What time was it? What time did she leave the house again?

Wakanda didn't remember and barely cared. It was pitch black with the tiny stars just barely illuminating the sky. The tall trees blocked out most of them; this left shadows that stretched across the ground. Her hair and eyes blended in perfectly. Even being someone that gained an appetite for carelessly stepping into places, she wasn't stupid enough to pretend she could see in the dark well. The flashlight function of her phone lit the path ahead of her. She stayed in the center to avoid getting tangled in the various trees and bushes.

However, at this point she felt a tad bit more concerned. Where was she? She knew she was in the woods, but her exact positioning was unknown to her. A quick glance at her phone told her: 1. it's midnight and 2. her phone battery was less than fifty percent. Hopefully it didn't drop below twenty percent before she got out of the woods, or she was in for some serious trouble. This wasn't her usual hangout spot. Then again, she had no hangout spot to begin with. She was a wanderer; someone who went where they pleased.

The lady decided to turn instead of walking straight. She opted to look between the trees. Her eyes picked up a decent amount of star light. Not a lot, but more than the surrounding areas she stood in. This must be a clearing, she thought. Wakanda stepped through the bushes in a gray dress and loafers, not caring that the branches were scratching up her outfit and legs. It would take what felt like a few minutes of travelling to get to the clearing. Perhaps she would recognize it; it wouldn't really hurt to have some idea of where she was.

However, her plans certainly were not to drop in on someone uninvited.

A few hours after midnight was Live's favorite time for meditation. She had to meditate daily in order to keep up her focus to perform magic. It was kind of a pain in the ass but the young girl had come to enjoy the practice more and more. Especially on really clear nights like to tonight when the moon was just a waning crescent in the sky, barely adding more illumination than the stars.

The girl sat in a clearing, one she had discovered within the first two weeks of arriving at Starlight. She was positioned as close to the center of it as she could get, so that the trees around her formed something of a circle. There was a second circle as well, created by some kind of sand or dirt. The circle was about six feet in diameter and had no breaks in it. On what seemed to be specific points around the inside of the circle were seven stones, each a different color.

While all of this was quite strange, it wasn't nearly as strange as the girl herself. She sat crosslegged, her eyes shut and the back of her hands resting on her knees. She wore very little clothing, just a black bra and boxer shorts. A few articles of clothes could be seen hanging over a tree branch on the edge of the clearing. Around her whipped a darkness that moved like a liquid, black smoke through the air. It contained itself inside the sand circle but it seemed almost anxious to get out. The girl's lips moved slightly too, as if she were mumbling to herself though no words were audible.

Live had been out there for hours, connecting herself with the darkness flowing through the forest, letting it's energy surge into her. It almost felt like being on drugs. She had gotten to the point in her meditation where she felt numb to the world around her and could only feel the energy of the shadows. Which was why, when something began to approach, she felt a shift in the energy. At first she tried to push the feeling away, as she assumed it was just a deer or something. As the being came closer, she could feel the darkness whipping around her grow more anxious. When the being stepped into the clearing, the shadows around Live shot up as the girl seemed to transport into a stand position. Her body turned, facing whatever had just entered her sacred space.

There stood a girl. Live's eyes, fully black and seeming to glow with darkness, pierced into the person. Her abilities (plus a recent curse she received from a demon name Score) allowed her to the energy around and within this person. And what she saw was amazing and terrifying. The shadows around the girl pulled in closer to her body as she stood in her circle.

"Who the hell are you?" She barked, her mind, body and spirit getting ready to defend themselves. Someone with that much magic had to be dangerous.

Wakanda was no shadow walker, but she had enough sense to figure out that the shadows retreating towards the meditating girl followed her command. At the very least they were connected. While fear did spring up within her, her expression held an eerie calm. Her purplish black eyes gazed upon the figure calling out to her. What she saw was a pale teenager wearing barely anything while standing in the center of the circle. Those pitch black eyes could make someone run away in fright. However, this trespasser refused to budge. Her curiosity overruled her sense of fight or flight (More like flight considering her lack of combat ability....)

"Wakanda. Someone that's of no threat to you."

Her tone sounded mildly dazed. This power was impressive; it was a shame that she interrupted the training. At least she assumed that was what was going on. Some people used relaxing methods as a way to expand their abilities. She could only make guesses to the stranger's powers based on what was happening around her. The girl debated if it would be a good idea to come closer to the person. Kanda's interpretation of the girl's expression suggested that she was somehow angry or on high alert towards the magic battery. Why could that be?

...Did her energy somehow alarm her? Despite clear risks being involved, she made one casual step towards the center and then another. It was then she finally noticed something hanging from a tree on the outer rims of the clearing. It appeared to be several pieces of cloth. Perhaps clothes or some blankets. It was hard to say; it was after all nighttime and her focus was mainly on the black-eyed girl piercing into her soul. She stopped moving after the second step. Now the wanderer was in clear view. Or a clear target perhaps....

"I seem to have interrupted something."

She kept the calm in her voice. Hopefully it would translate to disinterest in aggression, but considering her usual mannerisms, it could also translate into an unintended holier-than-thou tone. Now that she was out of the bushes, she curtsied before returning to a proper standing stance with her back straight and head turned in the unknown practitioner's direction.

Most of time, shadows only responded to Live's conscious commands. They remained just absences of light until the girl forced them to become more than that. During her meditation sessions the shadows took on a bit more life of their own. They were stronger this way but also more dangerous. They responded more to Live's emotions, which was why the flared up when the girl entered the clearing.

Wakanda...not a name that Live knew but it said a lot about the person in front of her and confirmed what her eyes were telling her; that this was very powerful person. They claimed though not to be a threat and even advanced towards Live in a way that reminded Live of how someone might approach a scared animal. Nothing about the girl seemed very threatening, besides the massive amount of magical power surging through her. Though the more Live looked, the more she could tell that the magic had pretty much no way out. It was like it was trapped inside the girl.

"Yes. You have." Live said with a huff as she crossed her arms. Live's voice was mostly monotone but in her current state, emotion did slip through but not in the most honest way.

Her eyes snapped to the phone in the girls hand and her expression hardened. "Would you mind turning that thing off? It's really destroying this perfectly good night." That was probably what she had sensed more than anything when the girl had been approaching. Being a Shadow Walker meant Live was sensitive to light and right now was the only time she could enjoy being outside without having to worry about light exposure. She really didn't want this flashlight ruining that for her.

While turning off one's flashlight in the presence of shadows that might attack would be considered a stupid idea to some, Wakanda obliged and with a swipe and a press the phone stopped emitting light. Now she was really in the dark here. Her eyes naturally adjusted into "night vision" mode. She didn't move again and instead stood her ground as she engaged in what was merely a tense conversation with the girl. Something told her that her discussion partner was more attuned to night, but she had no way of knowing what the girl actually was without being directly informed.

All she could guess was that she was talking to a shadow being or night creature. Or perhaps she was just a goth that really despised sunlight. I mean she was about as white as snow. Her fingers combed through her hair. Now that her light source was gone, her long hair really did blend into the night backdrop.

"I've agreed to your requests. I believe I have earned the right to request your name in return."

The roles shifted in that brief moment. Now she was in the position of questioning the night lover. The monotone was noted but didn't really bother her. The magic battery was not exactly the cheerleader type or otherwise some extroverted type that would be turned off by the girl's behavior. Instead her curiosity pushed her to strive forward. She desired to know more about the girl and what her intentions were. Now it was harder to see what the shadows were actually doing. The trees circling the area didn't help much. Wakanda partially wished that the Moon would reveal itself tonight in order to grant her more light, but something told her that more light was less than favorable in this situation.

It probably seemed like keeping the flashlight on may have provided some protection from the shadows that danced around the girl, but the light was only a small nuisances to her. It would take more than a flashlight to stop the darkness that Live controlled.

The further away from the sun that Live could get, the better. That was why nighttime was when she was at her most powerful because the sun was literally farther away. Maybe only by a little bit but it was amazing what kind of a difference the position of the plants had on powers.

While Live's skin was incredibly pale, she didn't look exactly caucasian. Her hair color and facial features gave a slightly ethnic look. Maybe hispanic or Native American. It was hard to tell because of the unnatural paleness of her skin.

Live's eyes narrowed for a moment, as if debating if this was reasonable request or not. After a few seconds of silence, she spoke. "I am Live." She then turned her attention back to the circle she stood in and began to pick up the stones that lay on the ground. They were each about the size of an egg but flatter. If Wakanda knew anything about crystals and stones, she would recognize them as palm stones. There was a red one with white speckles, an orange one, a tan stone, a deep green and blue stone, a light blue, a purple and a magenta. As Live started to pick them up, she mumbled something incoherent each time she grabbed one. It almost appeared as if she were thanking them.

It would be foolish to think that the power of a phone's small flashlight could stop a shadow being. Perhaps annoy them, but stop? That'd be ridiculous. Thankfully this was not a course in defeating one aligned with the night. This was an exercise in....friendship? It was hard to say. She certainly wouldn't label her a friend yet. They were just barely hitting the acquaintance stage. This was more about satisfying her curiosity while avoiding further angering of her curiosity's source. Taking another look at her again, she seemed...ethnic? Was that an appropriate word?

While Wakanda eventually acquired a response, it did take some time. It seemed that her request was being evaluated. She patiently waited as silence filled the clearing. Tonight had very little wind, and there were thankfully no signs of wildlife nearby. At least no signs that could be seen or heard. The girl revealed the answer: Live. The magic battery was satisfied to a degree. She still held interest in conversing with her, but what would be the next question? What should be her approach? She carefully contemplated this as she watched Live. Live picked up several objects off of the ground.

She focused on her hands. Those were...rocks? They were too colorful and smooth to be random rocks. They must have been stones...but for what purpose? She thought back to her studies. It was said that certain stones could help with meditation and sometimes healing remedies. Could they be palm stones? Certain types were also known to help with magic channeling. Too bad the stones didn't really do anything for her, at least not the last time she tried.

"Palm stones. For meditation perhaps?"

Feeling more comfortable, she stepped closer to Live. Now she was a decent conversational distance away from the shadow person. About a step away from hand shaking distance. If the detection of magic energy was distance-based, then the girl's large well of magic could be felt greatly. There were no attempts to conceal it or limit it, but it seemed to go into an endless cycle through the veins spread throughout her entire body. It was trapped there, waiting for someone or something to connect to it. It would just take one touch; one simple touch, and it would flow out like a raging river freshly released from a dam.

There was only one person on the island (and probably in the world) that Live would actually call her friend. She was probably the first person the girl had made friend with since 6th or 7th grade. Relationships were a shaky area for Live as her usual response to human interaction was not terribly positive. It ran along the lines of "get the hell away from me unless you have something extremely beneficial to my existence". Those beneficial things were usually food, information, and power.

Live had half hoped that telling Wakanda her name would get the girl to move along on her nightly outing but that didn't seem to be the case. Instead, she was trying to start a conversation.

"Yeah. Seven stones for the seven chakras to balance the body." Live had been practicing meditation for just over three years now. It wasn't until this past year that she actually started get kind good at it. She had almost given up on the process many times but everything she read said that it would take years of practice before meditation started to yield its best results--especially when it came to magic.

She had given the information to the girl, hoping to put any further questions out of the way and satisfy her obvious curiosity. While she had given up on her meditation for the evening, she was still hoping that she might get some time alone out here. Especially since her powers were so active at the moment. She really wanted to test where she was at.

Live felt the girl move closer but didn't look at her again until she had picked up all her stones, just managing to hold them all in both hands. She turned to face the girl again, partially because she was in the direction her clothes were hung up but first to ask the girl if she would move along now. But as she she did, her eyes fell upon the girl again and she nearly dropped the stones.

"What the...." She gasped as her eyes grew big. The shadows that extended all around the back of her body, seeming to flow up out of the ground towards the center of Live's back and then out from there around her body at about arms length, pulsed suddenly again and again as if getting sudden bursts of energy.

Live could feel it. Live could see it. It was standing right in front of her. Suddenly the girl shifted from a human to walking magical battery. Her cursed eyes were still fairly strong and what they were telling her...well, she couldn't believe her eyes!

"What...what are you?" She asked, sounding almost afraid. The girl wasn't a demon, she could tell that much. The feeling reminded her slightly of a witch she had once met but different. Stronger but also less controlled. Her eyes scanned up and down the girls body, taking in everything she could. It was like seeing an aura. Most of the energy was contained inside Wakanda's body but some of it flowed out of her body and that was what the shadows were picking up. Live had been pulling some shadows from the spirit world to aid in her meditation and they could already pick up some of the girls power through the spiritual plane that the two physical people couldn't touch. But Live could feel it. It was like the shadows she controlled got a little extra juice. It sort of reminded her of her half human, half demon form but she could still control them.

As Wakanda approached, the shadows fluctuated. She didn't notice the change at first. Her focus was on the explanation given to her by Live. The girl merely dabbled in meditation; it seemed that Live had a lot more knowledge and experience on the subject than she did. The seven chakra were a basic concept that the listener at least understood. So that's why all of the stones were varying colors. She wasn't sure why that was the case but knew it held a level of significance. They wouldn't be there otherwise if they meant nothing. However, the conversation quickly shifted to a new topic.

Suddenly her conversation partner appeared shocked. Her expression radically changed when she took a glance at Wakanda. Her hands trembled just enough to make the girl think that she would drop the stones. Instinctively she reached out to try and catch them. This would likely result in physical contact or near physical contact depending on how the other girl reacted. She paused as she tried to figure out just what was causing that reaction. As her body froze, she felt the flow of her energy shift. While not really affecting her much, magic radiated off of her body and entered an outlet.

Her eyes glanced around to see the shadows dance around them. Her supply was fueling the shadows and likely affecting their host. She hadn't fully fathomed the nature of the shadows; due to her lack of knowledge about the shadow realm, there was no way she could know. This development surprised her in the sense that she hadn't realized she could do that. So these beings could also be fueled by her extraordinarily big magic reserve. Now Live demanded to know what she was. Her mind jolted back to reality. Yes, she should probably answer that.

Wakanda stopped leaning over and stood straight once more. Her eyes gazed into the cursed eyes of her conversation partner. Live's facial expression, to Wakanda, suggested that she was baffled and perhaps concerned. The girl took a deep breath. Her surprised expression from before steadily faded.

"Well, I am supposed to be a mage, but I am more of a magic battery. I have an obscene amount of magic but no way of using it. The best I can do is allow others to feed from me."

She stayed within the same radius. The shadows sensing and sampling her magic didn't bother her.

"It seems to certainly benefit your friends."

As Wakanda reached out to grab any falling stones, her hand brushed against Live's. At that moment, Live's body shifted. Her whole being became darker, more transparent and her edges began to blur. Her legs completed shifted into their shadow form and merged with the darkness flowing up from the ground and into the girl. Live's hair also had a very dramatic shift as it began to merge with and move like the darkness around her. The shadows expanded further, pulsing faster. The feeling was like that of her most successful meditation session, times ten.

Her glowing black eyes seemed to become more like blackholes and the curse on them was also exemplified. Live could see in even greater detail the power that flowed in the girl and now into her.

Based on what she was seeing, the type of magic the girl held was so broad in it's battery capability that feeding shadows (a very low form of energy especially on such a dark night) was like have a giant generator power a single computer. Even just that one touch had been enough to spark her ability up ten fold.

She listened in awe as the girl explained. She was literally a walking magic reserve. She couldn't understand how the girl hadn't figured out some way to use all this power she was carrying. If it had been in Live's hands...well, she didn't know what she would have done with it all. Probably tried to cover the sun in shadows or something (though that probably wouldn't actually work).

Then a thought hit Live. Wakanda said that she allowed others to feed off of herself. This was apparent too by her willingness to stand in such close proximity to Live even as her shadows continued to pull energy from the girl. Maybe she could somehow convince her that Live would be a great candidate for sharing her wonderful magic. She supposed that this would be one of those times she would have to force herself to be friendly and social.

Live's expression broke out of it's confusion and fear into one of relief with a bit of a smirk and a chuckle. "I've never felt something so powerful before.. I've only maybe hit half your level of power and that's when I completely lose control of my abilities." True awe slipped through the girls stoic nature, in her expression and voice.

She was quite for a moment. A new thought played across her features, one that brought about some concern as her brows stitch together. "I must ask... What's someone like you doing wandering about in the middle of the night like this? You said you cannot use your own magic...so do you have some other way of defense? I mean, this is a place full of all kinds of creatures who'd love to get their hands on that magic of yours." Live gave a bit of a smirk, "My shadows being one of them though based on what I'm seeing, they aren't draining much from you at the moment."
