"And you couldn't just make cash? Out of thin air?"

Eliana couldn't imagine what it was like to be poor or even just moderately off. She had always had money. Family money, blood money, sex money.

She wiggled to better position herself. Her eyes narrowed like she was solving some complex equation.

"Yeah, I could but it'd be just the same as printing off a dollar. It'd look and be just like it but there's still the small details that change from dollar to dollar. Plus I got a moral standard I like to uphold, I don't like using my powers for my own gain."

He'd shrug slightly, there was always the temptation but he knew that it'd be a slippery slope. He didn't mind playing around with the powers, but nefarious means lead to nefarious ends.

He'd meet her eyes, he could see the thoughts zooming around her head, not literally but he was good at reading people, well he thought he was. He looked into her eyes though, seeing what emotions he could discern and just admiring the beauty of them.

Eliana was primarily curious. She couldn't get into that thought process. It was frustrating for certain, beyond that was all a tangle of things Eliana didn't understand or want to discern herself.

The screams of dying soldiers echoed behind them.

The closest Eliana ever got to empathy was persistent questioning about how people handled their lifestyles. How they felt. What things were like. She was beginning to wonder how it felt to feel something just because another felt it.

"So a robin hood kind of guy?"

Malvoes would smile, looking down, "Well, I suppose so, I'd only take what I needed and I'd help anyone else I could with what's left."

He'd chuckle a bit at the thought of himself in green tights, running around sherwood. "My mom, when I first gained my powers and subsequently showed them to her, she told me something. She said, 'You're like a superhero now Mal, it's not my place to tell you what to do with them. But you should remember, that just because you're stronger than someone you should try to keep them safe, not lord over them because that's what makes people good.' That was my mom, always looking out for those less fortunate, even when we couldn't get by."

Malvoes would look back at Eli, with a soft smile. "Sorry, I kinda went on a tangent there."

Eliana had placed her hands on the couch behind them. She was still watching him, her head canted to the right as she digested what he was saying.

"That's fine. I like to hear people talk. To see through their eyes."

Her right hand entangled itself in his hair at the nape of his neck.

"So you were the man of the house then? Do you still get to visit your family?"

He'd smile, "You'll have to tell me what you see then."

Malvoes would move his hands to the small of her back, pulling her a bit closer.

"I suppose I was, other than my uncle who'd drop by on occasion it was just my mom and I. I learned how to cook and clean and take care of the house while she would be working. I left her with my uncle, he said he'd stay for a while and keep her company, but I haven't gone back to visit yet."

Eliana chuckled, giving his forehead a quick kiss.

"You already see what I see. I'm pretty open, you know. Besides, humans are way more interesting than sex demons. They have all these emotions and family ties."

28 Days Later's soundtrack was playing as the credits rolled. The music was far too dramatic and eerie for this conversation, but for some reason, Eliana still thought it fitting.

"Yeah, humans are a rather diverse species, so many different things per person. I'm sure you aren't as simple as you say."

He'd glance at the end credits and then back at Eli.

"You have thoughts and emotions, I'm sure you aren't just sex and crime dear."

"You can't be sure of that. It is the best-kept secret, my capacity to feel."

Eliana would get off his lap, assuming he didn't tighten his hold, and stroll to the television to turn it off, opting instead to turn on her iPod dock to something gentle, serving as their background music.

"My job," she said as she swayed her hips to the music, slowly turning around to face him, "is to pleasure people as I pull them deeper into darkness. How much do you think someone who does that feels?"

He'd smile, she was a very very interesting person.

"Well, I know all about that job, I'm a bit of a nerd, reading and learning things, especially folklore. So, I'm familiar with some forms of..demons I suppose, including the succubi my dear."

Malvoes would watch her, swaying her hips to the beat of the music.

"I just think, anyone that can have thoughts, free will, and opinions, is more than just the label they're given. So, to me at least, that means you can feel whatever you do feel or could feel, whether you deny it or not. Even in polygamy there is room for love and not just lust dear."
