The heels of her boots clicked against the stone wall that hid the ocean from the rest of the world. It wasn't a very high wall, but it was tall enough for it to be difficult for a person without any skill to climb the wall. But thankfully Anastasia didn't need to be a skilled climber, although she was, because with wings a person didn't need to know those type of things. Like most days she came to the ocean, she had used her wings to get her on top of the wall, and soon to get her off of it. And even though it was a painful five minutes to grow her wings out of her back, it was worth every second after her brown eyes saw the sea. The waves crashing against the shore line, the birds flying along the ocean breeze, and the dancing fish that would fly into the sky for a split second just to catch a bite to eat.
Anastasia sighed as she let her wings fold into a resting position on her back, this was the only place she really felt comfortable. Even though she had attended Starlight Academy for over six years it still didn't feel like home. The cold stone and the lifeless windows meant nothing to her. The only thing that kept her at that place was the fact that she needed the training to defeat the person who killed her best friend Angela. But while she was here even that mattered little. The only thing that possesed Anastasia's soul here was the memories of her childhood, and how safe the world use to be. So safe from the coruptions of evil and the taunting of kids. But now that she was older there was no place she could be safe from that, except here.
"Just like every other day," Anastasia said quietly to herself as she watched the setting sun. "The only time I get to be alone, and it is going to take me almost all night to get back to school." The sea was some walking distance from the school, about thirty minutes or so. But Anastasia could easily do that. It wasn't the walking that took her so long, it was the flying. Oddly enough it took her even longer to fly home than it did to walk. Or at least it would until she practiced more. She had only had her wings for six months now, and although they felt like part of her body, they were weak.
Looking around the shoreline Anastasia realized that for once she was the only person there. Usually there were at least a few other students, bored from their daily lives, walking along the beach. But not today. Today it was only her. Moving a strand of blonde hair from her face, Anastasia tugged at her corset, attempting to pull it down a little. "I should have brought a jacket." Anastasia complained as a cool ocean breeze cut through her wings and her skin. Still sitting on the wall, Anastasia tried to divert her attention from the fact that she was freezing to the energy that was coming from the sun. Her mind slowly began to numb as the energy flew around her. All her attention gone from the world around her.
