You step into the Ballroom.

It's a sight out of a fairy tale book. The room is decorated with an elegant harvest theme. A palette of autumn colors, violets, and blacks are used in curtains, carpets, table clothes, and other decorations. There are pumpkin gourds with witch hats on the tables, vines around the marble columns, and artificial cobwebs dangling plastic spiders. The flowers used, in vases and wall decor, are dried and wilted. The overall look is nothing less than haunting.

And the people! Why, it's almost as if they're part of the decorations. Ladies in extravagant, puffy ball gowns dancing with gentlemen in sharp suits to waltzes, all of them wearing colorful masks, concealing their identity. The crowd is nothing but inviting.

Will you join them?

Gold Greek Comedy Mask, Black Tuxedo

Even anonymous, he was always a man that came in with a flourish.

The man was handsomely dressed in a black tuxedo and a gold Greek Comedy mask, fitted in a new body with a new voice so there were no tells to his actual identity. Anybody who knew who he was could tell his identity through his rigid, authoritative posture and the way his lips curved playfully underneath the mask. Whoever he was and whatever he looked like, anybody could tell that he held himself with confidence and power.

Halloween was when his kind was at their most powerful, and what better way to spend it than to look for somebody to play with? He had a charming disposition, and greeted everybody he came across. Even as he socialized, he declined offers to dance unless he deemed them interesting enough.

He didn't enter so much as bounce into the vicinity, really. Halloween was a wonderful, wonderful time of the year! It was, he dare say it, his favorite Holiday, though many Holidays weren't so far off. Valentine's Day and Christmas were pretty neat in their own rights.

He'd never been in a Masquerade before! He'd been to many high society parties, but somehow, Masquerades have always eluded him. He had high hopes for tonight. Perhaps he was thinking a little too romantically, but he wanted nothing less than to dance with a lovely princess or a handsome prince, perhaps fall in love and kiss at Midnight. He watched people go inside, curious, superficially checking out their costumes and how well it fit them. he wouldn't dare dance with anyone that didn't meet his standards, no sir. When he takes off their mask, he better be met by a pretty face.

This had been the event that he wanted to attend since he heard about it. The others were nice, but this was the one. He strode in with his shoulders back, all the confidence and regality of a king. His tuxedo shimmered, appearing as a different color depending on which angle you looked at it from. A plain golden domino mask was all that obscured his face, framed by the waves of similarly golden hair that fell around his shoulders. But he didn't seem to care at all that most of his clean shaven face was exposed. No one would recognize his sharp jawline, his Roman nose, or his full lipped, smirking mouth. He pawed at the bangle on his wrist absentmindedly, a blackened steel thing made to look like a chain dangling with a ball at each end.

He, like others, was looking to take someone home tonight. How could he not want to? The allure of a stranger, the mystery. It made him shiver internally. He scanned the room, socializing whenever he passed someone. He kept his eyes peeled for anyone who might pique his interest. He wasn't aiming for a man or a woman in particular, and had decided at the beginning of his preparations for the night to just let the chis fall where they may.

It was chilly tonight. not so cold as to invoke a shiver, but just cold enough to cause the Lamia to hug her cloak tightly over he shoulders. She had crossed the campus from her dorms to the grand Ball with relative ease, and in almost silence. her nerves were getting the better of her even now as she drew in close to the ball. Up ahead Narraine could hear the excited chatter of the guests and before long she had caught sight of the entrance. A smile crossed her lips as she slipped in silently and checked her cloak at the door with a kind man who offered her a ticket in exchange for the article.

She had always loved these kind of events back home. The grand balls. They were the chance to meet the high life of society, to mingle with all the people of the cities, but more importantly they were a chance to have fun. there was no mystery as to her identity, nor did she really want to be anyone else for the evening. Still for the event she had decided to wear a mask to match her dress. it was nothing fancy, just slightly tinted purple, and only covering a small portion of her face.

now though it was time to meet people. To socialize and to dance.

Mask: Mask of Korgano (Image Below in Spoiler)

Outfit: Starry Blue (Image Below in Spoiler)

When Nyota first learned of this grand ball, she originally had no plans to attend the gathering since she was never that much of a socialite. As the date for the ball neared, she thought screw it and attend anyway. Nyota had nothing to do aside from lay in bed and tonight she wanted to feel fancy for a change! Her wardrobe disagreed, it mostly consisted of relaxawear that screamed "middle-class". In the far back corner she happened to find the one somewhat decent dress that won't make her look like a complete embarrassment. It was somewhat dainty true blue dress with imprints of stars scattered on along the fabic of the dress. It also came with a light blue slash that she can tie around her waist in order to hide the stitching around the waist of the dress. The dress was probably more fit for semi-formal but it was far more appropriate sweats.

The act of putting on a mask in her cause was probably a pointless endeavor. Her glowing eyes and missing arm makes her readily noticed by anyone who happen to see her around campus. Not that it mattered much, she was but a nobody at this school and it was doubtful anyone was going to know who she was anyway. Still, she figured she might as well get into the spirit of things and donned on a replica mask of Korgano, which in Star Trek: The Next Generations lore was a moon god. It (and the companion mask of the sun goddess Masaka) was among one of many things her dorky mothers sent her in various care packages they send her every now and then. In all honesty she was surprised that her moms sent both Korgano mask and Masaka masks that they each made the masks as an anniversary gift for each other. At least until she found the little note about if she finds her true love, she should give them one of the masks as a gift. Bleh... that is way too sappy for her to go through with but at least she had a proper mask to wear at the masquerade as it was unlikely anyone would recognize either of the masks.

As she entered thought the main door with... she now found herself to be an awkward duckling among a gaggle of luxurious swans. Okey so there are some funky looking swans who happened to have extra appendages, blue skin, and/or snake-like bodies but almost everyone present looked far more well groomed than her. It was then that her first ball experience felt... surreal. It was a bit too much for her so Nyota took comfort to the snack bar, stuffing her face with festive themed sweets while trying to act discrete about it. No shame in being the chick who comes to parties to mooch off the free food. Maybe when the over-saturation of sugar in her bloodstream kicks in she will go out and converse with the fancy folk but for now... COOKIES!

Finn figured going to the Masquerade Ball would be good a way to get more acquainted to Manta Carlos. To say Finn wasn't too keen about living here would be an understatement. He unfortunately didn't have another choice. He'd give anything to talk to his younger brother Owen again. The only thing Finn knows for sure is that the world thinks Finnegan Sean Murphy is dead and they would be right in a way. Finnegan O'Reilly has taken his place. If anyone found out who he really is... People would be at risk.

Finn glanced around the ballroom. He sighed. It's been a long time since he's last been to a ball of any sort. Being the son of a diplomat had certain perks. Pushing away the memories of his father Finn looked for the food. A man's still gotta eat! Finn wasn't expecting to really meet anyone special but who knows?

There was a gem worth talking to. A handsome disposition with golden hair like Apollo, coupled with an outfit like a bright gemstone, the man was quite a sight to behold. Now, he was a man that loved and treasured novelties, and this one was a prize to be won. He wanted nothing more than to socialize with him that moment.

He approached him with a confident smile, bowing low and offering a hand. "Sir, it would be my great honor if you would indulge me with a dance."

Ever-aware of his surroundings, the domino mask wearing man saw the approach of the man in the comedy mask. Turning on his heel to face the approaching other, he offered a smile and a nod in greeting. His ruby red eyes flitted across the other man's form. Tall, authoritative, powerful. And that mask gave it all a hint of playfulness, almost impishness.

Giving a bow of his own with a flourish of his arm, the domino masked man let his smile widen into a playful smirk. Taking the offered hand he stepped closer to his now dance partner. His breath smelled of cinnamon and he let out a slow breath to advertise this fact.

"Good evening. I would love to dance. You're the type who prefers to lead, I think?"

Narraine took her time and slipped to the far side of the room. She made sure to be extra careful so as to avoid tripping up any of the other party goer's who may not have seen her tail. Luckily she had had some practice in avoiding feet since she arrived, but with couples dancing, and no longer paying attention to where they were she needed to be extra careful. Back home a grand party like this was a place for dancing as well, though in most cases it were only lamia present. they could twirl around each other, and twist gracefully all night long. Here though it was a little different. She wondered if some handsome prince or beautiful princess might ask her for a dance.

The idea of dancing the night away in a Cinderella style fantasy was very appealing to the lamia as she slipped silently through the crowds of people. Being so large in the crowds of normal people left her feeling awkward, however that was not going to stop her from at least enjoying the night.
