"Well," Fe said as she capped her bottle of water. "I was hoping you'd ask that," she admitted as she looked directly at Carmin, a satisfied smile on her face.

"I want to hire you as my songwriter," she told him very simply. "Your poems have the right amount of angst and they suit my style almost perfectly," she explained.

Carmin's eyes widened a bit, admittedly surprised by that. Was Fe joking or serious? There was still a strong piece in him that failed to believe her. Telling him that this was all a drawn out and horrible prank. She'd been awfully convincing last time though, and she'd even given him a hundred dollars.

"Fe... Are you actually serious?" The honest truth was that he wanted to take her offer. He just couldn't believe that she was being honest. She hadn't really given him any reason to think otherwise, but he still couldn't help but approach something like this cautiously.

" It was one thing to purchase one of the poems but to hire me?"

"Yes, I am serious ... very, in fact," the sirin said with a toss of her hair. "I tracked you down, didn't I? I would not go through the effort if I wasn't serious. I have way better things to do than stalking somebody for fun," she admitted as rested her arms comfortably against the table.

"And why would I hire you? Cause it's basically easier than trying to cajole a poem out of you," Fe told Carmin, being completely honest with him.

It sounded like she was telling the truth. In fact, she had always sounded like that. He had no reason at all to doubt her, never really did. So then why, even now, was he feeling so reluctant?

It was cowardice in the end, he already knew the answer. Even if he told himself that the poems were garbage, he still didn't want to hear it from other people. He didn't want people to make fun of him for it. The poems were personal, they were his feelings, and sharing those was, well, terrifying.

Fe, on the other hand, didn't make sense to him. She seemed so willing to share her passion and never seemed frightened about it at all. Back when she bought his other poem, she was so upfront about it, and even now it was the same. Just the fact that she was a singer, how did anyone do that? How did they learn to sing without feeling embarrassed? What exactly was the secret?

"Another question... Sorry. I need to know. How are you able to share your passion without feeling fear?"

Fe played with her water bottle, spinning it by the top with her fingers as she thought about Carmin's question. Normally, she'd have said it was in her nature, that sirin's are good at singing... which was true, to a point, but not all sirin's sought the limelight like she did.

"I think my confidence stems from me knowing that I can sing well and that people like my singing," Fe said as she looked at Carmin. "Also, if I am completely honest, I enjoy the attention too," she admitted unabashedly.

"However, I do get that a lot of people are not like me ... which is probably a good thing," she quipped, acknowledging the fact that she could be really handful at times.

"And its probably a thing of finding what you are good at, trusting yourself, and not being afraid to step out of your comfort zone once in a while."

Ever since his arrival on the island back in the summer, Carmin hadn’t really ever allowed himself to go outside his comfort zone. Sure, he’d been forced out of it, by others, but it never was a choice. Now it was.

He felt inclined to turn her down and continue living the way he had, but at the same time that wasn’t really what he wanted. He wanted to change, and this was a great opportunity, even if it was a frightening one.

“I’ll do it...” He responded suddenly, but quietly. He wasn’t sure if it would pay off or he’d regret it, but he knew for certain that if he passed up the offer, he’d regret that decision in the future.

Fe broke out in a delighted smile when Carmin said they'd do it. She had hoped Carmin would accept without too much convincing, but honestly, she had not expected it. She had thought it would be a fight trying to get him to accept her offer.

"That is wonderful. Thank you," Fe told him, very obviously happy about this. "Can you read music?" she asked curiously.

Carmin nodded hesitantly when she thanked him, already starting to wonder what he’d gotten himself into. It was scary but also kind of exciting, he wasn’t used to the kind of feelings he had about all of this.

As for if he could read music or not. “No, I can’t, although...” For a while now he’d wanted to purchase an instrument, something to practice and learn to pass some of the excess of free time that he had. “I’m willing to learn I guess. How to read music I mean. I have a lot of free time and I don’t really sleep at night so I could probably learn quickly.”

"It's okay if you don't," Fe reassured Carmin as she twisted the cap off her water again. "I just think it helps," she explained as she took a sip of her water while she listened to Carmin talk about learning how they could learn to read music if needed.

"Well, if that's the case..." Fe said, pleasantly surprised by this sudden change of attitude. This willingness to try something new.

"If you want, I can always lend you a hand, or books, or even an instrument. Heaven knows, I definitely have things you can borrow. I'm actually a Music major, and a bit of a hoarder as my Fox likes to point out... " she confessed as she remembered Jericho commenting on all the stuff she had accumulated over the years when she moved in with him.

Fe’s offer was actually a pretty good one, in fact, he was thinking about actually taking it. Usually he didn’t take handouts, but he assured himself that this was different.

“Hmm... A book might actually help, I’m good to read... And as for an instrument...” That part was tricky, he wasn’t even sure what he wanted to play, or what he even could. “Is there anything you recommend for a beginner? Aside from the stuff where you have to blow, I don’t really uh, have lungs.”
