The courtyard was peaceful that warm, sunny afternoon. A few puffy white clouds drifted lazily through the sky, making themselves into various shapes before spreading apart and moving along their way. Surprisingly enough, very few students could be found loitering around; no doubt everyone was in their dorms studying, or perhaps decided to spend this beautiful day exploring the town. Either way, the courtyard appeared at that moment to be virtually deserted.
Well. Almost deserted.
Emory hung upside-down from the upper branches of a tall tree, his body swaying ever so slightly in the pleasant breeze. He looked down at the ground below him- he had no trepidation towards heights- and immediately afterwards rolled his eyes, crossing his arms against his chest and letting out a great huff. Still nobody. He had been waiting there for what felt like the better half of the day- which, in reality, was approximately fifteen minutes. He had been keeping himself for someone, anyone who could be a source of amusement-…er, company. Yeah, that’s it. Looking for a friend. Certainly not scoping out his next victim or anything. The notion would be positively absurd.
Letting out another impatient sigh, Emory turned his head over to his butler Sebastien, who was perched a few branches to the right and above him. From the ground, neither of them could really be seen- however, through the branches, the two of them had an excellent view. Emory’s eyes dug into the demons face, his pout growing into a frown. When he still remained unnoticed, he let out an exaggerated groan.
“Sebaaaaastieeeeeeen.†The changeling rocked himself back and forward on the branch. “I’m so booooored. Where is everyone? You said we could find people here!!†Indeed, it had been his “trusty†servant’s suggestions to scope out potential victims- er, companions, in the courtyard.
