"From what I usually do? That was nothing." He was a weirdo and he didn't feel like denying it. His feet clacked together as he thought of what to say next; why was this person so defensive? It was cute though, so his type. "You dropped it, about 2 days ago when you got up from sitting in English class." Sounded believable, right? He stopped and offered a hand up. "I'm Auden, cutie. Would it be okay with we started from scratch? I don't feel like getting punched for being creepy today." He just hoped that this was enough to convince him. "Want to go out for ice cream? On me, for an apology."

Valentine's eyebrows shot up, hearing that that was likely a bare minimum of what he 'usually does'. For a second, he considered kidnapping could actually be part of what he does usually before shaking the thought away. He wasn't about to let paranoia get the best of him--he probably should think of escape tactics just in case though.
Valentine was pretty sure he never drops anything, but he did notice a pencil missing at one point but never got around to look for it, thinking someone was playing tricks on him. He said he was going to punch the lights out of whoever took that pencil for kicks.
For a second or two, Valentine just stared blankly at Auden's outstretched hand before swatting it off. "Give me back the pencil and I'll consider not punching you," he told him. He decided he was going to ignore the 'cutie' part for now.
Valentine got up on his own, dusting of dirt and a few debris he caught while trying to lose this guy off his tail. It was probably stupid to agree to go eat with him after running off but his reason to run was another story. "If you don't stalk me around again, I can pretend this didn't happen and I'll accept your apology," he offered.
"Fine fine." He stared down at his other hand, which was still holding the boy's pencil in it. "Sorry about all of this." He was just so damn cute, wasn't he? "Yeah, no more stalking or anything like it. Just, a clean slate yes?" His face perked up with a bright smile, feeling eager to get to know Valentine more. "I like the scales, it's really unique." He'd back up a few feet, keeping his hands to the side just encase Valentine wanted to grab it. "Do you usually run away from people?" His voice whistled out as he started to walk to his unpicked destination.
Valentine swiped the pencil off Auden's hands, stuffing it back into his sling bag without looking at it. He didn't spare any moment thinking about the pencil because if he did, he would probably smack this guy's face. He wasn't very good at anger management for a while now after all, and restraint was the only thing left of him to stop him from 'harming another'.
"I don't think it's that unique given the fact that there's other more demon-looking kids around this side of the planet. Mine could be passed off as a gross normie deformity," he replied rather dryly. He didn't so much like getting noticed for the scales. It gave him bad chills. "And no. I run from people who follow me suspicously," he turned his narrowed gaze at Auden as he said this. "Otherwise, most people are just waiting to be strangled or something.

"Take the compliment or don't." He rolled his eyes. "Not trying to compare you to anyone else Val." The bird scoffed as he took another few steps. "You're fucking feisty and that is a major turn on." His voice was hushed as he was more so talking to the wind then Valentine. "I'm done now, okay? Clean Auden over here, just another classmate."
"Does it matter?" He asked as he lowly reached for Val's hand; he wanted to know if it was soft. "Somewhere fun. Did I say ice cream?"

"Fine, whatever." He could take a compliment. Talk about how pretty his scales are; fine, sure--he can totally take that as long as he can convince himself he isn't being complimented as some accessory. But then there was the other thing Auden said that almost made Valentine trip on his own feet. Just almost though; he was more graceful than that.
He said nothing of it. "I don't like being taken to unspecified places by people I don't know well." That was no lie. He didn't miss the way Auden seem to reach out for him so he tucked his hands away, crossing his arms on front of himself. "And yes you said ice cream so I am fully expecting that or I'm going to have to throw someone to the ground here."
"I'm not kidnapping you, silly. Do you really think that I would?" It almost made him laugh, but the sudden change in atmosphere between them stopped it. Auden placed his hands behind him as they walked. "I'm not that shady, really." His eyes trailed over their surroundings, wondering about all the things Auden could have done, but wouldn't TO this sweet babe. "Yes yes, I'll take you to my favorite one. Promise. If I don't you have full right to do whatever you want to me."

"How would I know? You're the shady one," Valentine mumbled, mostly to himself. Sure people complimented him since he was smart but that didn't account for how bad he was with people. He had terrible judgement for all he knew so at this point, anyone was shady when he was on his own. But that's bordering paranoia and he didn't want that.
"I'm a viper, don't give me full rights to anything unless you're okay with dying," he deadpanned. It wasn't a threat per se but it was a 'mild warning' as what everyone in the orphanage used to say. Mild warning his ass. Valentine didn't mind the silence along the way. He much preferred it that way. He didn't do small talk so he kept to himself.
A few seconds into his humming, Valentine piped up. "So explain to me why you though sneaking about was easier than just giving me the pen in class?"
"Sure sure- whatever you want to believe." He raised his hands in defeat, allowing the snake to win over him this time. "I'm trying more and more to be less dangerous, you know. It takes practice like anything." Auden kept his cool as they walked. "To be honest, the thought of death doesn't scare me much." He wasn't even sure if he could die normally. "I'm sure you'd be inventive too." Auden simply stared ahead and kept his pace. When a question came up, his eyebrow perked. "I don't know if easier is the right word to use. I like to do things the hard way, or even the unexpected way." He hummed a bit longer. "To keep people on their toes."
