"Selkris, would you happen to have a moment?" Vlad said as he approached the front desk of the Manta Carlos Public library wearing a tailored dark grey three-piece suit, his usual doctor's robe back in his office.

"In what section can I find, "Anatomical Changes of the Medieval Wolfman" by Juan Carlos Castel Lobos?" he asked as he glanced at his watch, noting that he still had a good half hour before he had to return to his office for his next appointment.

@Arcadia

(Short. I am going to assume that they more or less know each other from Vlad's many visits to the library.)

It was a rather average day at the library for Selkiris. For most of the day he normally just sat at the front desk of the building, reading away on his tome. Occasionally someone would come up to check out a book or to ask for help however those instances were rare enough that Selkiris didn’t look up from his book all that often.

When Vladimir first approached Selkiris it took a moment for him to actually close his tome. Once he did close the tome, Selkiris was quiet for a moment, thinking about the book Vlad asked about. Anatomical Changes of the Medieval Wolfman...ah yes I know that one. Selkiris thought quietly. “One moment please.” is all Selkiris said before suddenly vanishing, only to occasionally reappear elsewhere in the library. After a few seconds of his absence, Selkiris reappeared in the chair with the requested book in his hands. “Here we are....you know you are an odd one Mr. Vladimir.” Selkiris told the man calmly as he handed the book the him.

Waiting patiently while Selkris went to see if he could locate the book in question, Vladimir studied his fingernails. Fingernails were quite fascinating in a way, he found he could tell a lot about a person's health by looking at them.

Looking up when Selkris finally returned a minute or two later, Vlad chuckled at his observation, "You are not the first one to ever tell me that. My nurse does it all the time," he stated good-naturedly as he took the book and opened it almost immediately.

"Comes with the territory, I think," he stated. "Doctor in Vampirism and Lycanthropy with a side of the Undead always makes for interesting dinner conversations," he grinned, almost wolfishly.

Selkiris huffed a little, lightly shaking his head. “I do not believe you realize what I actually mean by that Mr. Vladimir.” Selkiris grabbed his book, tracing a symbol onto the cover as he did so many times before. Selkiris then opened the book, flipping towards Lycanthropes or Vampires, which either one of them appeared first. “You are a man who is, as far as I can tell, completely human. Yet somehow you still have traces of Lycanthropy and Vampirism in you. That isn’t something just happens, it’s an oddity.” Selkiris started bluntly, not once looking up from his book.

"Ahh," Vladimir said simply as his slate blue-grey gaze calmly met Selkris's. Now clueing into what the man had actually meant. It was not a secret, not really, that Vladimir had been turned into a ghost, vampire, and werewolf - not once, but a few times in his life. However, not many knew of his past or what he had been through.

"That is indeed correct, Mr. Selkris," Vlad said, his tone still friendly despite becoming a tad more serious. "I am human, just not as human as most humans tend to be," he continued.

"You see, fate has allowed me to experience life as a vampire and as a werewolf," he explained as he ran a hand down the page stopping at the words, "ungodly transformation".

"How did you know about my rather unorthodox condition if I might ask?" Vlad asked as he studied Selkris with unfathomable curiosity.

It appeared Lycanthropes were the first of the two subjects to appear in the book, which Selkiris began to read immediately. While Selkiris listened to every word Vladimir had said, not once did he move his head up from the book he was reading. Selkiris was making mental notes to add notes on both the Vampirism and Lycanthropy pages to write about Vlad’s odd condition.

“I see. Well if you are truly interested my...condition...allows me to see one’s species and their abilities. So while your species is human I could see traces of the abilities of Lycanthropes and Vampires in you.”

"I see," Vladimir remarked unfazed as he considered what Selkris had just told him. His curiosity truly piqued now as he thought about all the things such a skill set could be useful for. In fact, the more he thought about it, the more he wondered...

"Can you possibly see what causes me to eventually revert back to being human when transformed into a vampire?" he asked him curiously.

Selkiris chuckled a little at Vladimir’s request. He should have known the man would have wanted something now that he was aware of Selkiris’s abilities, they always were it felt like. “Well right now no I can not. I can only see generalities for species. However this is an interesting case which I am fine with researching into. I certainly have sources I can consult on such things.”

Vladimir was not surprised by the fact Selkris couldn't see why he didn't transform permanently and always reverted back to human. Oddly enough, and despite years of research, he was no closer to finding out why he had become human again after years, no decades, as a ghost that haunted his family home.

"Thank you, Mr. Selkris," Vladimir said, "But I'd hate to bother you. Especially when I, myself, have spent years trying to make some sense of my condition," he explained, not wanting to trouble him with something that appeared to have no solution or explanation.

"I had just hoped, maybe a bit foolishly, that you might have been able to see what others haven't been able to," he confessed.

Selkiris waved his hand dismissively at Vladimir. “Nonsense, my source has nothing better to do, and I promise you that. They would greatly enjoy looking into this topic if you truly desired.” Selkiris thought about this source a little and debated if it was actually a good idea to contact them. However Selkiris already promised to help so if they did wish for it he had no choice but to contact them. “There is also no reason to apologize for having hopes. Hope is something that keeps the world spinning so if anything, keep hoping. That’s the reason I’m still here after all.”
