Just A Quiet Walk In The Woods

Hal relaxed his shoulders after as Wind spoke to him. Clearly, she understood that that was one part of the conversation they didn't need to beat around. A part of Hal felt guilty for having acted like that but he brushed it off to reply.

"Classes were okay, I guess? My power classes just deal with meditation - at least in my case since I don't exactly fit in with the psychic kids. Nothing really new. Oh! Except that we got to try out fresco painting for art class..!"

Hal seemed to perk up as he mentioned his favorite class.

"It is when you're the type who don't want to sit around for more than 60 seconds." Hal replied with a heavy sigh. "I mean, it's hard to "clear your thoughts" when the teachers either roving around the room or sitting in front, intently staring at everyone." he added, making air quotes for emphasis. He never really was able to sit still long enough or keep his thoughts on one thing. It was hard and really complicated.

He turned to Ann with a smile, "Fresco painting is pretty hard for me, actually. I mean personally, I'm not really all that good with pigments in the first place and all but it was a nice to actually get to try it for once!" he said.

"Oh and.. uh... frankly I haven't seen that movie but whoa... you seriously made an ice castle here in school?" he sighed, "I'm not going to get to see that ever, am I?"

Hal shuddered a little bit as he felt a chill around. Did the temperature drop a little, he wondered? He wasn't very good in the cold; he didn't much like winter either, unless of course he was at home under his blanket fort with a warm cup of choco.

Hal hummed, "I actually haven't found anything that reminds me completely of home.." a beat, "I mean, we had a garden at the back, but it's not like the garden here so it doesn't feel very much home."

"I'm not good with temperature extremes, really." Hal mused aloud. "I mean I like a nice cool weather, but not freezing cold. I'd probably catch a cold or something even worse." he said. It probably never occurred to Hal, but he has always exaggerated a lot of things.

He fell quiet almost immediately after saying that, that he was able to hear Wind mutter something, but to him it was barely even coherent, added to the fact that seconds before that he was speaking as well.

"Did you say something, Ann?" he asked curiously.

Hal let out a hum as he remembered Wind having mentioned about her siblings earlier. Although, by the mention of having her family member come to the island and stay with her made Hal feel a little sad about himself. He hasn't had contact with his family since he left. He tried sending letters but he never actually got any replies.

Hal immediately managed to vanish the thought away as he realized Wind was right next to him. He seemed to have spaced out for a second or two and was staring at the girl before him. "Huh? Me?" he echoed, almost a little surprised (mostly at himself for having reacted so dimly.)

just as soon as the words escaped his mouth, Hal immediately tried to figure out something to say. Without any other option to choose, he went with, "You know, by the way you're acting, it's like you're going to introduce your boyfriend to the family."

As soon as Hal said that, he started regretting letting that thought out.
