The shape, the belly of the ship, loomed just above, unaware of the dozens of peering eyes below. If one stood at the rail and looked very, very closely into the water, you could almost make out a vaguely twinkling light... Or maybe it was just the moonlight playing tricks on the waves.
Multiple shapes moved deep underneath the waves; there was more than one creature down there, but they were all quite small compared to the one that sat directly underneath the ship. Its many heads followed the slow, slothlike movements, waiting for its chance to bark orders. It was but a small mission, nothing that couldn't be accomplished quickly and efficiently.
If there was no cooperation, it was easy to erase it all and start over.
One of the many heads suddenly twitched towards the hull of the boat where a shadow appeared. Murky waters would make it difficult for regular eyes to see, but this was his element. The heads rose further, making out a human male with red hair.
