Damien was frantic. He ran outside, then back inside, and back out again. Lavender... she was here... the girl he loved was here. He looked at the book in his hands, and swallowed. He had been working on manipulating the color of plants just for her... just for her...
He ran to the lake, and fell to his knees near the ice. He laid the book down in front of him in the snow, not caring one bit if he ruined it. He flipped through the pages, trying to find the section on plants.
Please please please please please... yes! Here it is! he thought, skimming through the sentences to find the part he was looking for. He mumbled the words as he read, and once done, slammed the book shut and cleared away a section in the snow. Damien laid his hands on the ground and closed his eyes. His hands began to give off a faint, green glow, and a small stem sprouted from the ground. He touched it gently, helping it grow. He opened his eyes, which now had a ring of silver in them, and looked at the fully bloomed red rose.
He took a deep breath. Please let this work... he thought to himself, touching the bloom just as gently. He mumbled a few other words, and the red rose slowly began to turn to pink... to white... to a very, very light shade of purple. The color began to darken until it was the color lavender. A lavender rose for Lavender... he smiled, hoping she'd like it.
Damien plucked the flower from the ground, holding it gently in his hands. He waited, knowing Lavender loved nature, especially ice and snow. The only place to find ice at the academy was the lake... and when she came out, he'd be waiting for her.
