"Always back to keep your ideas close to yourself and sometimes those you trust the most. Never know who may try to steal your ideas."" He made a light chuckle to downplay the warning tone of her words. Even those close to you are capable of being transformed into a foe by greed.

"Anyway, I'd be happy to help show you around the forest and teach you some things about the fauna and flora here. I'm a Plant elemental. I'd be a shame to my kind if I wasn't able to identify even the basics of magical plants. I also know plenty of good books to suggest as well. In return, I'd like to hear more about you and what your shop offers in return."

"It does also prevent someone from experimenting with things they aren't ready for. Either in terms of raw experience, or maybe they don't have quite the right magical bent." Nevin gave a slight shrug and a grin before focusing his eyes on Elisa. "I might stop by the school - perhaps the college offers a night course or something that I could work into my schedule. Something to keep in mind, thank you." He nodded to the brown-haired girl. That was another thing that he was having to adjust to - it wasn't just on him to research things now. Others could, and had, done research on magical materials here on Manta Carlos. There was nothing wrong with reaching out to publicly available information. That's what the compendium he was constantly referring to was, after all.

The offer from Henghai was also fairly intriguing. Being able to ask questions and learn from an elemental was potentially a unique opportunity. It would cut down on the time he had to experiments if the centauroid could answer questions that he had about things. Nevin rubbed his chin with one hand. "I will probably take you up on your offer, Henghai, thank you. My shop is fairly simple, at the moment, offering a variety of basic alchemical remedies and the like. Healing salves, things for a few minor illnesses, things that I can keep stocked without too much trouble. Though, I do offer a kind of 'consignment' or contract work, if someone needs something more specialized." That was another way he got ideas for things to work on, after all. Some people had some bizarre requests, and being exposed to those requests kept creativity flowing.

As the others talked, Elisa had noticed a small bush she hadn't noticed before. Red with small flowerings.

Crouching, she went to get a better view of the flowers, opening her book again. Despite her efforts, this type of plant called a Demon Bloom wouldn't be found in her book, and was actually harmful to wildlife, causing people to feel as if burned when bare skin made contact. Because she didn't know this, however, she immediately thought it was undiscovered, and after a small picture, went to pluck one of the small flowers.

"I'll definitely have to visit then. Sounds like something right up my alley." Possibly he could try analyzing what was used in each potion and ointment to see if there was something new he could learn from it.

Henghai had been ready to continue on, then saw Elisa plucking a red flower from a small bush. He approached the young girl to get a better sight of the flower. "Oh, what do you need a demon bloom for?" he asked, not too concerned since she was gloved.

"You'll want to watch your step if and when you do visit. I ah, wasn't too familiar with the Island's layout when I purchased my shop location, so the area it's in is rather close to the more... indiscreet areas." And that was all the alchemist was going to say about that, at least with the young girl present. He raised an eyebrow as she knelt down by the plant, her hand reaching out, and then turned his head towards Henghai. Nevin was trying to remember where he recognized that name from, but couldn't quite place it. Then he snapped his fingers, long digits slapping sharply against his palm as he figured it out. That was one of the plants that he'd had a mild interest in looking for, but he hadn't known what the blasted thing actually looked like. Well, with the example that Eliza was currently plucking, he at least now had a visual comparison to work with.

Realising she was asked a question, Elisa looked up, putting the Demon Bloom into a small pouch at her side. Standing up to face Henghai, she looked disappointed that Henghai identified the plant. "Is that what it's called? Demon Bloom?" Thumbing through her book, she shook her head. "Sorry, can you tell me about them? There doesn't seem to be anything in this."

Putting the book under her arm again, Elisa looked at Nevin as he snapped his fingers. "Uh, did you want the plant?"

"It's a magical flower known for making those who touch it with their bare skin feel burned. From what I've seen, the effects are quite awful. I've had patients who came to me more help after an encounter with them."

Henghai called back one of his plant servants to take some picks of demon blooms for him, leaving enough for Nevin and Elisa to get their own share if wanted. "I want to make a remedy for those affected by it. Using the cause of the problem to fix it isn't an uncommon method."

"I know what I'm looking for, now, so I can gather some myself if need be." The offer from the young woman was generous, but Nevin didn't want to make her feel like she had to give him something. His eyes slid over to Henghai as the centauroid spoke. The symptoms he described were similar to an intense topical irritant.

And using 'poison as a cure' as it were was a decently common solution for a lot of things. Antivenom was made from venom, after all. Nevin rubbed his chin as he turned the issue over in his mind. Figuring out a way to subvert the irritants in the plant's oil - the likely carrier - would take some time and testing. Would the plant itself be enough to actually work as a curative, when prepared, or would it need additional substances? The redhead started humming under his breath before sharply shaking his head.

"That's a nice little conundrum, good Henghai." Nevin knelt down near Elisa and gathered a few samples of the plant - taking care to take not just the flower, but also the stem and roots. He tucked these into his own bag before standing back upright, noticing a slight sheen on the spots where he had touched the plants.

"Do be careful not to touch your bare skin with your gloves, Miss Elisa. Now, then." He swung his gaze back to the leafy, verdant form of Henghai. "I'll do a few experiments as I can with these, and let you know if I can figure out something. I'd not realized it was a somewhat common problem." And it gave the alchemist something concrete to work on for a time, between actual commissions. A little thought project could keep the mind working on top shape.

It was interesting to think about the plant being used as its own cure. Elisa stared at the small flower in her hand, as if she could learn the way to make a remedy. "In your opinions, both of you, do you think if it was made into a remedy, could soothe actual burns?" Something to consider, maybe it's qualities could be amplified.

Taking a step back, she made sure not to touch her bare arms. The Plant probably secreted oil. if that was what caused the burning sensation, that could be something to collect and analyse. If nothing else, it would be useful to have around for testing.

"Thanks for the advice, Mister Nevin." she smiled at him.

"We should trade contact information then, Nevin. You can also find me at Starlight Academy as a nurse occasionally. I used to be a teacher, but, well, I prefer actually being active with my work." There were subjects that allowed Henghai to be in the field, but really, being a teacher here meant adapting to many trains of thoughts. Despite Henghai's countless patience he some people were far beyond him to reason with as a teacher.

Henghai looked down at Elisa with a wondering expression. "Hmmm... I don't think so. Just because something feels like it's burning doesn't mean it's the same thing as being burned by, say, fire or a hot stove. However, I do think it could possibly be used to help with other plants that cause burning sensations."
