Nariko fixed her crutches, sighing. I'm such an idiot... why did I have to go and fall? she thought to herself, ears pressed down against her head. In a way, she wished she had broken her wings instead, seeing as how she didn't need them to walk. It was strange, really; she had broken a perfectly fine leg, and her weak wings had been unharmed.
Shaking her head, she walked onto the beach, having some difficulty. She still hadn't gotten used to these crutches, to be quite honest. She wished Zaine was there... she missed him. She hadn't seen him in a really long time, and every time she looked at the ring on her finger she couldn't help but wonder when they were going to get married.
As she walked, her cat-like ears turned in the direction of the sound of soft sobs, and she blinked, thinking she had heard a voice before that. She looked around, and as soon as she spotted Zaine, her face lit up. It was all she could do to keep from screaming his name, however, she did start going toward him as fast as she possibly could.
When Nariko reached him, she smiled, resting a hand on his shoulder. "Hi, hon," she said, and her smile became a frown when she remembered he was beginning to cry. "What's wrong?"
