After putting some student papers and files away in the filing cabinets and tidying up her office a little bit, Celeste finally sat down at her desk with a cup of tea and went over a pile of homework handed in by her advanced culinary class.

It was quite interesting to see the recipes devised by her students. She was amazed at the variations of dishes that could be made with the following ingredients: spinach, beefsteak, ginger root, apples, and rice.

" A therapist? You're going to see a therapist?" said a hardy and fiendish voice from within Isabella's head. "No she is a teacher and I'm just going to discuss some business." Isabella's voice had a sharp edge to it as this wasn't the first time Ikan had judged her for considering speaking to a teacher. "Only the weak go to therapy." replied the voice matter of factly. Staying quiet she kept her pace to Professor Forestier's office she was done giving him the time of day and instead. The afternoon classes of the day were ending and small pockets of students were dodged and avoided as the office door came into view.

It was true Isabella wanted to discuss simple school business but she had also heard from a classmate that Professor Forestier was a proficient mage. With a new school and tons of new people, it was important for her to build a relationship with the mages among the staff. They could be her ticket to more knowledge and opportunities during college. Though in this particulars mages case well-baked deserts and exquisite taste were her main profession it seems.

After a few symphonic knocks, Isabella poked her head in " Excuse me Professor Forestier, are you free at the moment?"

Quickly writing a short comment on an assignment she was marking, Celeste looked up from her work when she heard a knock on the door and a young woman's voice addressing her.

"Yes, of course, I have a moment," she smiled in greeting when she saw who it was. She didn't quite know the girl yet, but she had been given a list of DCA students and their files with pictures, and somehow her face seemed familiar.

"Have a seat," she said gesturing that she should come in and sit. There were two chairs in front of Celeste's desk just for that purpose.

Isabella nodded as the rest of her body entered the room, boots thumping against the ground. Looking around the room it seemed the professor was busy with the myriad of paperwork that came with teaching. Placing her bag in the seat next to her Isabella sat properly in the parallel seat.

"Thank you, I was hoping to get your thoughts and suggestions on possible extracurricular activities on campus. Being new to college I was wondering what you would recommend for a mage in training." Being new was her way of avoiding having to say she was a former DCA student. That reveal always came with more questions as to her well being and how she was holding up.

A second voice mentally cut in
" This office is nice but a therapist without a couch is lacking no?"

Isabella's face visually tensed up. Wanting truly to shout out for Ikan to be quiet she held back her emotion which left her body telling a tale that something else was on her mind.

Celeste put what she had been working on to one side as Isabella sat down in one of the chairs so she could give her her full and undivided attention.

"Ah... you are a magic user," Celeste said as she broke out in an understanding smile. "There are many disciplines and types of magic," she explained. "But the fundamentals are often the same."

"I'd actually suggest if you are not already versed in them, learning how to read runes, basic Latin pr Greek, or any language associated with magic," she suggested.

Isabella nodded as she had a basic grasp of Latin thanks to DCA and her fellow mages egging her to learn it. Greek, however, had always been an issue for her. She joked whoever the god of fire was must've hated her and removed words from her brain while studying.

"What sort of magic do you practice Professor? My friend recommended I come to see you but she didn't give me much details past you practice magic and made really good food."

Isabella cleared her throat and said in a more quiet tone "It does smell really nice in here actually." she giggled at how weird that must've sounded considering the initial focus but her nose made it hard o lie.

Celeste smiled again when Isabella asked about her own magic commenting on Celeste's passion for food. She knew it was a bit strange for a witch to be teaching Home Ec, but there was a reason behind it, though to many it was not really apparent.

"Well, I am a healer," she said. "And I can do small magic. I also enjoy making potions as well as making people happy," Celeste explained, pleased that Isabella was enjoying the scents in the room.

"That's the orange blossom and vanilla in my tea," she said. "Although, I just made spice cookies with my year 10 students," she said as she grabbed an old-fashioned cookie tin from behind her and offered Isabella one.

Isabella's eyes twinkled when the Professor offered her a cookie. Beyond the new technology that the 12 years had introduced the new food made widely available the second most exciting thing for her. Bowing her head in appreciation she gave a bubbly "thank you" as she took the cookie and held it in her hands. While her stomach and heart wanted to bite down on it right away her mind was still focused on academics.

"Being a potioneer has always been an interesting topic for me. My knowledge of it doesn't go that far but I had hoped to take a few classes while I am here. Do you offer classes as well or are you strictly a home economics teacher. I'd love to get some tips on how to make certain potions.....and maybe these cookies."

The scent was getting to her and after a single bite of it, her smile grew wider than it had in a while. Her senses thanking her for giving it something sweet after a long day of water. "These are so good." she said aloud intending for it to be a thought instead.

"Don't rub it in...." Ikan said enviously.

It was Isabella's sincere and appreciative reaction to her baking that told Celeste she was somebody who might understand why she loved to bake.

"I tutor in potions," she told Isabella. "Though to get the most out of it, I'd actually suggest taking my cooking class too," she told her.

"Cooking and potion making are very similar. Both require similar skills, and cooking allows you to understand ingredients and their properties better and how to combine them properly," she explained as she sipped at her tea, her light gaze watching Isabella curiously, wondering what the young woman might think about what she just said.

Who said teachers couldn't be salespeople? Isabella nodded as she found herself agreeing with the Professor's words though the true gravity of it probably meant more to her than Isabella. Understanding one's ingredients, knowing the finer details of what you were using, and what were the effects of specific mixtures made logical sense when applied to a magical setting.

" I wouldn't be opposed to cooking class. My mother always found time to be in the kitchen and would make me assist her. I was her 'Little Goblin' as she'd call me. She'll probably love me learning to cook more."

The thought of her mother made her sad as she remembered the reaction she had when they finally saw each other again. Her mother was always a stern woman so seeing her break was uncomforting.
