Like any good student, instead of doing work, Cyrano de Bergerac was lying under a shady tree on a hot summer's day, trying to settle in for a nap.

He had been on the go it felt like for nearly a week now. Last semester's finals had taken a toll on him mentally it felt like, even though he had managed to ace the history and literature classes, as well as to a lesser extent science. The history books got some of the interpretations wrong in his opinion, but he didn't bother speaking up to correct his teacher anymore. It did feel a little strange at times, being over a millenium old yet still 'feeling' youthful, as his counsellor described it. Maybe it was just him, who knew, he just tried to take things one day at a time and go from there.

None of that mattered now though, it was the peak of summer, and Cy had nothing important to do for once. He wasn't in any clubs, he didn't compete in any sports, nor was he a part of any academic circles- he was free to do whatever he wanted, whenever he wanted. Perhaps that was the most enjoyable thing in itself, the ability to saunter out of his dorm room and sit under a nice tree in the courtyard, close his eyes, and nap until it was night. His sword, Kibou, was with him as it always was, but the creatures here hardly warranted any sort of caution in his opinion. It was refreshing not having to launch into a melee against the supernatural.

With a small content, smile on his face, Cy grew still as he tried to settle in for what he was hoping would shape up to be a prime power-nap.

Picking out a face, a personality, it was like picking out the perfect set of clothing for Rhymien. He had been somewhat lazy in his approach to the island, having originally ventured here for a sole purpose. That was done with now, though. He had to dust his personas off and work out their tweaks through interaction.

Rhymien had been many, many people in his lifespan (which was to say eternally). It sometimes got boring, trying to find unique spins. Trying to care. It was the crux of agelessness – boredom.

That particular day, Rhymien had gone out as Hasley. A shapeshifter, not far off from himself, with an inhuman appearance and a desire for a good time, night or day.

This, Rhymien recalled, was one of Elric's more favored forms. He didn't have time to think about that, though. It was time to get his head in the game!

The thing that took Hasley's attention within the schoolyard was the flash of bright red. Bright red and a very long nose. A Tengu? It had been a long time since Rhymien had seen one of those.

Making a beeline for him, Hasley leaned over the man, reaching out, so her finger hovered directly over the point of his nose. Her eyes were wide and curious; her lips puckered into a quizzical 'o' shape.

"Woah. I've been here about a year, and I haven't seen a thing like you before."

Cy was beginning to drift off, the pleasant summer day enveloping in warm rays of sun that felt like a blanket of sorts. He had lived most of his life in the forests and mountains, there was something about sleeping in the trees and grass that felt more reassuring than a warm bed on a cold night. In optimal napping position, Cy could feel his head begin to grow light as he felt his worries slip away slowly but surely. Though, as a new voice suddenly directed itself at him, the tengu frowned, opening one eye to see what all the hullabaloo was about.

The figure of the girl standing in front of him had cast a shadow over him, her focus seemed solely on his nose, as most humans usually did. Naturally being a rather introverted fellow who relished his 'me' time. She seemed to be a normal student at least, with white hair and full black lips. "Thank you?" he asked, not sure where to take such a statement as a positive or a negative, truth be told.

The tengu looked the woman over, his golden hawkish eyes roaming up and down before returning to her own, "I'm a tengu, a yokai. We're the ones people typically forget about due to how many fox spirits there are running around campus" he said with a shrug, noting a trend he had seen so far in the demographics of the school. So far as he knew, he was the only tengu here, something that didn't surprise him truthfully. "Who, and what, are you?" he asked, raising an intrigued eyebrow as he looked up at the stranger.

Hasley crouched, arms draped over her knees as she stared at him with a little too much intensity. It bordered the comical.

"Not a fox spirit, that's for sure! But if you wanted some moxy foxy time, I could turn into one. I'm a shapeshifter; it's kiiiiiiinda what I do, y'know?"

Seeing as he didn't seem overly annoyed with her nearly touching his nose before, Hasley did this time. As the tip of her finger made contact with the tip of his nose, she grew one identical and shifted until she had the same facial shapes and, strangely enough, the magical properties and scent of another Tengu.

As quickly as she'd done this, she removed her finger and returned back to normal, grinning abnormally large. At least she didn't have fangs.

"Ah! How rude of me. Yeah yeah. I'm Hasley Carnahan, at your service. Not really. Not if whatever you want is inconvenient or otherwise boring. These are my terms."

Huh, well that was different. Cy looked up at the woman with his yellow eyes, he hadn't met a thoroughbred shapeshifted before, it was certainly different. The red skinned yokai wasn't quite sure how to react or what to say at the strange woman's offer. "Uhh, sure" he said at the offer of her to turn into a kitsune for him. They were fairly popular spirits back in his homeland, but were always an easy target to seduce as well due to their abundance of beauty yet lack of brains.

At feeling the woman touch his nose though, the yokai scrunched up his nose a bit and frowned. The sight of her transforming into an identical being to him, another tengu that is, was slightly alarming. She smelled like a tengu, looked like one, it was uncanny. Cy squirmed a bit at seeing the extent of her powers, moreso at seeing her abnormally large grin plastered all over her face.

"I'm Cy. I don't think I'm boring, so, I guess I've got that going for me" he said, introducing himself with a shrug and learning the woman's(?) name was Halsley. The tengu looked her over once as he pondered his next words, she certainly was a looker, he could admit that right then and there. "So, what should we do now?" he said, waiting for something to happen and curious to see what the woman had in mind.

Givin minxish smile, Hasley tapped her chin and stood to eye him over at full. "I don't know. Why not prove just how unboring you are? What's the wildest and fun thing you can think of us doing right now? I'm game for anything – so long as it won't get me killed."

While waiting for him to decide on their next plan of action, Hasley did as requested and turned herself into a beautiful kitsune with nine tails. It was reminiscent of many scrolls and artwork, white with tinges of red on the face and eyes a deep deep brown rather than gold.

Just like when she had changed shape before, her entire scent and magical property seemed to change with her. She grinned, showing teeth and let the tails sway lightly as she reached a paw up to lick it and use it to clean the back of her ear. The fur seemed soft as a dream.
