Henghai gave a tired smile. "Unfortunately, yes." It wasn't the answer anyone wanted to hear. It wasn't the answer he wanted. "It's been tiring for everyone, honestly. I'm only a nurse, so I don't get information on progress being made. All I can do is help people who are finding themselves hurt from the boost in magic." He sighed tiredly.

"But I suppose I have to ask: does it hurt to pluck those flowers?" If a student was coming to him about self-harming, he needed to know.

"I see..." Carmin wasn't too satisfied with that, but he understood that Henghai was probably unable to give him a better answer than that. It seemed a lot of people were struggling this, and in the big scheme of things, extra flowers showing up was pretty minor.

"Huh?" Carmin looked down at a flower on his arm then back at Henghai. "No, not at all. I, um, can't feel much. You could probably take an entire arm off me and as long as I'm blindfolded I probably wouldn't be able to tell." Having lost an arm in the past, Carmin was talking more from experience than a guess.

"Let's hope that's never put to the test," he said with mild concern. "I still have some worries about that. Not being able to feel doesn't mean you aren't hurting yourself. I'd recommend you be careful about plucking them. I wouldn't want you getting hurt if the magic in the air leads to unforeseen consequences for the magic that's been modified. Even then, it could be similar to humans popping their pimples and leaving sores and dark spots all over their body."

"R-really?" Carmin had never really thought about it. Some of Henghai's concerns had already been more or less confirmed to be fine in the past. When he'd first become like... this, he remembered constantly plucking the dumb flowers and there was never any leftover markings on his body from that. However, it dawned on him that at the very least, regrowing the flowers must have taken energy and every time he pulled one, it was probably using up a fair share of his to make it come back.

"Alright, I'll try to leave them alone then."

Henghai realized that he may have been scaring the kid. His eyes widened for a moment, then "closed" again. "You seem fine so far, I just wouldn't want to indirectly encourage any bad habits. I'm sure whenever this magic situation is sorted out, I'll be provided more information to give to students. Until then, we'll have to wait."

While Henghai kept up a cool exterior, he could feel his restraint slowly loosening. He was a being of the elements. A being of the plants. Speaking to one so... distantly felt like some kind of sin. "I forgot to say, I'm Henghai Leizu. It's a relief to help a plant-person out. Much more my area of expertise."

The reassurance was nice to hear. It made Carmin feel more confident that this whole magic boosting mess was temporary and that it was going to pass sometime soon. Until then, he'd just have to deal with it.

When the nurse introduced himself as Henghai, Carmin did the same. "I'm Carmin. Would've come here sooner if I knew you were so good to work with plant stuff"

Henghai smiled calmly and leaned back in his chair. "If you ever see me available, I'll always welcome a talk. Just don't skip class to see me here," he said jokingly. "I'm the teacher advisor to the gardening club, but really, my husband is the one who's a plant expert. I just know enough to take care of plants and use them in medicine."

Was this an attempt at inviting Carmin to the gardening club? Most definitely, but Henghai was too used to indirectly expressing himself to ever say so outright.

"Don't worry, I never skip class." Carmin assured Henghai. It was the truth too. Carmin was very good at showing up to class. One of the few things he was good at was being a good student.

When it came to the gardening club, Carmin didn't really pick up on the fact that Henghai was giving him an invitation. He just figured that he was telling him more about why he was so knowledgeable with plants. To which Carmin responded with "Nice." Despite being a plant, Carmin didn't have much interest in gardening, he'd lost interest after some events from his past.

Following this, Carmin went to hop down from the bed. Unfortunately, he didn't hit the ground right and ended up falling onto his back.

That was a failure. Henghai considered being blunter, but he didn't want to come off as forceful.

But none of that mattered now that Carmin fell onto the floor. Henghai rushed over to him quickly. "Are you okay? Did you hit your head?"

Carmin lied there for a good few seconds. He didn't look hurt or anything even near it, he just looked unimpressed. After that, he gave a disappointed sigh and got himself up. He brushed off his legs and back then turned to Henghai.

"I'm fine. I think I did, but it doesn't really matter. No brain in here." Carmin tapped his head. "Anyway, thanks for the help."
