Danica hugged her knee to her chest and let her other leg dangle in the water. She twirled her toes in the lake, making little ripples. She was sitting on the dock, staring out at the water and at Dark Crystal Academy.
She had iPod headphones in her ears and wore pink sweatpants rolled up to her knees. She shivered. It was getting colder, turning into winter. She whispered along to the music playing on her iPod.
It seemed dark all of a sudden. 6:00, barely time for dinner, and it was almost pitch black. She sighed, thrust a little dot of light in the air. She watched as her pant leg slowly slipped out of it's position on her leg and dripped on the water, but made no move to pull it back up.
The pink became darker and darker until it was in the water with her foot and too dark to see.
