He nodded along as Heather spoke, occasionally he took a sip of his punch. He then considered Heather’s question, and even held his chin with his free hand for a few moments. “Would you believe me if I just said I wanted to have a night out?” He laughed as he rubbed the back of his neck.

He drank some more punch, figured he should probably clarify. “I just don’t get too many moments I get to relax, and I’ve been to masquerades before. So this is just a fun night out, really.” He shrugged a little. “But... it’s not a problem that you wanted to just come because you had never been to one before.” He offered a gentle smile.

Fireworks and glass, what a fascinating description, and somehow it gave Huilu an image of a very clear sensation. She smiled and nudge Dark just a bit.
"It does seem I am not the only poet amongst us tonight. Your powers sound beautiful and I would love to see them, if a chance arises."
Huilu began to imagine the powers Dark could possess, but she had much too many ideas to concentrate on one, so she decided to leave it until Dark actually would show them to her.

"I cannot begin to imagine to have been born in a latge city."
Huilu said, and similarly looked upon the crowd.
"In my home you could get peace just by stepping one step outside the village limits. I have visited large cities, they were wonderful, so full of life and colour and they inspired me greatly, but they felt overwhelming after a while. I suppose I am what you could call a country bumpkin."
Huilu chuckled, turning back to face Dark.
"And speaking of overwhelming, if you'll allow me to change the subject, I think I need some fresh air. You are free to remain in the ball, I must not be the only mysterious beauty around."
Huilu smiled, her voice was void of any hinting or ill intent.

The hatted women was surprised for a moment by the veiled man's appearance. She had never seen a man tunic like that before, let alone one so elaborate. The hatted woman was mesmerized by the patterns in the tunic, but she quickly regained her composure and remembered her manners. She did a full curtsy towards the veiled man. "Why thank you, kind sir. That means a lot coming from a man such impeccably dressed," she said in a thin southern accent. Even around the mask she was visibly blushing. "I received it from a kind gentleman named Corinth. He lent it to me for the night free of charge. He is a fantastic tailor, and I will definitely see him for all my tailoring needs. What about you, sir? Where did you get such a lovely tunic?" The hatted woman was relieved that she was able to speak properly in her first ballroom conversation.

The grin disappeared from his face as soon as she accused him of calling her old. "No, no that wasn't-" but then she had started laughing and he was relieved. He took a deep breath and returned to smiling.

"No, I have no problem with that at all. I'll dance with anybody who wants to," he said, clearly happy to not have been sent away. Orange Grin strode with Violet into the middle area of the room where the dancers were gathered. He was not worried at all about attracting attention.

"I hope you don't mind that i'm not super great at this, but it should be fun," he whispered as he placed his right hand just below her left shoulderblade, his left hand already holding hers as she lifted it. He might have been following her onto the dancefloor but he decided to try leading the dance at first. A little rusty and unpracticed, and the steps he used were just slightly different than usual, but he seemed to know the basics more or less.

((they can break off to a thread or just return to mingling after they dance))

"Don't know if I'd call myself a poet," he'd say with a small chuckle, "my words sounding pleasant is nice though."

The man in black would chuckle, he was enjoying the company, the conversation, he was happy to have met her. "I'd think I'll join if you'll allow me," he'd say with a smile, "a bit of air is always nice, and I am enjoying our conversation."

"Corinth, you say?" the veiled man mused. "I've heard a little of him on the street but I've never seen his work in person. I suppose I might have to pay him a visit soon." It was always good to meet others of the same craft. That is, when they did not argue so much.

He bowed to the hatted woman. "I'm flattered, really. I make all of my clothing myself, actually. It's a hobby I picked up back from my days at the Academy. I've always been inspired by Asian styles - it's a little in the blood, after all. Alas, I am far from a master."

"Of course I would believe you, why wouldn't I? It's a good reason."
Heather smiled and her voice was sincere. She understood that motivation very well, it was part of her reason as well. To get a night out and just...let go for a while. It was much easier with the mask and dress on, Heather didn't feel like herself at all.

Heather sipped the punch as she listened to Kind clarify, and nodded along. Yes, she understood.
"I hope you can relax here. This place is so glamorous and pretty, I have never seen anything like it. You are quite lucky that you've been able to attend masquerades before."
Heather smiled and finished her punch again. She glanced at the bowl, but decided to not take any more. Otherwise she'd have to run to the bathroom and she didn't want to miss any of this.

"What were the masquerades you were at before like? Were they similar to this one?"

"Oh my, that is very impressive. I'm not much familiar with Asian style clothing, but it looks lovely." said the hatted woman as she admired the intricate design. "I would have sworn it was a professional piece. If that is your hobby, I can't imagine how proficient you must be at your regular work? I wish I was as talented as you at creating beautiful works."

He chuckled softly. "I am but a humble bookseller," the veiled man said. "I admit that I can be a little overly protective of my wares, however. It does me no good when it comes to end of the week sales but I find that books are like balm on the heart. Always better to have more than less."

"Are you a student, miss?" he asked her, tone polite. "Or are you working? This masquerade makes it a bit difficult to tell, doesn't it?"

A man and woman in matching outfits entered into the ballroom together and separated out to about 5 feet from each other. The man was dressed in a sharp all-black tuxedo with a black tie and a wolf mask, white except for a small black pawprint on the left cheek. His black hair was neatly styled and ran down to about his ears. The woman was dressed in a long black backless dress. She also had a white wolf mask but the pawprint was on the right side of her mask. Her straight black hair fell down to her shoulders.

Both looked around the ballroom and took in the sight of everyone and their fancy clothing. Neither were hungry or thirsty yet so they made their way towards the other side of the room, seeming to communicate with naught but a glance.

The man seemed to be keeping an eye on everyone, as if he was nervous. The woman seemed to be keeping her distance from the man roughly the same at all times but she also seemed to be glancing between the people not yet dancing as if looking for a partner.

((@Left Paw or @Right Paw respectively for the man or woman))
