Starlight Academy was foreign ground, a land of uncharted territory. Rules, areas, and curfews were completely alien to Raella and she was dead set on testing the limits. Well, testing each category would take much too long for her liking. Moreover, the school would only be lenient on her first violation and she wasn't willing to risk being expelled. Hence she decided a swim in the lake at midnight was in order.

Weaving together the threads of energy once again, she concealed her presence and made her way to the well-renowned lake. As expected, the lake was spacious; stretching across a vast area, the pool of water reflected the pale luminescence of the crescent moon. Silhouettes of trees cast onto the lake shifted to and fro, breathing life into the waters. Taking her first step into the lake, Raella flinched slightly at the drop in temperature but slowly submerged herself nonetheless. With her wings firmly wrapped around her body, she gently kicked off, allowing herself to drift aimlessly.

It was hypnotic. The combination of rustling leaves, dry, crisp air, and refreshing breeze circulating throughout the vicinity birthed a tranquil atmosphere like none other. Humming a soft tune to herself, Raella fixated her gaze upon the numerous stars carpeting the sky, motionless.

The night also looked like the background of a painter’s canvas, a work of art nonetheless. Alexander was not normally one to sneak out at the dead of night but curiosity was one of those few things that would get him to act out in such a way. He set his clock alarm for 1 am. As he left the dorms behind him, reminding himself, out of sight, out of mind. The bristling leaves were his cover in the dead of night, his dark hair blending in perfectly with the night’s darkness and his set of clothes equally camouflaged. May only the gods of this world have mercy on him should he get caught. But, he did in fact have an escape button for the next two hours, so being caught was extremely unlikely, given the circumstances.

Alex wandered where ever he could please on the academy grounds for one reason or another, he ended up near the lake, which seemed to be quite peaceful in the evening, though it seemed as the clock was just passing midnight, someone or something was in the lake, were they swimming in the night? From what he could tell, it seemed to only be one person as he approached closer. It was only a matter of time til he was practically next to the shore of the lake, looking out at someone floating there, and he let his voice ride out into the light wind that flew overhead in this evening.

A sharp yell startled Raella back to the present, causing her to jerk slightly and unravel her wings to its full length under the water. In the darkness of the night, she could barely make out the silhouette of what seemed like a teenager - perhaps another student in the school. Giving the person a quick wave, she proceeded to swim towards his direction. As she got closer, Raella was able to make out the more minute details of the man. Azure eyes, almost mistaken to be a light ash color, contrasted against his black hair giving him a studious look. Though a loose onyx coat sheathed his body, Raella could tell he was rather slim for his height. Hoisting herself out of the water, she then sat at the edge of the lake, next to where he was standing.

"Hey, the name's Raella."

Pausing for a moment, she tilted her head upward, meeting his gaze before placing her hands behind her back to support her weight more effortlessly.

"So what brings you here this fine night? Wasn't the curfew 3 hours ago?"

Her lips were tilted upward to a slight smile and her tone was light but not without a hint of tease. Perhaps that night could prove to be more interesting than she initially assumed.
