"Why are we doing this?" the Shadow whined, "just...take the runt to the school and leave her." James quickly told him to behave, the Shadow being the ass he was continued to grumble.

"Yes," he smiled at her, "as well as magical things," he chuckled a bit, "they have a few magical paintings." He loved the museum, even the Shadow seemed to enjoy it, "I can take you there to look later on if you want."

"This place..it was made to be safe," he looked at her, "a place where anyone can belong." He scratched the back of his neck, "Before I came here...I didn't seem to belong anywhere," normally he was awful with social interactions, but he was at ease around her.

They entered the city and he started pointing out the various shops, everything from charm stores to potion shops. Every magical store imaginable.

"What exactly are magical paintings? Like the moving portraits in Harry Potter?" Kylnie felt very naive since becoming a ghost. She was right where she should have been for a thirteen year old in public school but since dying the world suddenly seemed so much bigger and so full of things she'd never even guessed at. She nodded enthusiastically, her ghostly hair floating around her as if underwater currents were carrying it. "Yes, I'd like to see it very much."

He assured her that this island was a place where anyone can belong but she had a hard time imagining that a ghost belonged anywhere. Most people she'd encountered before were afraid off her, except for the old man.

As they entered the city, she sank back slightly, moving behind him as though she were hiding, but she couldn't stop her eyes devouring the shops. "W...what do you do that makes you not belong? Are you....is it because you can see me and talk to me?" It still wasn't reality to her that most beings here could probably see her.

"Yes they have some of those," he chuckled, "some are actually multiple paintings, with them changing magically once in a while."

He looked at her, his smile never leaving, "ghosts are common here, everyone here can see you fine." It was true, and pretty apparent as they moved through the city. A few people their age waving. "Look," he gestured to another ghost across the street, walking and talking to a living being.

James couldn't help but notice that the girl was cute, her floating hair seemed to add to that, "the city is full of amazing things." They passed a magic shop, through the window they could see a mage demonstrating a spell.

"Oh there's nothing special about me," he said with a smile. He humble, he had his gifts his abilities, but he never bragged about them. "Exactly, you're a human, I am the power," the Shadow stated.

She blinked as if stunned. Moving pictures shouldn't come as a surprise since before she hadn't believed in ghosts either but every new thing still came as a surprise nonetheless.

"Everyone can see me?" she asked, her hands coming up to rub her arms. It had been a while since pretty much anyone could see her and it suddenly made her feel exposed. He pointed across the street and her eyes followed. She chewed her lip. "It's so odd." Shaking her head, her eyes returned to his. "I guess maybe it's not. Not here."

Kylie stared in the windows they passed with wide eyes. She had never before seen a place like this. When he spoke again, she turned her eyes back to him, watching him contemplatively for a moment. "I get the feeling that you're just being modest." If she could blush, she might have as she turned her face away to hide from him under the pretense of looking into another window. "I get there feeling there is something very special about you."
