To create a school group, post a thread in the Academy Clubs & Organizations forum with the following template! Creating a thread means that your character will be the group leader, so please only start the thread if you have a character planning to take the position. To join an already created group, simply post in its thread. Example of an official thread. Use your group's name for the thread title. Tag your plotting thread and other group related threads with the group's name for easy tracking. More details can be found below, along with the automatically updated group list, which you can use to quickly find groups and their descriptions instead of digging through the forum for them.

Students can be members and leaders of groups. Staff members can be supervisors or sponsors. Citizens can be sponsors.

Group leaders are expected to keep their groups active, and if there is no posts three months after the last bump of the thread, then the thread is archived for any new leader to recreate.

Groups are expected to be school appropriate, and can be removed or have adjustment requests at moderator discretion. Ideally, though with a few exceptions, your group should be more specific rather than general.

All group members can start group themed threads and meetings, though only leaders can create more ambitious events/make serious decisions about the group, unless a member has permission.

If you'd like your group description on this listing updated, please PM @Tom Marvolo Riddle~

Art

Art Club

The art club is open to all kinds of art and skill levels, as well as structured and unstructured activities. There are a lot of regular meetups where you can start new things, or work on whatever you already have going, while talking to and getting feedback from other club members- and non-club members are even welcome to stop in and watch, or try things out with supervision and use of the club's supplies in some of these casual art jams. More planned events get a lot of passion put into them as well, often impressively put together.

The art club is warm and protective, very close knit and cared for by the leader, members, and any visitors alike. It's a safe place.

The room it's located in has computers with art programs and drawing tablets, big open desks, comfy furniture, blankets, pillows, snacks, and an impressive hoard of supplies that everyone is encouraged to contribute to as much as they take from. There are also big windows with a pretty view, and a sink to clean things paintbrushes and messy hands.

Interest

Film Club

The Starlight Academy Film Club gets together every friday night to watch a different movie, and discuss it among themselves. Film lists get posted at the start of the semester, and people are free to come and go depending on if they're interested in a given movie.

Starlight Technology Advancement, Retrieval, and Kode (STARK)

Here at STARK, we help people with all of their technological needs. We correct errors caused by both the user and their device. However, although programming and troubleshooting are within our wheelhouse, we also look forward to the technology of tomorrow, even going so far as to build it ourselves. We also find it important to look back on past tech, so that mistakes are not repeated. Like the N-Gage......no-one likes the N-Gage.

Political

Demonic Student Union (DSU)

A club for students with demonic heritage and their friends and allies. The club provides a safe place to discuss demonic issues such as stereotypes, bullying (both of demons and by demons), coping with unnatural urges, and navigating the unusual expectations or rules imposed by demonic parents or hellish contracts. Events and campaigns will be held to portray demons in a more positive light, to allow students to network with demonic alumni or friends of the academy, and to educate the public about demonic diversity. After all, there is more than one "hell" in the multiverse represented on this island, and the term "demon" itself is a bit of an oversimplification.

The club holds a bake sale and other fund-raisers every semester to raise money for their philanthropy: the De-Worm the World Initiative (DWtW), an organization that provides access to cheap medical procedures that remove life-threatening or development-stunting parasites from children in developing countries.

*

Fairfolk Associates Education (FAE)

Fairfolk Associates Education, or FAE, is a club centered around educating Fae and other races about the Fairfolk. They host authentic Fae events and parties, with factual food, drinks, and snacks. They gather twice a week; one gathering is to talk about customs and educate anyone who joins and the second meeting is to address issues and concerns regarding the Fae.

The Mutation Association

Were you created in a lab? Were you forced to have a power that altered your DNA? The Mutation Association may be the right club for you! The Mutation Association is dedicated to bringing together former experiments in order to ensure that they are important in the scope of life outside their laboratory. Colloquially, members refer to themselves as Genetically Modified Optimists, or GMO’s for short. The Mutation Association is both a support and political advocacy group. They work to heal other members by sharing stories and fun, research the locations of other GMO’s, and liberate those who are captive from labs all over the world. Whether you’re looking for solstice or like-experienced friends, please stop by for a meeting or two!

*

Starlight Political Alliance

A club for politically inclined, involved, or concerned students hoping to make a difference both in the school and the island at large. Starlight Political Alliance hopes that through perseverance, dedication, and teamwork, they can get rid of prejudice, give minorities a voice, and all in all make the island a better place to live in, one project at the time. Starlight Political Alliance is heavy on charity, politics, and volunteer work. They work closely with the Student Council and various species specific organizations, like the Demonic Student Union, Undead Club and Shapeshifters Non-Anonymous.

*

Starlight Academy Youth Premier Club

An exclusive club for the sons and daughters of the rich and powerful at Starlight Academy, secretly maintained for decades by the leaders of large noble families, politicians, CEOs as well as powerful criminals. Set in an extravagant room away from the general population of the academy. Here the sophisticated, rich and famous enjoy one another's company, plot against those lesser than them and work to influence politics. This is not specifically an academic club and it's members are often members of the Political Alliance and various other groups.

School

Starlight Academy Cheerleading Squad

Do you know what makes every event a hundred times better? Five, six, seven, eight — Cheerleaders, no debate! The Official Cheer Squad of Starlight Academy is an elite group of beautiful and athletic women (and men) that help cheer on our wonderful athletes in Sports Events and participate in international cheer competitions. Only the best of the best make the cut, and each member will be obligated to practice every week after classes. But it's all worth it! You can't put a price on a good cheer.

Starlight Academy Student Council

Student Council is a closed group that runs elections twice a year - once in February/March, and once in September. You can find a listing of the duties of each position here. Elections are always announced in the events forum.

Sports

Northwest Thunderbirds Basketball Team

The Northwest Thunderbirds are a Highschool Basketball team that is currently rated the second strongest team for the Highschool, and fourth strongest over-all team. They are well known for their monster "Ace" new member, and the fact that most of the team is currently old benched members beyond the ace. They are looking for new members actively and wanting to focus on team power building. Most time will be spent bonding, and practicing with one another to encourage growth as a team instead of individual skill growth.

The club is open to any and all skill levels, welcoming training new members due to the extreme shortage of members and the heavy reliance on the team's current Ace. Current a bit of a dysfunctional family, the goal is to gather new members and become a high functioning family and team. The team tends to go to meals together after the initial practice, and are closely affiliated with the "Sports Club" and "Cheerleading Squad" due to the closeness in work- and they often plan gatherings together with the clubs.
