What's New
Starlight Academy Webzine 2016
It's here! We are very excited to introduce the second edition of the Starlight Academy Webzine! Thank you so much to all of the contributers who worked hard to make beautiful stories and artwork for the zine. We hope that everyone enjoys this years issue!
All zine contributers are eligible for the Webzine Contributer Medal.
Member/Character Cleanup
The staff like to regularly go through all the members who haven't been active recently and move them to the inactives group; this hides them from the members list and helps prevent members from messaging someone who hasn't been on or posted in a while. All characters of inactive members have been moved to the Character Archives, and all relevant lists in the Claims forum have been updated!
Club System Revamp
In the November announcements I announced that if a club leader fails to make a plotting thread for the club within a month, they would be demoted, and a month passed.
As a result, leadership for any clubs that don't have a leader labeled is up for grabs. You can become a leader of a club by creating a new thread in the brand new Clubs forum. For more information on how to make a Club, and how the Clubs system works, please check out this thread.
Club leaders are still expected to be active and trying to get plots going for their club. If a club thread is dead for 3 months after the last bump, it will be archived and club leadership is open for grabs once more. Clubs will now be organized exclusively in the Clubs forum.
Glamours & Magical Items Clarification
We've noticed an increase in members using the magical item known as Glamours. A glamour is basically a temporary magical spell that makes a character appear different than they actually are. For a full in depth description of what we at Starlight Academy define glamours as, please read this page.
We also want to remind members that any non-temporary magical item, including glamours, should not be added to your characters profile without the permission of @Emy or another member of staff. Even if it seems like a small inconsequential magical item, it should still be brought to our attention for approval.
Account Types
As of the New Year, Starlight Academy no longer allows members to use the site as Accounts-Per-Character. Each member should only have one account which goes by their alias. All members that are currently operating as Account-Per-Character will have all their subaccounts merged into their main one.
Names in ICC
This is just a general reminder that character names in the ICC should match the title of your characters profile! Staff members need to be able to easily find your characters application and using a shortened version or nickname for your character makes it difficult for us to do our jobs.
Starlight Academy Merch Store
We recently made an announcement regarding the Merch Store — the fact of the matter is, without your guys' support the merch store WILL close before it even gets to take off. As of now we still don't have enough orders for us to keep the store open, but I am going to keep it open for about another week. If there is no more traction by then, the store will close. I highly recommend that all individuals interested in supporting SA by getting cool stuff in return to please read that announcement!
New Medals
We are introducing new Medals as an incentive to participate in our social media pages! If you follow/like us on twitter and facebook, you get a nifty little medal. And if you contribute ANY fanwork to our tumblr, you also get a medal. Fanwork can be poems, fanfiction, character inspired music playlists, fanart, or just about anything that is inspired by Starlight Academy.
Staff Changes
StarChat is coming very very soon... in anticipation, we are looking to bring on new Rangers as soon as possible, that way they are fully trained by the time StarChat is released. We are looking for members that are currently or are willing to be VERY active in the ICC, as that will be where you will be working most of the time.
If you're interested, please fill out the following form and send it to Kyros! The qualification are as follows: Must be 16+ and be a member for at least 4 months.
January Events
Straight out of Hansel and Gretel, a mysterious Candy House has appeared at the entrance to the woods, far off from the city. But not all is as it seems...
Getting into that Winter Wonderland craze? Come visit Madame Gardenia's Cottage Lodge in the mountains! Madame Gardenia, a wealthy ski resort owner, has decided to open her lodge to the public for this amazing winter weekend bonanza! Cozy Cottage is an ICC event spanning from January 14th to January 16th.
