A Friday evening off for a surgeon was like finding a unicorn in the narrow reality. Weekends free from being elbow deep in some creature’s rib cage were few and far between, and for Connie, the opportunity didn’t usually amount to much. Most of her days off were spent pants-free and in front of the TV, usually accompanied by pirated clown soap operas and bubblegum ice cream.
But tonight, she decided to shake things up. There were a few joints she had been meaning to check out, as if to make up for the years she wasted in her twenties burying her nose in books. She was still young…. ish. So she probably still had it in her to hit up the town and visit a club or two.
She sat at the bar of one of the most popular clubs on the island, and it was indeed bustling. She had ordered a daiquiri, the kind that was more sugar than alcohol. Connie didn’t drink often anyway, considering hard liquor might as well have been poison to someone who grew up on a birthday cake diet. But a fruity girly drink was enough to get the job done. And by job, she meant actually having the courage to put herself out there.
She downed some of her drink unceremoniously, swiveling in place on her bar stool. She was wearing an actually cute outfit for once- a body on dress that managed to be one of the few nice things she had that didn’t get ruined by blood. Out of the corner of her eye she could see people dancing, groups of young women out on a girls night, and freshly created matchups possibly about to get lucky. She sighed. Why did she feel so… different?
