"Gambol," Caissa said without missing a beat. It was a long list of word play that no one would be able to figure out seeing as it passed through at least three different languages and contexts to arrive at the result. "You can call me Gambol."

"I completely understand though. I don't want more people than necessary getting involved either. Too many cooks, you know?" Caissa stopped walking and slipped her phone back into her jacket pocket. It was a throwaway she had gotten from Blue, but she wasn't going to be so stupid as to dispose of it here.

"It sounds like we have a deal though. Glad to be done getting bounced around from one person to the next."

Ade gave a curt nod and a gruff, "Hmph," that was supposed to be more of a "Mhm." She hadn't meant to be rude, but she was busy pulling out her phone to send a text message.

"I'm texting my family. Don't worry, I'm not giving any details. Only giving them a heads up that I have a project I want to work on with them... Would... Would you like to speak to them too? I guess that would be pretty important. Figuring out who can do the rest of the job. We could meet up at... my house? Somewhere else?" Ade honestly wasn't sure what the proper process for this was. She wasn't used to having sketchy, anonymous clients. This was business that Béa or Henghai would better navigate.

"How about this; give me your email. I'll send you the details of where we can meet. No offense, but I don't put myself in predators' dens without a way to protect myself."

Caissa patted Ade gently on the shoulder, giving her a far more pleasant smile than she had previously. "This is going to be great. I know you Oricenta like learning things. This a whole new discipline of magical artificing for you to learn." And Caissa hadn't had to twist her arm too hard about it, which was nice.

Giving her email to Gambol sounded like a... gamble. Ade had to restrain her laughter. Now wasn't the time. Back to the point, Ade didn't feel like she was in any danger, just out of the loop in a way she didn't like. Was that a gut feeling telling her this was a dangerous job, or her natural curiosity unsatisfied with not being given information?

Once again, Gambol showed off how much more information she had on Ade than Ade had on her. It was embarrassing, to put it bluntly. She matched Gambol's reassuring smile with one of her own before typing out her email on a notepad for the girl to read. Without a paper or pen, this was better than saying her email out loud, then spelling it out letter by letter.

"I'm certain everyone involved will benefit from this. I hope I can live up to your expectations. It'll take me a while to gather the necessary supplies and train myself for something of this level. This isn't a project I want to fuck up on."

Caissa glanced at the notepad on the phone, memorizing the email typed there. "Perfect. I'll email you in a few days with the location. We can hash out exactly when we want to meet up to start working."

Chewing on her thumbnail, she backed off to give Ade some space. "And I'll send you the basics of the magic you'll need to start looking into." Caissa suddenly felt a tug in her chest and her smile turned into an annoyed grimace. "Fuck me, not now."

"Being summoned. Not a lot of choice in the matter. Have a good day Arida. And remember, loose lips sink ships."

Caissa flickered once, fighting against the pull of whatever basement dwelling shitlord decided they needed Paimon's help. But it is was no use. Her form hiccupped and vanished, leaving Ade standing alone on the sidewalk.

Loose lips sink ships.

What a pleasant farewell to leave off with. The summoning caught Ade off guard and made her pity the girl, but she was happy that awkward goodbyes were not needed when they decided to part ways.

Ade had been stressing nonstop about this day. She worked with both Béatrice and Henghai to develop an eye that fulfilled all of Gambol's requirements would be compatible with her body. During the time of development, Gambol had to be contacted occasionally to answer questions. Mainly if there was anything to be on the lookout for. Materials she would be allergic to, physiological needs, etcetera. Her answers confirmed that nothing particularly crazy was needed. Other than the acceptance of this eye being made. In which case, there was enough crazy between Béatrice and Henghai to overshadow Ade's discomfort.
The three oricenta worked on a numbed, but not asleep, Gambol in a warehouse mysteriously already filled with medical equipment. The oricenta still brought their own out of comfort, but they appreciated the place being fitted to their work.

Béatrice was rather amused by Gambol not wanting to be put to sleep. It made the whole thing more exciting. Henghai, on the other hand, was annoyed. He worried that she should move around and struggle if she didn't like the pressure the surgery entailed. Worse of all, if she didn't like how the experts were doing things, he didn't want her being a nuisance by backseat driving the surgery. Ade didn't care about whether Caissa was asleep or awake, as long as she could get her work done. She was completely submerged in workaholic mode.

After several long hours, the enchanted eye was connected to Caissa's brain. The three oricenta took a step back to admire their work and wait for Caissa to adjust to her new ability. Each one wore an expectant look, wanting to be told that they did good work.

Caissa was so pleased about finding this place. Billy Graham had never been a particularly smart criminal, but he had somehow managed to keep these kinds of places hidden. She had stumbled upon it months ago and left immediately so she wouldn't lose it.

And now she was glad that she had. It was the perfect place for what she wanted. She had no intention of using it in the future, so it didn't matter if the Leizus knew about it.

The surgery was almost exactly what she had expected. She watched the entire thing from the steel table she was laid upon like a slab of meat, staring up at the operating theater mirror on the ceiling above. Even drugged up on the localized anesthesia she had had Blue summon for her, her mind was still ridiculously alert.

She also used this time to test how long she could hold her breath for. It helped her keep still even with the minor pangs she could feel through the drugs. After the first fifteen minutes, she was a little concerned. After the next hour, she was ecstatic. Something she hadn't known about. Maybe something new altogether. But a useful tool.

When the surgery was done, Caissa slowly stood up and felt around her new eye. It took it a second to come to life, first just bright, static white. Then blurry monochromes. And finally color. She couldn't help but break into a massive grin. "You gorgeous fucking psychopaths. I had doubts, honestly. Like, oh man I had so many contingencies in case you guys went to the cops or anything. But you pulled through for me."

She was already testing out the magic in the eye, knowing exactly how it worked. She designed the sigils after all. Her first goal was blackmail material: not for the Oricenta, but for her new pet werewolf. He still had a notion that he was in charge in their partnership.

"But you all pulled through for me. If I had a heart, I might almost love you."

Both Ade and Henghai were thankful that Caissa held her breath. Clearly, she was knowledgeable enough about how this would go that she knew to keep still by not breathing at all.

When the procedure was finished and Caissa smiled, all the oricenta's faces brightened. And then she called them psychopaths. Immediately, Ade and Béatrice gave worried side glances to Henghai. His expression was all smiles and sunshine, yet it was stiff with furrowed eyebrows.

Béatrice spoke up before Henghai could give a passive-aggressive comment. "We're so happy you're satisfied with our work. You don't know how much planning and stress went into this. Right, Ade?"

Ade avoided the glances of her partners. "Ah... Yeah. I'm happy you didn't, uh, use any of your contingencies..." She couldn't bother with a smile for that part. Oh Ilada, they were in such deep shit if she recorded them being here and used that as blackmail material. They were involved with this for real now. What would Archard say? It would certainly be an "I'm not angry, just disappointed," moment. She could feel a piece of herself shatter at that possibility.

"So, uh, how's the eye? Does it feel natural?"

Caissa noticed the look between the Oricenta, barely hiding her smirk. She had apparently done something, but exactly what was up in the air. She looked around the room, taking in the sights and closing her left eye to just let her receive visual information from the prosthetic.

"The muscle movements are a little jerky, but that's probably just something that will come with practice. Visual information is good," she said, waving her hand in front of her face. No latency that she could detect. Perfect.

"It doesn't feel natural for sure. The metal is cold. But you know, I'll live with it yeah? Again though, I can't thank you all enough. This just... vastly improves everything. It's nice for things to finally be working out for a change for me."

Pulling out yet another burner phone from her purse, she turned it on and loaded up some apps on it. "So I have the money I promised. I can wire it to wherever you want in whatever increments you want. We can call it consulting services for tax purposes: that's really the easiest way." There was no way to not leave a paper trail of some kind. So it was just easier overall to make it look like something innocuous and boring. If anyone asked, the idea was that Caissa was still looking for a way to stop herself from being summoned.

Ade caught that smirk and frowned hard at it, but Gambol moved things right along. Ade noted the criticism, almost wanting to take the eye back so she could fix it. She could do better than that. She knew it. Figure out some way to make the metal tolerable to a human's body.

But Gambol was pleased enough to pay, so she let Béatrice handle the transaction. Sounded like things were going to be paid slowly over weeks. In the meantime, Ade and Henghai began washing their equipment.

"We'll stay here to clean things up. If there's nothing else you need from us, you can leave whenever." Once again, Ade spoke harsher than she had intended, so she tried to play it off cooly. Like she was fed up with this project and wanted it done and over with.
