"Keep them out properly, we'll be starting in a little bit and if you're inside the circle when it starts, your soul's getting ripped out," Adelaida said, notably, staying inside the circle herself.

She went around the circle, placing long gems at certain points in the circle, connecting it to the layer below. The layer that she hadn't mentioned, that was part of a different spell entirely.

"Okay, so what we're doing is because these essences are too powerful on each their own, you're going to have to weaken them first. The first part of the spell, you're going to drain out their power. We're going to weaken them so that when they merge, the house and everyone inside doesn't go bye-bye. If we tried merging them as is, the risk of them being unstable is too high."

She tapped on the crystals that she was placing around the circle as she went. "Under the floor is a separate spell, because all that power has to go somewhere. I'm basically collecting the power that we're trimming out so it doesn't go out into the wild and cause problems."

And I'm going to use that for my little project, she thought to herself.

"So when we do this, you're going to have a little battle of wills with both of them at once. You can not lose this one. You have to keep them in place until they're weakened enough to not resist. Don't worry, once the merger's done, the power's going to slowly recover over the next few weeks."

"You have a bit of a break after the first layer's done. There, the merging process begins, and we wait for it to complete. It's going to take a while, and doesn't really need attention while it's happening."

Adelaida finished putting down the crystals connecting the top layer to the lower layer of the raised floor, on which was transcribed the spell to merge the two entities together.

What she didn't reveal was her bottom-most layer, on which another spell lay - the spell to create an artificial spirit. One that she would absorb to regain her spellcasting. This was where the excess divine power would go - this was her payment for a job well done.

"Third layer's just reabsorbing, and you've experienced a bit of it, but it's going to hurt a lot more because this time you're absorbing them without seals, and because it's still going to resist you as much as anyone would resist being eaten."

All the explanations were done with, and there was nothing left for it but to go for it.

The connections were in place. Everything just had to go as planned, even though there were failsafes everywhere in the room.

"Ready to begin?"

"Alright, begin when you're ready," Adelaida said, flames from her finger lighting a few incense sticks in a burner. These were the same as last time, a magical substance intended to ease the flow of magic. While she preferred not using these, it was best to make the process as smooth and easy as possible for the young woman.

She stayed sat within the circle, waiting for the process to begin. Halfway, she too would need to focus, when the hidden soul-forming spell began to function.
