It was late at night, and the alleyway outside of Darkheart Artifacts was void of nearly all life, save the intrepid few who braved the back alleyways of the Underground. Xavier was currently seated behind the heavy mahogany counter which served as the main service desk. Impeccably dressed as always, his hair was styled, suit vest devoid of all wrinkles, and a very expensive gold watch was securely fashioned around his right wrist.

However, Xavier was far from idle. He had a polishing rag in one hand, and a field guide to ancient Mayan burial locations in the other. Business has been slow of late, and as the store was closing soon for the night, he thought that he might as well get to planning his next excursion.

Out of curiosity, Xavier scanned the dim interior of the store. Racks and racks of his procured or created items, weapons, and pieces of equipment were laid about the racks organized by type. and size. "Well, at least it's quieter than the shop back home." He muttered to himself.

He lifted his wrist slightly and checked his watch. Even though closing time was approaching, it seemed time wanted to take its leisurely, well, time.

With another exasperated sigh, he rose from the chair, and placed the polishing rag onto the shelf set into the back of the counter. Xavier then walked back through the heavy oak door which lead to the workshop, if anyone did some in, which he doubted at this time of night. The bell above the door would alert him to their entrance.

Fitz took one last swig of his flask and pocketed it as he approached the storefront he had in mind. He was, for once, dressed up as nicely as he could, though he was still by and large more casual than the person he was going to meet.

Fitz's eyes cut over to his best friend, the man who he would take a bullet for and who he was like eighty percent sure would do the same for him. Terry. Using hand signals they had developed years ago and adapted once Terry had come clean about his powers, he silently told the other man to turn invisible and walk behind Fitz to match his steps.

The storefront was empty, at least from the quick glance that Fitz took around the window. He didn't think the owner waloupd be gone yet? He had been casing this place for weeks.

With a tired sigh, he walked through the door, letting ilthe bell ring and alert anyone inside of his presence.

When the bell above the door jingled pleasantly, Terry didn't even glance up. God did he hate those bells, not that they'd ever stopped him from thieving before. But tonight was not about knicking any goods.

Tonight, he and Fitz were looking for business opportunities. Fitz wanted to have the shop at least up by the time his wedding came around, which was this month. They'd been working hard day and night together. Terry had avoided most casual conversation because he was still sore at his best friend, even if he continued to play around.

"Looked as good a place as any to me, mate," he whispered to Fitz right before they'd come into the building.

Terry had lingered here before and checked things out, briefly spoke with the store owner. He had been scoping it, but not for a heist for once. He'd done it as smoothly as he did most illegal activities.

It felt like home, doing this.

"One moment!" Xavier called from his work room as he dropped a particularly dense sheet of mana resistant metal. He quickly wiped his hands on a spare rag before nonchalantly throwing the rag over his shoulder. Xavier braced himself, checked his watch, and made sure a spare switchblade was hidden up one of his sleeves in the event the feds had come knocking.

With a deep breath, he pushed open the door to the main area of the store. His eyes immediately landed on a lone stranger. He wasn't dressed as immaculately as Xavier was, although his clothes weren't in complete disarray either.

"Good. I don't need to throw another hobo out this week." Xavier tiredly thought to himself as he remembered the prior incident involving a homeless man, and overturned shelf, and several anti-personnel stun cannons. "I still need to scrub those scorch marks out of the floor." He mentally noted to himself as he approached the counter and flashed the man one of his winning smiles.

"Welcome! I see you've stumbled upon my humble shop. What can I do for you?" Xavier said as he produced his notepad from his back pocket and held a pen ready to document whatever order these two had come here for.

He momentarily had the odd sensation that he was being watched, however he chose to ignore his gut feelings for once and continued to exude the confidence of a practiced businessman.

Fitz slipped his hands out of his pockets and offered them, open palm, for Xavier to see. Totally non-threatening. That, and his easy-going smile should hopefully have disarmed the man before him.

He decided to not talk at a hundred kilometers an hour and fill his speech with doubletalk. He wanted to make a good impression, after all. And it was hard to do that when the person could barely understand you.

"Evenin' bruv. Name's Fitz. If ye dinnae mind, A'll jes' cut t' th' meat o' th' situation, aye?"

He doffed his hat and snapped it back on, taking a flask out of his pocket. "A'm a gentleman o' fortune y'see. Cash rules e'rythin' 'round me an' all tha'."

"A'm ''re cause A seen ye. A keep me eye on people like yerself. An' A need yet partic'lar services fer a business venture A go' me eye on."

Terry wouldn't cast away his invisibility until Fitz told him it was time, assuming Fitz ever did. It was a useful skill for certain. He didn't always like being invisible; it brought him to a weird place in the world. Something that he couldn't see with the eyes so much as feel in his bones. An odd threat of no longer being part of the world.

At some point when the two of them were in the shop, and the man and Fitz were speaking to each other, Terry cast away his invisibility in favor of his power to go unnoticed. Even Fitz would look right over him unless directly searching for him.

Any cameras would catch him later in the surveillance, but that was fine, the two weren't robbing the place. He looked at a few of the trinkets around without touching anything, silently listening to the conversation at hand and watching Fitz for any queue.

Xavier's ears perked up at the word cash and he instantly was more alert. "Well now, I'm sure I have something to fulfill a request for a gentleman such as you." He began to jot down several notes onto his notepad before he looked back up at Fitz. "Now then, what exactly is it that you require?" Xavier asked, flashing his trademark smile whilst gesturing around the shop.

"I'll even throw in a discount as you're a new customer, and I do love my patrons. Twenty Percent discounted price, your choice." Xavier said while still grinning. "Perfect, once I have him sold, he'll be coming back regularly. I just hope he has the pocketbook to sustain such a thing."

As soon as this thought crossed his mind, he felt the odd sensation he was being watched, although Xavier chalked it up to nerves. His alarm systems would've alerted him much sooner should anyone else be inside the shop. Xavier mentally shrugged and tucked his notepad into the back pocket of his slacks.

Fitz smiled that simple, kind of country boy smile that he had perfected long, long ago. The kind that made him seem a lot less intelligent than he really was, but that was easily seen through if you were the same kid of bullshitter that he was.

"A need ye t'rig a buildin' t'teleport 'round th'feckin' planet." {I need you to rig a building to teleport around the planet.}

Fitz held up a hand to stop any initial protest. It wasn't just teleporting. "A got other stipulations too, bu' first A gotta be honest, bruv. A need t'ken yer on th' up 'n up, savvy?" {I've got other stipulations too, but I gotta be honest, friend. I need to know you're on the up and up, understand?"

He hoped that his meaning was clear, that this man wasn't so daft as to need it spelled out plainly that Fitz was asking for his help in a criminal endeavor. And an ambitious one at that.

Terry wanted to scoff, but he held off. Instead, he looked over a few of the wares around, even picking a few up. So long as he didn't drop anything or start dancing around like a monkey, it still should have been fine.

Terry wasn't used to being this quiet for so long. It was dull but fine, he'd do it for Fitz if only so that Fitz would owe him. All this bullshit because he was getting married. Ridiculous.

Logically, Terry couldn't say it was a step in the wrong direction, but he'd have done it anyway because he was a petty, childish manchild.
