Sylvi

Sylvi gave a small smile as Bee spoke. "It is still refreshing to hear. To know that even after so many years there as still those capable of speaking in norse. If you do not mind my asking, what other languages can you speak?" The number of people on the island who could speak in old norse, Sylvi could pretty confidently count on one hand. Bee included. So it was certainly interesting to learn what other potentially forgotten languages she might know.

She raised an eyebrow when Bee thanked her. "I am afraid I do not understand. I simply wanted to make sure you were okay after everything that happened. I do not see how that warrants your thanks. Surely anyone else would have done the same."

Bee thought for a moment about what languages she did know. Her mother was persistent about learning as many as she could. 'Inspiration knows all languages.' Well seems there might have been some truth to it. Maybe she should get back to studying more.
"Well let's see. English, obvs. Latin, French, German and Spanish are all fluent. Russian is conversational. Mandarin is where I left off before I picked up Latin for daddy."
She smiled at a memory before continuing.
"Mom loved the old norse stories soooo she told the originals to me. Kinda had to learn to understand them ya know?"

Sylvi

Sylvi nodded as Bee spoke. "That is quite the impressive list. Personally, I am capable of speaking Old Norse, Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, and English. If you ever have an interest in learning any of them, do let me know."

She nodded as Bee spoke of the Old Norse stories. Sylvi knew many of them by heart, having grown up around many of the heroes those stories were written about in Valhalla. Of course, much and more got lost in translation.

"Oh? Any particular favorites?"

"The mead of poetry."

There was no hesitation in her answer. It was as if she knew what was going to be asked, even though she didn't. Bee loved the story for many reasons, and continued to find more reasons the more she read or heard it.
"There's so many lessons to learn from it, all dealing with inspiration. It's what made me realize that inspiration is more than just giving ideas for song."
Bee seemed to brighten up, even as she huddled against the cold air. It was one of a few topics that Bee loved. Thanks mom.

Sylvi

Sylvi nodded as Bee spoke of the Mead of Poetry. It was a poem she knew well herself, as it involved her grandfather, Odin. "Ah. A good choice, especially for a muse such as yourself. I am more partial towards Darraðarljoð myself. For obvious reasons." She said with a small chuckle.

Sylvi gave a small smile as Bee seemed to warm up. To think this was the same person who had ran out of the Grey Raven in tears not long before, it was a night and day difference. "Is there any particular verse you like?"

"Very fitting and appropriate as well."

Bee smiled, but this smile didn't seem her usual spunky one. It seemed more genuine and appreciative. She crossed her arms across her chest to try to help fend herself from the cold and began walking again towards her home, but slower, hoping Sylvi would follow at least a little longer.

"I like the creativity Suttung used in getting revenge on the dwarves. Taking them out to the reef at low tide to potentially slowly drown, is obviously directly inspired by how they drowned his father, Gilling at high tide."

She chuckled and shook her head before continuing, "I used to think that muse's inspiration was only used for music or art. That was when mom first told me that story."

Sylvi

Sylvi slipped her jacket off, and gave a small shiver. Still, she was used to the sting of the cold. She'd be fine without, and it seemed Bee needed it a bit more then she did. "Here." She said, offering the jacket to Bee. "It should help keep you warm. You clearly need it more than I do. Not used to the cold?"

She'd follow behind Bee, hovering just above the ground. She would nod as she spoke of the creativity used by Suttung in getting his revenge on the Dwarves who drowned his father. "It is certainly a fitting punishment." She said. "Though I never did quite understand why he wanted the mead of poetry, and did not simply leave them there."

Bee smiled at the offered jacket but shook her head. "Thanks but I just gotta change up my..." she snaps her fingers "...glow." At the word glow, Bee's outfit changes to one more befitting of her, but also fitting of the weather.
Fitted dark wash jeans and near pure white leather jacket that seemed to fit her perfect while also covering her from the wind's chill.
"And not the continued cold. Usually in it a night or two, then off to somewhere warm again."
Bee listened as Sylvi continued to talk about the tale. She had a point to an extent but then she remembered what her mother told her.
"Well even as overcome with grief as Suttung was, he was still compassionate. He already had what remained of his father, so why tarnish his name further with petty revenge?"

Sylvi

Sylvi simply nodded and put her jacket back on. "I must ask, does that actually work? I had assumed it simply manipulated the appearance of your clothes, but it seems it can be extended to changing the properties as well. Either way, impressive." She said with a small smile. Part of her wished that the she could do something like that herself.

She nodded as Bee spoke. "I suppose, but he ultimately loses the mead to Odin, so in a way he fails to achieve his goal of avenging his father." She said, enjoying the conversation, and wondering how Bee would choose to respond.

Bee smiled and nodded. Bundling herself up more in the jacket for emphasis, the popstar almost beamed at Sylvi after the compliment. She was used to getting them for her look or voice, but for an ability she had that went almost unnoticed made her happy.
"It does. Unfortunately, as soon as I take it off, it returns to the original item. This comfy jacket would go back to being a boring baggy shirt."
Bee thought carefully about what Sylvi was saying about the story. It was an interesting thought. How would her mom respond if it was Bee asking her the same?
"That's the interesting thing about inspiration. Sometimes there isn't a reason it comes and makes us do things, and it's not always for the best, but it is always tilting the scales on decisions. He was inspired to not kill them, even though he was going to lose it in the long run. His story at that point can then inspire others."
She chuckled and continued, "You could say it was neccessary for the development of the plot."
