Private It's Not You It's Me, Even Though I Say It's You

"I know, Row, but you're still not injury proof," Michi told him, concern evident in her expression. It wasn't as if she was trying to hide it anyway. Plus, these days Rowan did sometimes seem to just not be aware how much he easily hurts himself just because he can't feel the pain. More so when he reminded her that he couldn't tell that he felt cold to the touch. Maybe it was just the chill air and she was just overthinking? Michi sighed in defeat, sure enough she couldn't really convince Rowan to be any more careful. "Okay, but even so, don't forget to at least dress warmly. You might actually catch a cold even if you don't feel the chill -- even worse, hypothermia." She took her attention to her food, the momentary silence reminding her the reason for why she decided to invite him out. It was fine, she told herself. Just a little more time, enough that she can pull off that spell without hurting them. "I really want to figure something out to help you with that before summer though.," she mumbled almost to herself.

Michi's heart went out to him, friend or lover, Rowan was still someone she did care about, and seeing him so down about the loss of his senses really did pain her, but she couldn't just let him get away with risking even more injuries, regardless of how much he can't feel it or not. In the end, they didn't even know how much damage his body could still take. Rowan assuring her that he'd take care was but a temporary comfort, but it was enough to at least keep the bad thoughts at bay. Michi smiled at him softly, "Don't over estimate the cold, okay? I can't stop you from using your abilities to warm yourself, but it doesn't hurt to be safe with warm clothes." Though as he smile appeared, it slowly did fade as her main focus came back. The most she could offer was a hum in agreement before she turned her attention back to her meal. Her mind, preoccupied with how she was going to break the news to Rowan. She didn't return the squeeze from their hand -- not that he would have been able to tell. "S-so," Michi bit her tongue, scolding herself from stuttering. "I haven't been to that store you kept mentioning; did you find anything interesting there? I know small bookshops tend to have little trinkets on their shelves."

Michi exhaled slowly, somewhat assured. Knowing Rowan, he would likely keep his promise about that. It was already one thing that he can barely take care of himself due to the loss of feeling, it was another thing since he just recently come out of the hospital. It would be bad if he had to be brought back there. Even so, she didn't say anything but offer him a smile and hiding it just a moment later by sipping from her drink. It was harder to keep smiling when she was starting to grow anxious. Seeing their plate slowly get emptied meant time ticking towards the end of their last date. Perhaps permanently, or simply for a while -- she couldn't tell for sure. "Pshh. I'm not that smart," she said, brushing off the compliment with a bashful chuckle. She wouldn't consider herself a prodigy of sorts (despite the fact she felt like her mentor saw her that way), but she wouldn't really say she was all that intelligent to begin with. She just happened to be good at whatever she was fixated on, and it just happened to be music and magic. "What were the ones you put on hold though? I'm kinda curious."

Michi chuckled softly, "Nah, I just got a good teacher," she told him, picking at the crumbs from her meal to keep herself occupied. "I probably wouldn't even know when to start if I hadn't asked her to train me. She's been pretty strict so yeah, no, I'm not allowed to not be careful." She hummed with curiosity at the mention of the books she'd asked about. "Like... Merlin himself? From the Arthurian legends?" she asked, surprise clear in her voice. She hadn't considered the authenticity of legends, despite how long she'd been on the island. She was much too focused on the technicals of her studies, she didn't even notice any names along the way. Her musics were cut soon when Rowan offered to buy it for her. "W-what-- ohh, no, no, it's okay!" she stammered, trying to force a smile "I can cover it, you've gotten so much for me already, I'd feel bad if you have to cover for my current fixations too."

And intrigued she was. It was enough to distract Michi, her thoughts trailing at what she could possibly pick up from that book and the exhibits. Of course, it wouldn't directly affect the spell her mentor had already prepared, but it would largely contribute on their understanding of their abilities. Although her thoughts would have to wait for another time, as Rowan spoke again, insisting on paying for the books she'd mostly benefit from. "But Rowaaan," she whined. She'd never told anyone -- or expressed it in anyway -- but didn't like getting spoiled too much. But on this argument, she didn't have anything to argue. Between the two of them, Rowan had the paying job when hes off-school, meanwhile, she had extra classes that wasn't part of the curriculum. Still, Michi felt like she was taking advantage of his kindness if she'd let him cover the whole expense. She turned to the remains of her meal with a bit of a pout, "Can I at least cover a part of it?" she tried, bargaining for one last time.
