Irso was tracing door numbers as he gave a friendly greeting to other co-workers that were rushing to and from different places. It was the afternoon time meaning many classes were in session and the campus was likely packed. With the more nocturnal students coming early for classes and your regular students being mixed in it was safe to say the grounds were active. He had just finished a class on the fundamental letters of Oleti and the words that could be used with it. He was happy to have a class interested in learning such a difficult language,a few were even apart of his history class which gave some familiarity to his classroom. However now wasn't the time for work. He had a plan to make friends with his faculty and he had met a nice woman from his department yesterday.

Professor Kasa was her name and she was quite the history story herself. He didn't get to ask her a lot about what she did but from what he could fathom she had been around long enough to see earth change several times over in a largely dramatic fashion. It was interesting and appealing, to say the least especially since he had missed out on many of it. He had left during World War 2 when things got a tad boring in terms of where research was going. She would probably have fun and thrilling stories to tell which made her the perfect target for a lunch opportunity. He had made some pea soup the night before and had carried some for lunch. He didn't want to assume she would want any but he couldn't help but bring enough for two just in case.

His walking froze when he finally found her office and with a quick turn, he faced it, knocking rhythmically. He was humming a Praxian tune pretty happily as he waited for a response. He wasn't sure if she was there, only that her class was over and this would be the best place to check for her.

Kasa was sitting at her desk. Going over some notes to prep for the next day now that her classes were done for the day. She skimmed her notes for a refresher while her computer speakers played the upbeat and punky tunes of Operation Ivy and The Toy Dolls, her head bouncing to the beat somewhat as she made additional notes on her papers, humming along until she heard sharp knocks to the left of her.

"Hm?" She'd hum, reaching to turn down the volume knob of her computer speakers before she stood up and walked to the office door. She took a moment to smooth out her long, black pencil skirt and blouse before pulling the door open. Her dark eyes brightened with recognition and her curious expression changed to a welcoming smile, "Irso! What brings you to my little office?" She'd greet her coworker energetically, having to look up to him being nearly a foot shorter than him.

He quickly raised his arms and the bag within his hand and excitably said "Lunch! I wanted to see if you cared to join me while we both don't have classes scheduled."He took stock of her office and enjoyed the decor of it. He also heard the music playing in the background. It was something he had never heard before but it seemed to be a personal choice of Kasa. Normally in his office, he had piano music playing or something soothing to grade work too. He even had the strange idea of having one of his adjunct teacher constructs play piano live for him, but he hadn't taken the measurements necessary for that yet.

Taking note of her outfit he spoke softly "And I like the look Ms.Kasa you look rather charming." He was wearing what he usually wore to class a suit and tie. Today's colors were pitch black with a blood red tie. It was his favorite choice because his hair was about as dark and it made him match on a whole extra level. The black dress shoes were also freshly shined leaving a small glimmer from any light hitting it. Being professional in the workplace was a virtue he would uphold.

He had seen some teachers who preferred a more casual look around work but he had already been there and done that on Mes where he just wore his loose casual clothing while teaching the children the basics of academics.

She would smile at the offer, her tone cheerful as she spoke. "That sounds lovely, where would you like to eat? Here or elsewhere?" She would offer politely as she moved the door open some more, kicking a small door wedge under the gap to hold it open while she moved further into her office.

Her half of the office was slowly coming together with various history texts. Manliness and Civilization by Gail Bederman, The Gilded Age and the Progressive Era by Will and Susannah Link, Pop Culture in the Age of White Flight by Eric Avila, Daily Life of Aztecs by Jacques Soustelle and many more were sitting on a bookshelf, stuffed with notes and the pages tattered from being looked through, studied and reread so many times. Her desk had two colorful katsina dolls that were painted brightly with fantastical shapes carved of cottonwood. Various items what now would be considered artifacts but might have had a direct connection to Kasa added color and personalization to the usually dull atmosphere of an office. The comparison made easy since an empty office sat on the other side of the room, empty and waiting for another teacher to fill its place.

Kasa smiled at the compliment, "Thank you. It feels odd to not dress up for work." She kneeled down in front of her desk, keeping her hands on the back of her legs so her skirt didn't get ruined as she searched for her own lunch. She reached into her purse and took out a plastic bag before standing again and turning to walk towards him again. "You look quite snazzy yourself in that suit."

Irso looked at the Katsina dolls as Kasa got something out her bag rather closely. They had a lovely design to them and they seemed like they took a lot of work to make. From there, his eyes wandered to her book collection and other papers she had laying around. The stuff was definitely a stark contrast to the empty partner office on the other half of the room. He wondered who used to work there prior to its current state. While he plowed through the database of his brain wondering if he had read about any teachers leaving a voice cracked him away from the final answer he was looking for, Kasa.

"Thank you. I do try and look formal while at work, and we can eat here if you have no need of going to get food." He didn't want to mention he had brought some for her too. It would look rather weird for him to have just assumed she'd accept a lunch invitation. He would just wait until the time was right. "I have some soup I made so I'm all set."

He'd walk a bit more into the room still examining her book collection for anything that might peak his interest to read that day. He usually could get through a book in a day if he was given enough time. Taking notes might require a second read but that was usually reserved for books he needed notes from. Ones for personal enjoyment didn't require the extra supplies of highlighters and sticky notes.

Kasa would nod in agreement to eating in the office, reaching for the chair on the other side of the room and dragging it over to her side of the office, giving it a small pat on the back of the chair as an invitation for him to sit down as she smiled to him welcomingly. "Yeah? What sort of soup did you make?" She would ask curiously as she made herself comfortable in her chair. Reaching to hit the 'off' button on her speakers in case Irso wasn't a fan of Kasa's taste of music. It may have seemed odd for an old lady such as herself to be interested in loud, punk rock. It sounded nothing like the drums and instruments of her tribe. Not even close. But there was something about the way it got your blood pumping and how it made you just want to jump around and dance that indirectly reminded Kasa of home.

She looked at her guest, noticing how his gaze was drawn to her well-worn books. She'd grin, she pulled some Tupperware and a water bottle of some sort of clear reddish liquid. the Tupperware was a simple rice mix with a side of fry bread. The rice had corn, roasted acorns, squash and some meat all mixed together. "I see you looking at the books. If there is anyone in particular you want to read, you can." She reached for a bottle of smoked tabasco chipotle and drizzled a little over her food as she continued to speak," I have so many notes from when I had to teach previous classes that material that I should be fine without them for a few weeks." She would explain, crossing a leg over her other as she tore pieces of fry bread and ate it with the rice mix.

He smirked when she asked he had made. He set down his bag and as if unveiling a prize or new car whisked it away to reveal a sizeable metal tin. Inside was his soup which was kept warm nicely by the magically enchanted container he kept it in. "It is pea soup, a fine earth peasant dish if there ever was one." Kasa would see a fairly thick but still drinkable green soup with pieces of beef and potatoes inside of it. It didn't compare to the sheer variety of what she had brought but as he had said himself the dish wasn't very high class or scale. It was simple to make and harder to master, which after all these years he had confidence in saying he did. Pulling out a small but deep bowl he scooped out what he wanted with a larger spoon, before covering it back up. Eating out of that metal tin was asking to be burned, literally.

"I was eyeing them but maybe I'll take them off your hands when the semester ends. I have my own personal shelf to finish stock and complete. Maybe I'll bring a few of mine for you to read.....Actually, most aren't in English." He'd remember that the vast majority of his collection here was translated in Oleti. All his other books were still in the heavens collecting..well not dust but they were surely crying over their lack of use. Maybe when things calmed down he would go back and transfer the rest of it here. "I'll translate them and then try passing them off as gifts again." He would laugh at his own inadequacy before quietly spooning soup into his mouth.

She watched with amusement as he revealed the contents of his bag with such showmanship and flare. She even threw in an applause once the dish was revealed. She leaned closer and wafted the scent closer with a small smile, " Mmm...It smells really good." She would compliment as she admired the simple dish. She always preferred the simpler dishes. She leaned back in her chair, taking a bite of her meal.

She'd smile as he realized his texts were in a different language. "That would make reading difficult." She'd say with a laugh. "Feel free to borrow a book at the end of the semester, these were all books I had to use to teach my students at my previous college." She'd offer, looking back to the vast array of cultural history, anthropological and reference books. "What language are your books in?" She would ask with curiosity, facing him again.

He would wipe his mouth after hearing the question and clear his throat. What would follow would probably sound like gibberish to Kasa but was simply him rambling about how nice her hair looked today in Oleti. It was a strong sounding language that used a vast array of sounds. After showing off for a few seconds he would finally answer her question in a way that wasn't morse code. "A vast majority are in Oleti, the native language of Mes. I also teach beginners Oleti and intermediate level at the academy. Most of my students take both the history course and the beginners class."

He would take another sip of his soup. " Most of the books I brought here from my original home were in Oleti because that was the class I was gonna be teaching so it just sorta made sense to envelop myself in the language on a deep basis again." Part of him was starting to regret leaving behind so many times. His little sister was probably going through them and not putting them back in the right order. He could feel his heart sinking at the thought.

"I'll probably get the rest of my collection one day. It is a lot to move, and unlike heaven my space is limited." Irso would give a light chuckle.

Kasa had a look of curiosity and amusement as she listened to Irso show off his language, her head tilting somewhat as she listened to something she could not understand until he explained himself in Engish, to which she expressed interest in. "Perhaps one day I can sit in on one of your beginner classes? I think I could manage to make the noises, but understanding might take some time." She would muse before taking a bit of her meal and sipping her drink. She'd listen to him speak about his collection, growing more curious about it as he spoke of it.

"It sounds like your collection is huge. Does it span many subjects? or is it all focused on Mes and the language?" She'd ask out of curiosity. Enjoying having the company for lunch.
