Jude figured by that point that most teenagers would have glazed over. Investments, sale of commodities, luxury goods... only it was all more or less par for the course with him. He knew this, and it helped him a lot. It was like slipping on an old glove. An old glove he'd never actually worn, but one he was familiar with just the same.

He nodded along as she went through the list of duties. Standard. Easy. Detail oriented. Discrete. Discrete was standard, although the fact that Broen was there made Jude wonder if the discrete had edged from standard PA duties to Genovese family discretion, but he sure as hell wasn't going to ask that.

Which really just left one thing.

"I'm currently effectively out of school," Jude said. "I technically qualify as a remedial student, but I've finished catching up, and the decision was made for me to not start until the new school year. When the new school year starts, I'm going to be taking a modified course load."

It occurred to Jude that while she'd probably read his resume, she might not have picked up on the most important thing.

"One of my main skills is a perfect memory. Anything I see or hear I memorize perfectly. As you can imagine, this helps a good deal with scheduling, but it also means I have more free time when it comes to schooling. While I know Woodland Import's hours, I'm not sure what your usual working hours are, but I imagine I can accommodate to a certain degree."

That was the sticking point, wasn't it? That he was still a student. Did she even know that? Maybe not - Broen...

Was Broen even still going to be in school? Jude hadn't asked.

"Truthfully, my own personal work hours tend to be long and erratic," Zoraida said as she studied Jude thoughtfully for a moment, "However, I don't expect my employees to keep my own hours on a normal day-to-day basis. You would keep office hours, except for the occasional early or late start, or weekend, however, when that happens, there is usually time in lieu of allowed, and if there is nothing important scheduled for the week, may be taken immediately - or accumulated and added to vacation time."

"Also, alll extra hours are paid accordingly as well as extra time give off. For example, if you were to stay late 3 hours, those would be paid, and you'd have the option of coming in 3 hours later the next day - if there was nothing pressing - or add those 3 hours onto vacation days."

"That said, I believe, by law, companies need to allow employees time off for official exams, family emergencies, and so forth... Or at least that is how Woodland runs its operations in Europe, and I see no reason not to maintain the policy here." Zoraida said with a shrug. Everything was negotiable in her mind, all you needed to do was discuss the problem and find a solution.

"Yes, I did see that on your file," Zoraida said with a nod, "Mr. Silver also pointed it out to me when he was going over resumes. I think it a very useful skill to have, my only reservation is whether it is like photographic memory and if so, would you be willing to sign a magical NDA that would prevent you from disclosing any privileged information to third parties? Now by privileged, I mean bank account numbers or passport information, that kind of thing..." she asked.

Jude was crunching the numbers in his head. Office hours were ten to five, and based on what he knew about his own schedule...

"That all sounds reasonable," Jude said. "Based on your office hours, and assuming you spend an hour after office hours getting ready for the following day..."

Jude wished for a moment he'd brought a pen, just to sketch it out and make explaining cleaner, but he figures it was simple enough if he cut out his half of it.

"If I start at 10AM when the office opens, I can maintain my normal school requirements by taking an extra long lunch between 11:45 AM and 1:45 PM. That would allow me to stay until six without issue, and I can be on call as needed for any out of hours business meetings."

Two hours for a student was not unheard of, and with the first being a saturday he'd have almost three weeks to fall into a schedule before he started school.

"I'd have no issues with a magical NDA. My memory is a step beyond photographic, because I also have perfect recall. If you waved a piece of paper in front of me, as long as I had a chance to slip my eyes down it, I could recall it perfectly. My memory also doesn't degrade like a photographic memory. If you tell me a client's phone number today, I'll remember it perfectly two years from now, without writing it down, and will be able to recite it back to you when asked."

"I can be flexible with start times, quite a few of our clients are somewhat nocturnal so you could start later and finish later - if needed. As I said, my hours are erratic. I can be, and have been, here until 1 or 2 am with a client." she said matter-of-factly. "I don't require my PAs attendance to those type of meetings as long as I have everything set up previously..."

Zora nodded at Jude's explanation of his ability. It sounded extremely useful on a practical level, and as her PA it would make work more fluid, there would be less - start and stop because somebody needs to look up info on a client or information on a shipment.

"You should also be aware that discretion is an utmost requirement here. People come to us because we are discrete, capable and very professional, we care about our clients and their needs, and any breach of their confidence can, and will lead to, immediate termination of employment with us." Zora said just making sure Jude understood that.

Discretion. If Jude was in less of his serious, hard working student mode, he might have laughed at that. Discretion. He could do discretion.

Boy, could he do discretion.

"My previous profession," which he hadn't explicitly mentioned on his resume for very obvious reasons, "involved a good deal of discretion, as it dealt with alternate identities. Someone's personal life was intended to be kept absolutely secret, and entirely separate from their work life. Even before that, I was raised in an extremely private family. I learned the importance of keeping things to yourself, and the importance of keeping secrets."

Jude was very firmly of the opinion that the discretion his father had required was well beyond what Zora did... but he was only partially right.

Zora was intrigued by Jude's assurances. She would have asked more questions but knew that might place him in an unnecessarily awkward position, and truthfully, all she needed to hear is that he would and could be discreet.

"Perfect, then you clearly understand the whys behind such a request," she stated satisfied with his answer.

"Now the biggest question of all - Why would you like to work for Woodland Imports?" What do you hope to gain from working as my PA?" Zora asked curiously.

They'd covered the basics. The one-oh-one-can-you-do-the-job sort of thing. But they hadn't really done much of the interview, and while that was probably a good thing (it meant Jude's resume and skillset was impressive enough that she wasn't going to torture him with what is your biggest strength?

But her question was a solid one.

"I'm only a student, so I was ideally looking for a position that would let me use my abilities. Despite my age I have extensive business familiarity, and I was hoping to find a position that would let me use that familiarity. Personal assistant seems like an excellent way to transition into a more professional situation, and give me a chance to get my foot in the proverbial door. Woodland Imports also has the advantage in that I'm not going to be pigeonholed into a specific industry. Your clients and industries are varied enough that the experience gained can expand in a variety of directions, and with the company having only recently arrived on Manta Carlos, it's clear there's room for growth."

To say the least, Jude had done his research.

"That is quite true..." Zoraida smiled, impressed that he had apparently done his homework. Woodland Imports was her baby and its rapid expansion and growth had been because of her vision for the company, refusing to keep it simply as an import-export business based out of London.

"There is a lot of room to expand within Woodland, and if one so later chooses, with DB Holdings which is Woodland's parent company - as I'm sure you probably already know," Zora said with a smile.

"If I am honest, quite a few of my PA positions have ended up as mentorships of sorts. I tend to engage my employees to the fullest, providing training, when and where necessary, and the subsequent handling of clients and/or smaller accounts sometimes. If you were open to that sort of idea, I would certainly be open to considering it in the future." she told Jude.

"Also, how are you running small errands? And can you drive? I am not huge on using employees as gophers," Zora admitted," but sometimes I need files picked up or taken to be signed."

"I'd be interested," Jude said with a smile. "At this point I'm new enough to the island that I'm not sure where I want to be going with my future. Leaving my options open and getting a feel for things is ideal."

It was her next question that made him really grin.

Could he drive. Oh boy, could he. He hadn't been able to drive, and then after one unfortunate incident where someone had literally T-boned the team's van, his father had made sure he knew how to drive.

To say the least, Jude was a very defensive driver.

"Not an issue," Jude said. "I don't have a car currently, but I can drive with no issues." Only wait a second, what about driver's licenses? He hadn't looked into it yet. He hadn't felt the need. "I imagine I can get my license within the week," he said, although he sounded a good deal less sure about that.

"The company has a few leases you can use for those situations. You don't need to have your own car." Zora replied with a small chuckle just nodding when he said he could his license within the next week.

"Well, that's about all I have to ask." Zoraida stated as she looked at Jude, "Are there any questions you have for me? Or that you would like to know about the company or the position itself?
