Nicolas walked into the girls section of the building, feeling a bit weird for being there, since after all, guys weren't allowed. But, he said he would pick her up, and he planned on doing so. He had a slight limp from that encyclopedia landing on his foot, but, he obviously didn't feel the pain from it. He tried to make it not too noticeable, though, even if Mery couldn't see him. He wanted to act like she could, since she had told him not to treat her like a child. And he most certainly wasn't going to, she was the same age as him and no one that old should be treated in such a way. Sure, she would need help doing some things, but he was sure she could handle herself if she had Pooka.

He was just wearing jeans, a polo shirt, and a long sleeved shirt underneath it. This thing wasn't too formal after all, so he hadn't found the need to wear a tux. He quickly found her dorm room, and knocked on the door, waiting for her.

Mery had been standing in front of her closet. Pooka barked when someone knocked at the door. Mery reached into her closet and felt for the tag in the back of a sweater. The letter 'P' was stitched on to the tag. She took it off the hanger and pulled it over her head. Then she slid on black flats and called "Coming!" She grabbed Pooka's leash and fastened it to her collar. She tugged her pink sweater down over her black skirt and walked to the door. She opened it and smiled. "Hello."

Nicolas smiled when he heard Pooka bark, and when he heard Mery say she was coming. He waited patiently outside her door, not wanting to rush her or anything. He smiled again when she opened the door. "Hey," he said. "You look nice." He was only saying it as a friend, of course, since they hadn't known each other long enough to like her more than one. After a few moments, he spoke again. "You ready?"

Mery smiled. "I'm sure you do to...er...well, never mind," She wondered why she got so flustered around Nikki. She bent to pick up Pooka, and her hair fell on her cheek, hiding the pinkness. "Yep, I'm ready."

Nicolas's smile softened a bit toward her when she said she was sure he did as well, but said nothing of it when she said nevermind. He didn't want to bring up her being blind, not at all. If she brought it up, then fine, but he most certainly wasn't going to.

As soon as they arrived at the ballroom, he quickly took a few steps ahead and opened the door for her, holding it open. "After you," he said.

Mery smiled and put her dog down. Pooka led her into the ballroom. She waited just in the door for Nick, because she had never been in the ballroom before, and she felt kind of lost.

Nicolas watched as she put her dog down, and walked inside, hoping the sound of his footsteps would help her along. He didn't want to take her arm, since he felt that might be babying her. Plus, it might be... well, awkward, since they hadn't known each other that well.

But he couldn't help but ask. "If you need any help getting around in this place, 'cause it's kinda big... let me know..." his voice was a bit quiet, hoping she wouldn't get angry. "I'm not babying you or anything, I swear, it just kinda looked like you felt kinda... well, um, lost so I... yeah..." he went silent, looking down, hoping more than anything she wouldn't get angry at him.

When he first spoke, Mery felt rebelious, but she realized he was just trying to help her. She smiled softly. "It's okay, thanks." She thought for a moment. "There's a balcony, right? Can we go out there?"

Oh, he was so glad she hadn't gotten angry. He wouldn't have forgiven himself if she had. He smiled and nodded his head when she asked if there was a balcony. "Yep, there is," he told her. He started walking toward it, knowing Pooka would follow him. His footsteps were just a tiny bit uneven because of his limp, but he was still trying to hide it as best as he could.

Pooka did follow him. Having very keen hearing, Mery noticed his footsteps were uneven. "Nick...? Are you limping?" She asked very sofly. She hadn't noticed it before, so she assumed it was because of the incident yesterday.
