Looking for Something To Do

Andrew left the rooftop and started walking down a hall. Already explored there...nothing to do in the computer room...Maybe there would be something to do in the lounge. He turned abruptly and went in. There were only a few kids in there, besides himself. He sat down on a couch and started watching T.V.

A twelve-year-old girl was already sitting in a chair in the lounge. Her face was turned down, and black hair fell to frame it. Her hands held a book, and her violet eyes moved back and forth as she continued to read the pages. She looked up when she saw a male enter, and watched him as he went to the nearby cough and sat down, turning on the television. She didn't really care; the noise might distract her somewhat, but not really. As she looked down at her book, she realized she was on the next chapter, and decided that talking to him might prove to be more interesting. She put her bookmark in and closed it, walking over to the couch and looking at him. He looked to be older than her, probably about Adelina's age.

"Hello," October greeted with a smile.

Andrew looked up. "Hey." He said. The girl looked to be about 12, but he got the feeling that she was more mature than normal 12 year olds. "I'm Andrew." he introduced himself.

October's small smile remained as he introduced himself. "IT's nice to meet you, Andrew," she said. "I'm October, but you can call me Oct or some other shorter name if you want to." She shrugged her shoulders, then looked around the lounge for a moment before looking back to the male — Andrew. "May I sit with you?"

"Sure." He thought for a second. Where had he heard that name before...? Right. Addie's sister. "Hey, you're Addie's sister, right?" he asked.

October nodded when he said sure, and she took a seat on the couch next to him. Not too close, of course, but not too far away either. She blinked for a moment when he mentioned Addie, but nodded. "Adelina Hotaru? If that's who you mean, then yep, that's me!" she said. "How do you know her?"

Andrew shrugged. "We're going to the fall ball together." He said. "Are you going?" She was more friendly than Addie, that was for sure.

October had a look of pure shock on her face, and almost choked on only the air. Addie... was going to the Fall Ball.... WITH someone?! Wow. This was big news! "Are you serious?! How did you convince her?! She NEVER does anything fun like going to balls and festivals and the like!" she said, quite curios as to how he did it. She could never make her sister do something like that. "Oh, and I don't know if I'm going. I might, but I really don't know." She shrugged her shoulders.

Andrew laughed and shrugged. "I begged." he said half serious, half joking. "Oh, and I don't know if I'm going. I might, but I really don't know." "Am I going to have to convince you too?" Andrew teased the girl.

October laughed for a moment as well. "Begged, hm? That usually doesn't work," she said. She knew it did work sometimes, but it was still quite rare. "But I'll try it next time." She laughed again, a smile taking place on her lips. She shook her head when he asked if he was going to have to convince her as well. "No, no, I'll give up now... I'll go." She shook her head.

"But are you sure I wouldn't interfere with yours and Addie's 'date'? 'Cause I would have to stay with her." She smirked a bit, knowing she had teased a bit with that sentence, but oh well.
