Ava tended to try and live every day like it was her last, the shortness of life and dangers behind every corner had been pounded into her skull when she'd grown up in the wilderness. But for Isstar it was almost literal.
Fuck, Isstar was so fucking strong that Ava felt almost pathetic in comparison. Almost.
"Don't get smart with me, you know what I fucking mean!"
Ava retorted with a huff at Isstar's deadpan answer. Shit, she'd forgotten how this guy took things way too literally, even if he seemed to do it less now. But it was a really huge fucking relief that Isstar wasn't ready to kick the bucket yet, and it showed it how tension left Ava's shoulders as Isstar spoke.
"That's the dork I know!"
Ava said and grinned again, though it was still a rigid one and Ava was still feeling volatile.
"We're gonna fucking find a way, there's no way you're leaving this world before me on my watch!"
