Ice

And it broke again.

"Is is supposed to be broken...again?" the fourteen-year-old asked unsurely to the sole instructer, the only other one in the room.

'No, I don't think so.'

The man looked at the shattered ice shield, a crack splitting perfectly through it. "You were exerting too much force in the center, after you formed the outer edge. You have some control, you're just not used to it."

Dari looked sheepishly at his creation, "At least, it was better than what I did five minutes ago."

Memory flashback to raining hail.

"Yes, don't remind me of that."

"Hmm, let me try to repair it then," he suggested, placing a hand on the broken piece. The instructer leap to stop him, but there was another small explosion of ice particles, and the ice was decimated. "Eh, heh," he laughed, in reply to the man's look.

"And that is why you're here in this school. Come back tomorrow; you need a bit of rest," he replied, walking briskly out the door, not wanting to be in the grasp of the destructive person.

Dari watched as the door slammed close, leaving him piles of shard ofs ice. He stared disheartened at them, sighing.

'You exert too much force. Maybe I really should let you practice on your own for a bit.'

'I'm alright, I shouldn't even been taking your time.'

Dare only thought to himself, mostly of the consequences that would come up if he left his unruly power neglected.

A soft "thud" could be heard, coming from outside. Dari could probably hear the voice of his instructor harshly demanding someone to not run in the halls.

"Err...umm I'm sorry. You see uhh.. I'm... late for a class. Yeah." Paul quickly came up with an excuse as to why he was running, but it didn't really help the situation. He was able to get off with a warning, at least. But after the teacher had left sight he examined his left arm, which was sore from knocking into the teacher and falling backwards. He managed to stand up, rubbing his arm as he looked around.

[Paul]> I haven't been up here, yet. This is where the classes for special ability training is held, right?
[Corona]> I don't know why you assume I know..but I do believe you're correct.
I think I escaped that jerk that was pushing me around..
It seems so. I've never seen you beat up so badly before..
Eh...I'm fine..

In truth he really didn't have any visible bruises. He wasn't in a whole lot of pain, either, which he felt odd. Maybe the training Corona put him through really did help..

"I wonder what happened..." Dari mused out loud, and clicked open the door. He came face-to-face with a teen slightly older than him. He looked curiously at him, wondering what he was doing out there, in the special rooms.

'Maybe he's in redemial classes too.'

"You're here, why?" he decided to venture, his habit of creating short sentences knocking in, suddenly.

He seemed a bit startled by the door suddenly opening. But when he realized it was a kid he calmed down.

"Uh... I'm lost." He thought up yet another lie, well sort of. He had never been on the second floor, but he wasn't exactly lost. Corona insulted him for coming up with a different lie, but Paul never responded.

"Erm... are you all alone in that room?" He made an odd look as he looked over Dari into the room behind him.

"Oh," he said simply, falling for his excuse. But maybe he didn't want to learn as much as he wanted to about that.

He blinked and looked behind him into the room that was filled with ice. "Pretty much," he said vaguely, and also a bit softer. Dari wondered about that too, if he was really alone if it was just himself there, or if Dare counted in that instance.

"No, nothing," he said, a bit distractedly. He was a bit embarrassed about his mistakes, the room looked almost like a winter snowland, and slammed the door closed tightly. He brushed several strands of hair out of his eyes, and fumbled for words to express his meaning.

'It's alright. Breathe! You seem to be alright in front of people when I'm in charge. Why not now? Just say you messed up.'

'That's because I wasn't talking to them...'

He struggled out some words, while he waited for his power to go haywire, "I have bad control." He was strange; answering questions that weren't asked, Dare thought to himself.

'You do know what you just said was an understatement, right? That's it, I'm not taking control again 'til sundown and you have no way of forcing me to.'

';-; Meanie.'

However on the outside, there didn't seem to be any change of mood. "Uh, yeah." He nodded, then being mentally slapped by Dare. Being mentally slapped is harder than physically, so it hurt him, sort of.

'Okay, I'll improvise.'

"Well, yes," he said again, timidity ruling his words. He just couldn't say anything else, or he'd have something like a nervous breakdown. He'd never had a decent conversation, being more quiet than talkative for most of his life.

I wonder who fails more..you or him... hmm.

"....uh... I see.. well I'm sure with more practice you'll do great. We all gotta start somewhere after all. You can't be a master Glaciemancer from day one!" He smiled and jumped when he heard some doors down the hall opening and/or closing as people left and/or entered.

I'm surprised you even know what a Glaciemancer is..
