KirMir had been ramping up their search for challenges. They were eager to become closer to their regalia and with each one they bonded with they felt just a little bit safer. So when they had stumbled across Tam they had agreed to setting up a challenge later that evening. their Regalia had been busy with classes but would be free later that day.

In fact KirMir had decided to do something somewhat out of character for them. They had decided to have the challenge outside of a night club so that once it was completed they could treat the two regalia they had brought with them to a little dancing. Alette was too young to drink but she could dance. Aria was old enough, though they likely would opt not to drink so Alette wasn't left alone. KirMir themselves were wary about drinking too much anyway.

So KirMir waited off towards the side of the building, away from the line of people heading inside. Kir, the male body, was watching to the left and Mir, the female body, was watching to the right. Alette, a quiet 16 year old girl, stood between KirMir's bodies in her nice, if a little plain, dress. Aria, an 18 year old woman stood off to the side next to Kir but leaning on the wall. She was dressed for going out too, but she was wearing pants instead of a dress. With a thin black jacket over top of her shirt too. KirMir seemed to match in a reserved, classy style.

"So are you going to invite the person you are challenging to come dancing too?" Aria asked Kirmir. After a pause for consideration Mir replied, "We are focused mostly on the challenge for now. We shall decide afterwards."

"Either way we will still go dancing with you two," added Kir. Alette gave a small smile at that.

Tam was enjoying whatever this regalia game, competition was. They'd only joined it on a whim, much like everything they did, but they were already meeting such interesting people. They definitely wanted to get closer to their regalia, but finding challenges had been somewhat more difficult than they'd anticipated. Mostly because they kept getting distracted, and they were somewhat illiterate.

Marta had been a big help with this. Tam might not have seemed the type to get along with a woman who valued organization, but they were very malleable, and she was pleased to find someone receptive. The regalis had been the one to find the challengers and make sure Tam got where they needed to be.

Tam's eyes lit up when they saw the night club, but with a gentle nudge from Marta they turned their attention to Kir Mir instead. The demon was in human form, looking slightly feminine, wearing a simple red jacket and black leather pants, as well as their nullification bracelet. They'd wanted to be in demon form, but Marta had suggested they'd be better off starting like this.

Marta herself was a friendly looking woman with long black hair and curled ram's horns, wearing a long white dress with a golden spiderweb on top. She whispered in Tam's ear that they should greet Kir Mir, then stood back to watch. A small smile on her face like a mother hen watching a chick.

"Good evening. Mm, you are ready for a challenge now, yes?" Glancing at the nightclub curiously, they added, "Does it involve dancing?"

KirMir watched as Tam and Marta approached. Mir stepped a little bit forward from the others. "Unfortunately no. Alette is interested in seeing us seek truths. We decided to be efficient and hold the challenge by the club so we can go in after it has been completed. We are KirMir, and these are Alette and Aria by the way," Mir said as they gestured to the regalia accompanying them Alette waved and Aria said a brief but kind hello.

Kir did not appear to be paying attention to Tam and Marta quite as much, seeming to be watching the other people passing by. However they chimed in as well, "We were thinking a game of '20 questions' would be appropriate and reasonably easy to take part in?"

The thing about Tam that made it hard for them to concentrate was that they were riddled with desire, drawn in so many different directions by their own nature. They just wanted to have fun, yes, but it was more desperate than happy. Tam would say yes to pretty much anything Kir Mir offered, and they did so enthusiastically, as if they were a child rather than an adult.

Marta gave a good-natured sigh at the demon's antics. It might've been hard to tell who was the regalis and who was supposed to be doing the challenge. But she didn't seem to be upset by this.

Unable to decide who to address, Tam focused on the one actually talking to them, not quite realizing Kirmir was one person, and slightly confused by this. "My name is Tam. This is Marta. Seeking truths sounds mm..." Actually they didn't know what it sounded like. Not something they often did, at least not in a typical sense. They just trailed off and looked at their regalis , relieved when Kirmir had a suggestion for a challenge.

Of course they'd never actually heard of the game, so they were a little mixed up on what that entailed, "We have to ask 20 questions? I can ask a lot of questions. This world is still strange to me."

Tam was very enthusiastic. Much more than they expected for someone who was just told that the challenge was going to be a thinking game as opposed to something like dancing- which they seemed to express interest in doing. Maybe they would invite Tam to join them after the challenge.

"Hello Tam and Marta," Mir nodded as they greeted them by name. "We can explain how the game will work. One contestant thinks of a person, place or thing. The other contestant asks questions to try to determine what the first contestant selected. The questions can only be answered as 'yes' or 'no', possibly 'I don't know' if you really don't know. They only have 20 questions and then they must guess what the person, place, or thing is. Whomever guesses it correctly, or in the least number of questions if we both guess correctly, wins. If neither of us guess correctly then we will decide who came closer or just find another tiebreaker." They spoke clearly and in a sort of factual, but not unfriendly tone.

Aria reached into her jacket pocket and pulled out a water bottle that clearly would not have fit inside it. "Would anyone else like some water?" She was addressing everyone, including Tam and Marta. Alette nodded and KirMir declined.

"We would recommend modifying it to only places, things or animals present on the island to keep things simple and fair. We came from a different planet so we likely know of many things and people you would have no way of knowing and vice versa," added Kir. The two bodies talked in the exact same tone, with the only difference being that Kir sounded more masculine and Mir sounded more feminine. For the most part only one of them was focused on Tam and Marta at a time. The other was shifting their focus between their two regalia and their surroundings.

Tam listened quietly to KirMir's explanation. If they'd been in their demon form, their tail would've been waving from concentration, as it was they just stared, absently fiddling with their bracelet. It seemed a simple enough game - if they could concentrate on one thing long enough to be asked questions about it.

"It can be anything from here, then? .. Or anyone we know?" Tam's lips pursed in thought, and they pointed at Marta. "Can she help me? For mm keeping track? " The demon did not think they'd do very well at this. They hadn't exactly paid much attention to anything other than drugs or sugar or other such things, even on this trip where they'd tried to do something new. But the thought of losing didn't bother them, they just wanted to play.

Left to their own devices, Tam wouldn't normally drink water, but they nodded anyways at Aria's offer. Saying no was not in their nature.

"Who should start?"

Mir seemed to take over as the one addressing Tam and Marta as Kir was focused on their surroundings. "Your regalis may assist you if that would make you more comfortable. We would prefer if you did not select a person unless they are reasonably well known but otherwise anything present on the island should be appropriate," answered Mir. They had considered the fact that Marta might give some unknown advantage to Tam but they were also not in the competition for wins necessarily. they had joined to learn about the regalia and continued to take part once they learned how useful they were. For their abilities, and for the growing friendships they were gaining. Both were valuable in their own ways, and they would give up neither of them.

Aria gladly handed over a bottle of water to anyone who accepted the offer, starting with Tam. She seemed to pull them out of an unending pocket like a more reserved, tasteful version of the old clown pulling handkerchiefs out of their sleeve gag. She really had just stuck a case of water in her pocket dimension before heading out for the evening. Alette also accepted a bottle and Kir accepted one to split with their two bodies.

"We already have selected our choice for this game if you would like to begin asking your 20 questions Tam."

Tam nodded. This seemed like a simple game, but they were still glad they had Marta to help keep them on track because they weren't certain they could focus long enough to even attempt to play this without her. In fact, they wandered over to her, sort of casually hugging her with one arm and laying their head on her shoulder. And Marta smiled and said, "If you're having trouble starting, just remember you're trying to narrow things down. Right now you have to find out animal, place, or thing."

Sticking close to Marta, but addressing KirMir, Tam started with the basics. "mmm Is it an animal?" followed by "Is it a place? " when the first question was answered no. Since it was a place, they had to figure out where it might be. Looking at the nightclub made Tam think of two kinds of places, so they asked, "Is it outside?" And that was a yes. They didn't have much experience being outside... well outside and not getting drugs and/or headed for some place inside. But they knew that there were generally trees outside unless you were somewhere like the city. That gave them their next two questions - "Does it have a lot of trees?" and "Is it in the city?" which to their surprise were both answered with a no.

They paused for a breath, to think this through, and to drink a little more water, even though they didn't actually need it.

Alette drank some of her water as she watched the start of the game with quite a bit of interest. KirMir did not seem to need to confer with their regalia before answering their questions and indeed had not told them what types of things they might select for the topic. It would be fun to guess along in her head as Tam asked their questions.

Kir continued apparently not focusing on the game at all, though in reality it was all one mind so they were both watching for threats and playing the game at once. Mir handled the talking for the game's first round. Tam had asked whether it was an animal and Mir had responded that "it is not." Their mind had not gone to living creatures when they made their selection. Perhaps because they did not have a great deal of interaction with nature or animals.

However the next question had been whether it was a place or not. Mir had nodded and confirmed in a very simple tone, "Yes." It definitely had fit the definition of a place. They noticed as Tam glanced over at the nightclub they stood outside and gave a small smile as they had been tempted to select their current location as one that might be difficult to guess. Their place was indeed outside and they gave another simple "yes" to that question.

Anyone who knew KirMir would have known they didn't do a lot of things outdoors unless they were going to or from somewhere. Part of living most of their life on space stations meant that the outdoors were vaguely unsettling. They noted that such a thing could be used against someone though. If they played against Alette or Aria it could throw them off since both were fairly familiar with their daily movements and what things bothered them by that point.

They smiled again as the next two questions came in. Mir softly answered "no" and "no" to each of them. A place without trees, outside and not in the city would be a difficult one to figure out. They felt like they were doing fairly well so far. The place they had chosen was deceptively difficult to guess.

Alette glanced over at Aria and nodded towards Kir. With a return nod the older girl walked over to whisper to him that they could relax a little bit. Alette and Aria would keep an eye on things if they wanted to focus more on the game. Kir gave a small smile and thanked her before also nodding at Alette. They shifted their focus more on Marta than Tam though. "You seem like a reliable partner for them. A good pairing," they said. It wasn't really a question but it seemed complimentary rather than accusatory. They had said it was fine for them to work together and they had meant it.

Aria smiled at Tam as they drank the water. She didn't know whether they needed it or not but at least it wasn't going to waste.

Marta smiled over at Tam when KirMir complimented their pairing. "I'm happy to hear that. I wasn't too certain at first, but they seem to appreciate having someone to help them organize." Then she noticed Tam struggling a bit and walked over to them. "Try thinking of places you've been, even for a little bit. Where did you go when you came to the island?"

Tam wrinkled their nose in thought, absently drinking more water. Really they had mostly been downtown or with other people, the community center... It was a bit of a blur most of it, though less so than the few other times they'd visited Earth - perhaps they were improving a little. They'd been up to the space station for that game, but that wasn't on the island. And then they thought, "... is it on the school grounds? "

They were relieved that it was, even if that brought up a new problem of not knowing what was on the school grounds. Tam asked Marta what places she knew, but it turned out the regalis hadn't spent much time there either. Though at least she had spent some time looking at maps of the island.

Tam had some questions to spare so they decided to ask about the biggest areas. Maybe they'd get lucky. They didn't want to lose right away though now that they were getting into this. "If I make a wrong guess can I still keep asking questions?" Then, since they were allowed, "Is it the lake?" They weren't too surprised it wasn't.
