When she opened the door to the ice cream parlor, he stopped and tilted his head. "So you just want regular ice cream then?" He asked in confusion. "I thought we'd get mochi over there." He added, pointing behind him to the rather large and expensive looking restaurant across the street. The building almost looked more like a temple than a restaurant.
Cant remember how I described the one Laetus brought Maddie to, but its the same place :P

"Mochi is great, Shay-shay. You'll love it!"

Once inside the restaurant, Shay stopped in the middle of the room and peered around. Unsurprisingly, it was very Japanese. Shay had never been interested in Asian culture; she was more about European studies. She took a seat in the far back, pushing herself into a corner so she could watch the entire room. Better for no one to sneak up on her.

When she sat down, he moved in right next to her. "If you don't like that, I'll have to come up with something else." He told her with a smirk. Soon, the woman he waved to came around.
"Hey kiddo." She greeted him happily. "You brought a friend? Thats unusual for you. They usually think you're messing with them, right?"
Kenta laughed. "Yeah. She actually came though. First time for everything I guess." He seemed really happy. "Can we get some mochi? Like a bunch. She's never had it before."
"Really? Between you and Lae." She smirked and pinched his cheek. "Is this how you two impress girls or something?"
"Quit it!" He pushed her hand away, blushing a bit. "I just wanted to bring my friend here. Don't say embarrassing things like that."
She backed off, satisfied with his reaction. She looked to Shay. "Anything else, sweetie? Something to drink maybe?"

Shay's pushing started right back up when the woman mentioned impressing girls. Shay wasn't to be impressed dammit! Didn't he get it? She didn't like people! She barely tolerated them. Why was he pushing so hard to be around her? It's not like she was engaging or friendly. There were plenty of other people he could spend his time with.
She once again paused when she was looked at and spoken to. In an entirely normal tone of voice, too normal for how she'd just been comically pushing him off the seat, she said, "yes. Some lavender tea please, with a little honey." She waited until the woman walked away before her gaze swung to Kenta and her face pinched once more. "I'm unimpressed. Don't try to impress me!"

Shay was quiet until her tea arrived when she took a quick sip of it to ensure it was as she liked. She wasn't a huge fan of lavender tea, but it was better than anything else she could think of at the time. The honey made it easier to drink. "How long have you been in Manta Carlos? Two years?"

"Um... Not two years. I spent about a year and a half back home before I finally came here. So... Yeah, Like almost six months... What about you?"

"Where is your home?"
