Lying In Wait

Sasha had taken to leaning against walls. It was particularly entertaining now that he had a cell phone – an old flip thing, but more than functional – and a set of clothes that wasn’t completely tattered. It was just a good shirt and jeans – but it was new, and that was what mattered.

The particular wall he was leaning on was by the entrance of the Starlight Academy. He got a few odd looks – of course he would, loitering like this – but he gave the same answer to everyone who asked about it – “I’m waiting for someone.”

They left him alone for now, and Leeroy was almost at the door, so it shouldn’t be much a problem.

Leeroy had never told him his name, but it didn’t matter. Sasha had overheard it in one of his conversations. He’d been watching the man for a while now – maybe a few days.

It wasn’t his fault he didn’t have anything better to do, Sasha reasoned. Besides, maybe Niccolo would like him.

<div align=center>All in all, the day's work he had completed was rather... Mediocre. For once the gym teacher wasn't blown to smithereens, or amputated by one of his students. He had to say though, he certainly missed it. It wasn't like he felt pain anyway. His usually exciting classes had been replaced with a mandatory, school issued video viewing entitled 'Your Powers and You'. And he had watched the whole film. Over and over. At this point it would be months until he could get its script out of his head. But hey, at least he wasn't hot and sweaty and gross. He could go straight home and not worry about shower and clean up. So really, he had time to burn.

With a simple black portfolio in his hand and car keys in another, Leeroy strode out with a neutral mood and calm aura. In his usual jeans, sports coat, button up and trademark hat, he skipped changing out of the attire necessary for exercise. He granted his goodbyes to passing students and faculty as he headed to the door, pushing them out as he left.

Though he almost made it to the grand stairs outside, he felt a buzz in his pants pocket from his Galaxy phone. Puzzled he shifted the arm with his portfolio so he could read it. Just a set reminder telling him to text a student to arrange detention. He rolled his eyes. Informal, but not his idea. He had to be 'in the now' as some teacher put it. So he got out if the way of the stone stairs and leaned against a rail parallel to the school. Coincidentally, he was right across from a man he had met not too long ago who happened to track him down. If only the teacher had looked up, he wouldn't be as surprised when he addressed him. </div>

There he was. “Hello, Leeroy.” Sasha gave him a short salute from his place on the wall. “Are you free?”

<div align=center>As soon as he pressed send on the text, Leeroy shut off his phone and placed it in his pocket, not looking up once. When he did however he was greeted by the face he had seen a few days ago but, not expecting the counter and being completely off guard, got quite the scare.

"Gah!" He yelled, stumbling back and almost falling over the railing. He quickly regained himself with wobbly knees, giving off a sharp breath of relief. "Oh it's just- Hey wait a minute- howdya know ma name?" The last time they met up he strictly remembered not telling the man who he was, for security purposes. Now? It seemed he had gotten it either from reading his mind or spying on him. Fantastic. He suspiciously raised a brow and pulled off a questioning look. "Have ya been spyin' on me or sumthin?" He asked quietly, getting himself together. He left his second question unanswered as he felt he needed to know the answer to his first. This guy was peculiar in more ways than one, and to find out what he needed would be a major risk to take.</div>

“Mm?” Oh, yes. He wasn’t supposed to know that, was he. “No, I never bothered spying on you. There was no need – you’re very noisy. It was literally impossible for me not to catch your name.”

He sighed and pushed up off the wall. “You just got off work, yes? Surely you can spare a minute or two.”

<div align=center>Well, at least he wasn't truly watching him. It was a simple observation, one which he understood. It would have been nice to get a formal introduction but eh it worked. Besides, Leeroy was pretty loud, but that was due to a combination of gym teacher syndrome and having a deep voice. Still... Where else would he hear it? He hadn't been in the school, after all. Or did he? "Ah... Awright. Just makin' sure..." He concluded the accusation with an apologetic nod.

With his repeated question Leeroy realized he couldn't dodge it for much more. He didn't want to say no, because the man had a hunch that he would figure out somehow that he was lying. It looked like he was stuck. "Uhh... Yeah I gotta few." His tone then grew curious. "Whydja ask?" Whether or not he was going to regret questioning him was to be seen. </div>

It was nice for his lies to be accepted so easily. Most people were a bit more suspicious. “Don’t worry about it.” He gave Leeroy a nod. “It’s not a big deal.”

“Lovely.” He pushed up off the wall. “Let’s go on a walk.”

He began to walk off into the courtyard, keeping an eye on Leeroy from behind to make sure he was following. When they were in a relatively quiet area, he asked, without turning around, “How attached are you to your organs?”

<div align=center>Why did he feel as if something was terribly amiss? As much experience as he had with shady figures he still couldn't truly bring himself to outright avoid certain people. Especially of they hadn't proven themselves a threat. Yet.

Leeroy agreed to follow the man, unable to say no at this point. God, how was this going to turn out. He acted casual as he put away his keys and held his binder freely. Looks like he was going anywhere soon. He sided beside the strange man, attempting to make the best out of the odd situation. Yeah, it would just be a nice walk, they would have a quick chat and...

What.

Leeroy looked at him bizarrely, completely thrown off by the question. "Eh." Well, looks like he had to answer him. As a teacher for both powers and P.E. he was legally obligated to be open about his own abilities. That way the students felt safe. No doubt that this refugee of sorts would be able to find out anything he wanted about him. And that scared him more than telling him outright. "Funny question, ya know bout my abilities too?" Man, he was really loud. Or the stranger was just really nosy. Leeroy sighed. "I can freely detonate mahself and pull togethah again. Also, I can remove any of mah body parts n' it can grow back upon mah will. So uh... Not very..." And then, the real question. Lord. "Again, whydja ask? "</div>

Leeroy was a remarkably open man at the moment, and that was something Sasha could appreciate, as it was normally far more difficult for him to pry information out of unwilling mouths. “What makes you say that? I’m just making small talk,” he said easily. He listened to Leeroy’s description and nodded. “That’s… very interesting, actually. I can’t help but wonder where the energy comes from. Simply food, or is that too easy?”

“Actually, I was wondering what you were doing here. You could make far larger profits on the black market, with your abilities.”

<div align=center>Small talk. Riiiiight. Because remarking on the weather and the time of day was akin to asking about the security of one's internal organs. Man was this guy strange. "Uhuh." Leeroy muttered, not buying a bit of it. This guy had a way with manipulation, and only now did Leeroy truly attempt to pick up on it. He asked oddly specific questions that really were on point with what he could do. Tricky, he was. Leeroy gave a defeated sigh and let loose his shoulders. "S'pose I just gotta tell ya outright..." It seemed to be Q and A time.
"I don't eat food, actually. Ma body's just weird." What he ate was still going to be a mystery. Exploding and taking of limbs? That was fine. But his diet? Naw.

A sudden shift in the conversation had Leeroy stop in his tracks.

"Oh no. Uh uh. I don't trust that place with ma body parts. I don't know what people are gonna do with 'em, an' I'd rather not have ma DNA halfway 'crost tha world." He refused the offer plain and simply. As nice as the money would be, he didn't feel safe putting his organs up for sake. Besides, on the occasion he did rip open his body, he usually donated things to the local hospital or science office. Because just throwing them away in a garbage bin was nasty. </div>
