Max raised an eyebrow, grinning in what he hoped was an insane manner. "By the time you figure that out, it'll be too late." He, paused, then, seriously: "But, really, you're right. Besides, I've no problem with breaking rules... Especially if they're stupid ones."

Max laughed, playing along. "You could also tell people you're not insane. That works pretty well for me." A pause, and he corrected himself: "well, not the bad sort of insane, anyway." He glanced at his watch, arching an eyebrow at the time. He was... What, two hours late? They probably assumed he was off setting fire to the school, not carrying an injured girl across campus. They'd be mad... He laughed again, turning his head to glance at the girl on his back and raising one eyebrow. "I hear they've got excellent padded cells here. You really should try them out some time..."
Max chuckled, pulling absent-mindedly on his forelock, pushing it back when he realized what he was doing with a half blush. "They do. Though I suppose they'd have too... Half the students here are insane in one way or another; or so I hear."
Max shook his head, icy blue eyes crinkling in amusement. "S'not hard at all. Besides, I expect they'll be releasing me within a week or two..." A grin split his face and "it's fun, anyway." he added, thoughtfully. "And if there's someone as interesting as you to talk to, well; all the more reason to do it." He winked, one shimmering blue orb disappearing for a split second, and, realizing she was slipping, hoisted her back up on his back. "Put your arms around my neck," He reminded her, and shook his head when she did so. "Tight. Like you're choking me. You know you want to anyway..."
Max cocked his head to one side, thinking. "Guess you just haven't been around me long enough, then." he said, almost no humor in the dry remark.
He walked in silence for a few minutes, rounding a corner in the corridor, striding purposely; he obviously knew where he was going. "I forgot to ask you - are you enjoying it here, at this lovely little safe haven?" The question was half sarcastic; he laughed dryly at the idea, hoping that she'd been fairing better then him.
