It seemed like the interest necessary had been gathered for things to begin. Excellent. Or, at the very least, the younger girl wasn't going to just leave. Rei took that as a sign of curiosity, at the very least. Therefore, the best course of action would be to address the other woman's queries.

"Well, knowing oneself is quite important, so I can answer most of your questions, I believe. Let's see, as to the type of limitation present..." Rei struggled to think of an appropriate analogy. Being raised by computer scientists did not make for the most accessible explanations at times. "Um, as for the type of magic, it really depends on the linguistics." I really wish I was better at explaining things... "Well, basically, as long as the potential of the spell isn't too great, I can make it happen. The execution is up to the user."

There were a few other things that could be explained, but saying too much immediately would be poor form for a study. Therefore, just the basics would suffice for now. "Actually, since you mention it," mused Rei, thinking back to the late arrival's words, "perhaps if you guys saw for yourselves, we could just skip a few steps." She carefully opened her suitcase and pulled out a stack of small books. With the speed of a lifelong bookworm, she flickered through each tome, refreshing herself on which spells she had brought. After careful review, the spellcrafter retrieved four of her works from the case.

"Telling you guys too much about the point ahead of time is against the rules, y'know." Then, Rei suddenly slapped her head with her palm. "So is forgetting the safety waivers..." She swiftly replaced two of the books she had retrieved with two other identical ones from the suitcase. "These should all be safe enough, I think. Anyways, to use a book, just read the title out loud. I've written the titles with a slightly thicker pen stroke for you guys. The descriptions are under the title. Strictly speaking, you don't have to read them, but, well, you probably should."

"Oh, and you two can have your pick of these four. Since there's only two of ya, it's not like I can REALLY use the results anyways, so you might as well pick one that you think is fun. Do your best to imagine a good result, eh?" With a small wink, Rei held her suitcase out like a serving tray with the four books lined up on top. "All the stuff is written on the second page."

Jello Blast

This spell generates a forward moving sphere of jello which dissipates after 5 seconds.

Unlimited Jello Works

This spell spawns six or more swords constructed entirely out of hardened gelatin in a ring around the user. All swords spawned by this spell disappear after 30 seconds.

Birthday Party

This spell instantly applies hypoallergenic clown makeup to its target. The target can be the user.

Aircalibur

This spell sends forth two or more blades of wind which dissipate before encountering a sentient being.

In all honesty, the explanation that Aurora was being given was not unlike a mage rote; a spell that was written down, or made formulaic to the point that it could just be casted as quickly as it could be thought of. The difference in this case was how the spell was going to be tailored. Rotes could only be used reliably by a mage that had close to the same paradigm...a way of thinking that dictated their magic.

This on the other hand may have had more broad implications, albeit, not yet dangerous. If the student had anything truly malicious planned, they were either extremely good at faking it, or were legitimately unprepared to the point that any injuries that occurred would in fact be accidents.

"These are safe? Are there ones that aren't so much?"

Finally a direct question. The obvious answer was yes, but frankly, every student was going to experiment with an unsafe ability at some point in their lives. Sometimes it was every day. If she said no, Rei was either lying, or the greatest goodie two-shoes on the planet.

"Wait, are you saying we can keep these?"

Okay, that was actually kind of awesome. Aurora stepped over and started flipping through the books that Rei brought out, each giving her a little bit of a chuckle. Well, alright, no world-ending plots here apparently...and if there was, at least the first impressions were well worth it.

"Hah! These are pretty excellent. I'll have to take the birthday one to the dragon. I'm sure it'll make a wonderful prank. In the meantime...Jello Blast!"

Aurora was good at imagining results. Willpower was the focus of every mage, no matter the tradition. The book being the focus. With any luck, casting an out of paradigm spell would work out to be well, not so dangerous.

She, Her, Hers
Staring at the girl as she explained what the two do them would be doing next, she stayed still. As she explained it, a small smile crossed her face as the ideas that she was giving out to them made her excited. This was so new and fun to her, as she would have never thought that someone could give someone else a spell, or a power, even if it was only for a few seconds, or a one time thing. Looking at the options that were given to her and the other girl, she laughed a few times at some of the spells.

They seemed strange, as she didn't know that these types of spells existed at all. Blinking a few times, she wasn't sure at to what she wanted to pick. Were they safe? Could she say more then one? She didn't have any idea, and she didn't really want to ask the girl a ton of questions. Hearing what the older girl had chosen, she decided to pick something different. Since most of these were in a way, low level spells, she decided that she too wanted to pick a sillier one, because she didn't know if she'd get the chance again. "Birthday Party!" She shouted with a smile after waiting a few seconds after the other girl.

"Oooh, very nice, very nice." Rei hadn't actually gotten around to testing any of these spells for herself. After all, using one up arbitrarily would be a waste of a day's worth of spellcraft, seeing as she could only produce one a day. Come to think of it, outside of experimental purposes, using up a daily spell on Jello production would normally be quite unforgivable, even just in Dungeons and Dragons. However...

The researcher-for-today quickly withdrew a small pocket watch from within her hoodie pocket. It was specially modified so that the hour hand would indicate the level of expression at which someone had output her magic. "I~nteresting..." Opening up a small notebook, Rei jotted down some notes as the spell casts came through. "The tools at this school sure are a lot better than the ones back home for this sort of thing."

After finishing her measurements, Rei looked back up to the powdery, Jello-y mess. The Jello appeared to be vanishing at a slow rate, rather than instantly disappearing like she thought she had stipulated in the book. As for "Birthday Party"... A researcher must remain reserved and neutral. No funny faces... It was time to move on to the second phase of the examinations.

"Splendid work. Now then, I have some questions to ask you two," she said, producing a small packet of wet wipes from her pants pocket. "But, I suppose I can answer yours first," added Rei, while looking at the older one. "The supposed danger of a spell essentially depends on the caster. After all, it would've been theoretically possible to materialize the Jello sphere around a person's head, suffocating them. As for the spell contents themselves, you might be able to tell that Aircalibur is very obviously a neutered version of a standard wind blades-type spell. But carrying a straight-up harm spell around campus is just askin' for trouble."

"As for the other thing, you'll find the writing has disappeared from your books now that you've used them." Rei shrugged gently. "If I could make 'em multi-use tomes, that'd be grand. It's just the natural limitation of my power." It had been a while since she'd had to explain so much. Most people were content with just trying it out. "Anyways, back to the study...if you could tell me, in your own words, what exactly your, hm, 'talents' are, that would be most helpful." She awkwardly scratched the back of her head again. "If you don't really want to, that's understandable, but the general idea would be nice. Data is everything, after all." Although Rei had no classical training when it came to these powers, since she'd been born on the normal side of things, she was careful to thoroughly examine for herself how they interacted rather than ask an old-timer for anecdotal evidence.

Aurora wasn't always one to laugh. Although she was the occasional joker, trying to coax anything but a smile out of her was difficult. But apparently, magic still existed that appealed to the more whimsical of people. Magical jello, birthday...clown makeup. Very few mages were ever fun people; but there was the occasional comic that kept a little light in their normally dark corner of the world.

"You would be surprised what sort of spells people carry around. A lot of students carry around some lethal stuff."

The worst part was that Aurora nor the rest of the staff was privy to these students. Many of them could easy kill a student or score without anyone stopping them. That premise alone was why she wasn't going to be giving Rei her data.

"I apologize if I can't give you anything; I have a preference for keeping my ability away from people, if that's okay. If there is anything else I can do for you, please name it however."

It was unlikely she would be able to oblige, but if she could, all the better.

Listening to the other two people replying and asking questions, she felt quite left out. She really had no idea how to answer any of their questions, or if she was even supposed to be a part of the conversation that they were having. The girl that had given them the spells though, had asked her a simple question, and after they had both finished talking, she then stepped forward a bit and cleared her throat. "I can summon spirits." She wasn't sure if she was supposed to add anything onto that or not.
