Maddie was sitting on a bench, looking over the variety of stalls. So much stuff. She had brought some spending money with her, and now she played the waiting game.

She had informed Laetus to meet her here after class. She had even gotten him one of those four-piece boxes of chocolate with a smiley face and a post-it note that read: for my friend :)

Bandit was sitting beside her. She had put him on a leash this time because she knew the smell of food would make it more likely he'd run off.

He was pacing, going toward any good smell that crossed him.

When suddenly, from behind her, who could it be? Laetus popped out of one of his portals, holding a plate of funnel cake. Yay funnel cake!
"Hey Cherry-chan." He says as he arrives, taking the seat next to her.
"Things are lively here. I love festivals... Oh, want some?" He asks, offering her some of the cake.

Bandit knew that voice. It was the voice of the man with food! He turned and strutted over to Laetus and sat down. He lay his head in the man's lap, staring up soulfully.

Maddie reached over after he offered her some of his funnel cake. She took a small piece and popped it into her mouth.

"Thanks! I got you something, Kiwi," she said the nickname casually. She wanted to see if he'd go crazy about it like she had gone about Cherry-chan. Seriously!

"Oh, you did?" He asked as he gave bandit a piece of the cake. "That was swe... Wait, Kiwi?" He asked with a confused tilt of his head.

She reached into her small bag and pulled out the box of chocolate, wrapped in bright red paper, and held it out to him.

She smirked, quoting, "'It means what it means, Kiwi.' Now take my token of appreciation!"

Laetus laughed. "Fair enough." He then put the plate on his lap and took the present, looking at the pretty red wrapping.
"Thank you, Cherry-chan." He happily opened it and popped a chocolate into his mouth before putting the box into a portal.
"So, where do you want to head first?" He asked after swallowing the chocolate. "Theres so much to do today!"

It was a mistake for Laetus to put the funnel cake so close to Bandit. He darted forward to snap at the plate, likely causing it to fall to the ground.

Maddie's hand shot out to take Bandit by the collar and yank him back. "Bad dog!"

He struggled momentarily in her hold before his ears fell flat against his head and sulked.

Maddie smiled nervously at Laetus. "I, uh, don't know. I mean, most of the stuff here is for couples, I think."

Laetus smiled and pet Bandits head. "It's ok. I can't say I didn't see that coming." He laughs.
He tilts his head in confusion at her statement. Couples? There are two of them... three if you count Bandit. "How does that stop us?" He asked confused.

At first, Maddie took this very differently than he had intended it. Her eyes grew wide, and a multitude of thoughts barraged her.

Such as:

I'm way too young for you!
This is too soon!
Oh my gosh, I'm not dressed for this!

Then she realized he meant that there was two of them.

"Because...it's...Valentines day..." she said in the hopes that such a statement might explain everything.

When it didn't, Maddie rubbed the back of her head.

"I meant romantic couples. People whoa re dating. That's pretty much what Valentines day is all about. So most of the stuff is for them. I think the only single thing at a Valentines Fair are the kissing booths."

"Hm... Well that's not fair... Lets do stuff anyway." He says sticking his tongue out.
"We can have fun either way, who the hell's gonna stop us?"
