuate his statement. "Grovefire Manor has a certain aesthetic I must keep up with. But if I don't find anything to purchase I may just have to make do with an evening of socializing- not the worst thing to happen on this cold winter night," he finished, exuding a carefully crafted sense of charm. Not really for Zoras benefit so much as for himself. Taking great pride in himself and all that, after all, was pretty much literally in his DNA.

"U-Uh... well..."

Purity truthfully had no idea how to describe exactly what music he sang. People often described his music as being very "unique" in quality, defined by soft acoustic tones, his soft high pitched voice, and lyrics that were both dark and "ethereal" in nature. All of it came together to make something specially his, and he was unsure of how to label it. Eventually though, he decided to just describe it as it is instead of labeling.

"W-Well... it's a l-little s-strange, b-but... I d-don't really sing a specific ge-genre. What I s-sing is... m-my own. I c-compose songs on my g-guitar and r-record them in my room." He shuffled his feet and stared down at them for a moment, feeling equal parts nervous and embarrassed. However, after a pause he forced himself to continue. "S-Some people d-describe my music as... d-dark. Ethereal. H-Haunting sometimes."

When Colten mentioned being a demon, Zora just looked at him calmly, and then nodded once in quiet understanding. Also, hiding the fact that she had, a) heard the various rumours surrounding him and Grovefire Manor, and b) was surprised to hear that they were somewhat, if not all possibly, true.

"I am afraid demons are not the only ones, not all witches find large bodies water calming either," she admitted mildly, referring to the history witches had had over the last centuries with witch hunters and their insane theories of drowning witches or submitting them to trials by fire or water.

Glancing at Colten as she continued, "however, it's the element I am most aligned with, and I find its presence rather comforting."

Zora chuckled when Colten admitted to hoping to see something of a darker nature, giving him a small, if not amused, smile.

"Come with me," she said then as she placed her wine glass on the tray of a waiter passing by. "What you are looking for is over here," she told him as she led him to a brightly lit, but somewhat out of the way, alcove. The bright lighting was to counter the effects that the three pieces gave off so guests did not feel the effects of each piece that badly.

"Dead Man's Folly," she explained, gesturing to the statue of an old gnarled oak tree that had been hand-carved from jet that gave off a sense of loneliness and despair if one got too close.

Then she gestured to a painting, "Emily," she stated, shivering slightly as she gazed warily at the picture of a hauntingly beautiful raven-haired woman in white. Zora had no idea about the piece's history. She only knew that when she had first touched it, she had almost fainted in pain.

'And that there," she said, eyeing Colten while referring to a tapestry of a young knight fighting a wolf, "was donated by one of our patron's," she explained, having to step back from the tapestry itself as it emitted - at least for her - a clear sense of grief and sadness.

"Ethereal and haunting?" Fe said as she eyed Purity with something akin to confused understanding. She had definitely not expected that out of him, and yet, the more she looked at him and considered him as a singer with talent instead of a non-talented person, the more she could see it.

"I think I get it," she finally admitted. Her sirin songs were somewhat otherworldly too if she sang them as they were purely meant to be sung - which she rarely did for fear of hurting others and as much as she wanted to succeed, she was not about using her music like that to get there.

"And do you always sing alone?" she asked him. "Not even for friends or family?"

A short burst of nervous laughter escaped Purity - however, this time, instead of being purely nervous, it was tinged with a bit of bitterness, or perhaps sadness.

"W-Well... I d-don't exactly have a-any family, or even f-friends I c-could sing for."

It was true. He had been born quite alone in the world, without any parents, siblings, or extended family to call his own. In terms of friends, he was majorly isolated, a problem he knew he needed to fix.

A heavy sigh escaped him as he pondered this, and more shuffling of his cat-like feet ensued. He wondered if Fe herself was more open, as she seemed to be - whether or not she sang outside of performances.

"Wh-What about y-you? A-Are there a lot of p-people you s-sing for?"

Fe sipped at her drink quietly and listened without saying much while Purity talked. She, herself, couldn't quite imagine a world or a life being isolated from others. And while she didn't have a big family, she liked to surround herself with friends, fans or admirers... she thrived on attention, and she knew it.

"I love to sing for others," Fe told him earnestly as she placed her empty glass on a tray of a passing waiter and helped herself to 2 glasses of champagne - one for herself, the other glass she handed to Purity.

"I live for it. Singing is part of me, it's, like, in my blood," she told him as she moved away from the wall and leaned against a table nearby. "I am a sirin, and music just calls to me," she said as she held her glass in one hand.

"Have you never felt the urge to just sing, express yourself, no matter where you are or who's around?" she asked curiously.

It was wonderful. A gathering of minds, that loved and appreciated art, a night of inspiration and fascinating conversations, good music and fantastic pieces of art. You couldn't blame Huilu for being mesmerized, especially since she had the honour of having her art on display. Huilu's primary goal wasn't for someone to buy her art, or to gain fame. As long as her art brought people joy Huilu was happy. After all, she made art because it was the only way she could be.

For tonight Huilu had picked a long white, slightly see-through silk dress, that was adorned by silver glitter and small pearls, that formed swirls all over the fabric. Her bright blue hair was curled and on an updo, that had the curls cascading down on Huilu's shoulder. On her hand Huilu had a glass of non-alcoholic beverage, she wanted to be completely sober to enjoy this.
Huilu looked like a child in a candy store, touring from piece to piece in awe and talking to fellow artists, her happiness and wonder evident. Huilu had seen different styles of art regrettably little, and she was soaking in all she could. And she also wanted to forget, just for one night, who she was and what kind of responsibilities waited for her outside this ballroom.

Colten nodded, he had read plenty about how witches used to be treated. "I see. Well, I won't begrudge you your own particular style of comfort. Though if you could kindly tell this frozen water all over the island to take an extended vacation I would appreciate it," he joked with Zora and then followed her to the other exhibition when she suggested it.

Colten walked right up near the oak tree statue, immune to whatever emotional effects it might have had. "You're right, these are definitely a little darker themed." He was clearly not stupid enough to actually see if he could touch any of the art. But he was examining all three pieces.

"I have to admit this is a curious set of three items and they really do pique my interest somewhat. Mostly as inspiration for a story. A poor wife left at home while a husband went off to war. A great beast came in and slew the wife and the man returned only to find her remains. A vow of revenge made and fulfilled in wolf blood, only for him to find he had nothing left afterwards. Then the knight sat beneath an old tree and withered away," he rattled off a general summary of what probably could become a novel or even a small series of them if he really wanted to put forth the effort. That was how his mind worked sometimes.

His tail flicked a few times as his creative mind was inspired. "I do have to ask though if there are some sort of precautions being taken for these particular items. I noticed how bright it is right here and they're a bit harder to find than some of the tamer pieces," he asked very astutely. If he was going to even consider purchasing something like that he would make sure he knew everything about a piece before displaying it in his home.

Zora stood back a little more from the objects and politely let Colten inspect them, and while auras did not usually affect her, non-living things that held some sort of evil or melancholy nature did.

Glancing at Colten curiously when he mentioned the objects gave him inspiration, Zora listened raptly to his ideas. "That is quite the story, Mr. Morey," she remarked, pleasantly surprised at how he had linked the three pieces together like he had to create a story out of them.

At his question, Zoraida nodded in understanding, "The objects are not cursed like many take the word to mean," she explained guessing that he knew what she meant, but proceed anyways, just in case. "You won't die or have bad luck if you own or possess them," she said, having taken great care to make sure the pieces were not dangerous.

"However, they do exude..." here she stopped for a second to find the right word, "a certain darkness or presence. It's sort of like if you are too long in the room with the artifacts, you feel a sadness or a darkness that is heavy on your heart after a while and want to leave."

"The painting," which was encased in glass, "Is really the only one I'd worry about somewhat," she told him.

"I suspect something bad happened to the woman or maybe the painter, and now its imbued with that. Those that can feel or are affected by these type of things could be hurt if they touch or get too close to the painting, but a normal person, I'd suspect would be fine around it," she said to Colten.

Colten smiled wide as she complemented his impromptu story. "Indeed, it would be quite an interesting story to write. I'll have to add it to my list," he agreed and then actually pulled out a tiny notebook to jot down his ideas. The somewhat battered leather bound notebook seemed to be somewhere around half filled with whatever other ideas he'd thought of or been inspired by.

Colten was certainly familiar with curses and other magical effects. He'd been well educated on matters of the supernatural. He listened intently to her as she assuaged any concerns he had. "Good, I would have been disappointed if you let some poor soul purchase dangerous art tonight. Truth be told I'm not so interested in the painting, but the sculpture and possibly the tapestry do interest me," he replied. He'd just have to be careful where they were placed in the manor if he did make a purchase.
